Sobre Este Evento

Descrição

This is a four-day live online healing retreat for people who want to change their relationship with food, their bodies and the beliefs behind both. It is led by Geneen Roth, the New York Times bestselling author and teacher, and held on Zoom, so you can take part from your own home. The retreat is open to all levels, whether you are new to Geneen's work or already know it well.

Geneen's approach treats eating as a doorway rather than a problem to be managed. Instead of diets, calories or weight loss, the retreat turns attention toward the thoughts, beliefs and habits that drive compulsive eating, and toward the inner critic that so often goes with them.

What to Expect

The retreat opens on a Thursday evening at 5:00 pm Pacific Time with an opening session, then moves into two full days of teaching and closes on Sunday morning.

On Friday and Saturday the day follows a steady rhythm (times may change):

- 8:30 am PT: movement and meditation
- 10:30 am PT: eating together
- Afternoon: break time, with activities announced daily
- 3:00 pm PT: group sessions
- 5:30 pm PT: evening session

On Sunday, movement and meditation at 8:30 am PT leads into the closing session at 10:30 am PT.

The daily eating meditation is a central part of the retreat. Everyone shares a meal virtually, guided by Geneen, and practices eating mindfully while listening to what the body actually needs. Small breakout groups give space to work with personal patterns and to share difficulties and breakthroughs. The morning movement and meditation are gentle and meant to help you settle into your body before the day's teaching.

Participants often point out that doing the retreat at home puts the practice in the very environment where eating is hardest. Past attendees describe it that way, and the format is built around it.

After the four days, support continues through monthly group meetings, small group sessions and peer support among the retreat community.

About Geneen Roth

Geneen Roth is a New York Times bestselling author and teacher who has spent more than four decades helping people step out of cycles of control, shame and self-judgment around food. Her work began with her own suffering: years of dieting and searching led her to see that the way we eat is about how we live, how we feel, and how we treat ourselves when no one else is watching. She has written eleven books, including Women Food and God and her newest, Love, Finally. She has led workshops and retreats for thousands of students and has appeared on Oprah and Good Morning America.

Before You Go

No prior experience with Geneen's teachings is needed. The retreat is taught in English and is described as being for women.

Included are the daily movement and meditation sessions, the daily guided virtual meal, interactive and small group sessions, the opening and closing sessions, video recordings of every session for later review, and the ongoing support programs. If you cannot attend something live, the recordings let you catch up.

Reading Women, Food, and God and Love, Finally beforehand is suggested, though any of Geneen's books can serve as a companion. The books are not provided.

You will need a desktop computer, laptop or tablet with an internet connection of at least 2.0 Mbps. Zoom is used, and a test session is offered for anyone who is unfamiliar with it. Technical support is available by phone or text during the retreat. Partial scholarships and payment plans exist for those who need them.
