Recurring memberships for your community

Sell weekly, monthly or yearly memberships that give members ongoing access to your classes, with member pricing on everything else.

A weekly meditation sit, a studio's class schedule, a teacher's standing circle: none of these are one-time events, even though ticketing tools tend to sell them a date at a time. A membership on BrightStar sells the ongoing relationship instead. A member pays once a week, month or year, and their place in the classes the plan covers is already theirs, so there is nothing to buy again each week.

Memberships are an Elevate feature. You build plans under Dashboard, Memberships, and each plan becomes something people can join from your memberships page.

What a plan gives a member

Every plan has one main benefit. Unlimited classes means a member's own place in every covered class is included. A set number of classes gives them that many each billing period; unused classes expire at the end of the period unless you choose to let them carry over. A discount takes a percentage off the covered classes instead.

You also choose what the benefit covers: every weekly class you run, everything you host, or specific weekly classes you pick from your schedule. Weekly classes are the events you have set to repeat every week, so a plan that covers them keeps covering each new date as it is added.

A member discount on everything else

A plan can also give members a percentage off what it does not already include: tickets to your other events, add-ons such as a mat rental or a meal, or both. It applies on its own when a signed-in member buys. It never stacks with a discount code or a pass-holder perk: on each item the member gets the single best saving available, and if a code is worth more than their member savings, the code wins.

Member pricing covers the member's own place. When a member buys a second ticket for a friend, the friend's ticket is at the regular price, while add-on discounts apply to every add-on in the order.

How people join and pay

Each live plan appears on your memberships page, at /memberships followed by your organizer profile's address. A visitor picks a plan, enters their email and pays through Stripe. The subscription is created on your own connected Stripe account, so payments land in your Stripe balance, and it renews automatically each period until the member cancels.

BrightStar's Elevate percentage is taken from each payment, as it is on Elevate tickets, and there is no per-ticket flat fee on a membership. Stripe's processing fee is charged to your Stripe account, as with any payment made directly on it. To sell memberships, your Stripe account needs to be fully connected and able to take card payments.

How members manage their membership

Members do not need a BrightStar account. From your memberships page they ask for a link to their membership, and BrightStar emails them a secure link that works for seven days. From there they see their plan, when it renews and, on a class-count plan, how many classes they have left. They can pause billing and resume it later, or cancel. A cancelled membership stays active until the end of the period already paid for, then ends; nothing is refunded for the remainder of the period, and tickets they bought separately are never affected.

Seeing your members

The Members tab under Dashboard, Memberships lists everyone holding one of your plans: their name and email, which plan, when they joined, when they renew or end, and whether they are active, paused, behind on a payment or cancelled. Each plan card shows how many active members it has. A plan nobody has joined yet can be deleted; once it has members it can only be archived, which stops new people joining while current members keep it until they cancel.

Start with one plan that matches how your regulars already come to you. If most of them attend every week, unlimited weekly classes at a price a little under four drop-ins is a natural first offer. Add a member discount on add-ons and your other gatherings so membership feels like belonging, not just a bulk rate.

Common questions

Can I sell memberships on BrightStar?

Yes, on Elevate. Create a plan under Dashboard, Memberships, choose what members get and what it covers, set a weekly, monthly or yearly price, and publish it. People join from your memberships page and pay through your own connected Stripe account.

A plan's main benefit is unlimited classes, a set number of classes each period, or a percentage off; it covers every weekly class, everything you host, or weekly classes you choose. You can add a member discount on your other tickets and add-ons. Your Stripe account needs to be fully connected and able to take card payments before anyone can join.

How is a membership different from a ticket?

A ticket buys one date. A membership buys ongoing access on a recurring cycle, so a member's place in the classes their plan covers is already theirs without buying again each week.

Member pricing is applied automatically when a signed-in member buys, using the same rules as pass-holder perks: the best single saving on each item, never on top of a discount code. A member's own place is covered; a friend they bring pays the regular price.

What happens when a member cancels?

Their membership stays active until the end of the period they have already paid for, then ends and stops renewing. Anything they bought separately as a ticket is unaffected.

Members cancel, pause and resume from the secure link BrightStar emails them, without needing an account. Pausing stops billing until they resume. Nothing is refunded for the rest of a period on cancellation.

What does BrightStar charge on a membership?

BrightStar's Elevate percentage of each membership payment, the same percentage as on Elevate tickets, with no per-ticket flat fee. Stripe's processing fee is charged to your Stripe account.

The subscription runs directly on your connected Stripe account, so each payment lands in your Stripe balance and BrightStar's percentage is taken as an application fee on that payment. If BrightStar has agreed custom rates with you, those apply instead.
