Descripción
The full moon has long been revered in yogic tradition as a time of heightened spiritual potency—a natural gateway to deeper inner awareness. This four-day immersive retreat harnesses that auspicious lunar energy to guide you into direct experience of your True Nature through meditation and complementary practices. Held at the serene Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville in Buckingham, Virginia, this retreat welcomes seekers of all experience levels to explore the profound relationship between celestial rhythms, inner practice, and awakening.
Under the guidance of teacher Satya Greenstone—a student of the legendary Sri Swami Satchidananda since 1971—you'll discover how meditation serves as the gateway to lasting transformation. Drawing on decades of teaching across diverse communities, Satya brings a grounded, practical wisdom that meets you exactly where you are, whether you're new to practice or deepening a lifelong journey.
This is not a retreat of passive listening. You'll engage directly: moving through asana to prepare your physical body as a vessel for higher states; practicing pranayama to awaken and regulate your vital life force; chanting sacred Vedic mantras (including the luminous Gayatri and Purnima mantras) to focus and purify the mind; and resting in restorative techniques that anchor deep peace. Woven throughout are sessions of karma yoga, satsang (sacred gathering), and guided meditation—all calibrated to support your unfoldment during this potent lunar window.
What to Expect
Your days at Yogaville will follow a rhythmic arc designed to deepen your practice and presence. Mornings begin with pranayama and meditation as the ashram awakens. You'll move through gentle-to-moderate asana classes that honor your body's intelligence, followed by periods of silent sitting practice. Afternoons include chanting sessions grounded in Vedic tradition, karma yoga (selfless service), and teachings that illuminate the philosophy behind your practice. Evenings conclude with restorative work and satsang—intimate gatherings where the teacher responds to questions and shares wisdom. Throughout, the full moon presides as a silent teacher, amplifying the clarity and insight naturally available in deep practice.
You'll leave with practical tools for meditation, a deeper understanding of lunar cycles and inner energy, renewed connection to mantra and chanting, and direct experience of how aligned practice transforms consciousness.
