Sarah Sati is a trauma-informed meditation teacher and coach who helps women heal from trauma and reconnect with their inner wisdom. Her own journey into mindfulness, meditation and trauma integration began over two decades ago, and she now works with women around the world, in one-on-one coaching, group sessions and online resources. She lives on the Caribbean island of Bonaire.
Sarah holds a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology, where she studied mindfulness-based practices. She has taught yoga, meditation and mindfulness for over 15 years. She is also a student of Tibetan Buddhism and has studied deeply under teachers including Mingyur Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. Her approach brings Buddhist psychology, including the lojong and lamrim teachings, together with modern psychological science, somatic practice and coaching.
Her work is shaped by her own history of early childhood trauma and mental health challenges, and by a wish to live an authentic, meaningful life, free from shame and medication. She describes her mission as offering a safe, supportive space where women can explore mindfulness in a way that honors their individual journeys, through accessible and affordable coaching, courses and content.
Mindful Island is her teaching home, named for the Buddha's counsel to take refuge in the "island of the self." Its core is the Mindful Island Method of Transformation, a trauma-informed, Dharma-rooted path of six phases: connecting to awareness, releasing tension, finding safety in the body, befriending emotions, watering the good heart, and redefining reality. She also leads meditation retreats and masterclasses, and shares teachings on Buddhist psychology, nervous system and trauma recovery, and somatic meditation.
She describes her work as being for people who want to understand themselves, not escape themselves.
