Description
Imagine stepping away from the noise of daily life to discover the transformative power of your own heart. Over three immersive days in October, The Art of Loving Kindness invites you into the ancient practice of metta—a contemplative discipline that awakens compassion, steadies your nervous system, and teaches you to extend genuine care to yourself and all beings. This isn't about forced positivity or spiritual bypassing; it's about cultivating a resilient, grounded capacity for love that radiates into every corner of your life.
Led by beloved teachers Missy Brown and Stephen Cope at the renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA, this retreat weaves together seated meditation, gentle movement, breathwork, sound healing, and time in nature into a cohesive journey. Whether you're seeking to deepen an existing practice, heal from burnout, or simply reconnect with your heart's capacity for steadiness and care, this retreat meets you exactly where you are—no prior experience required.
You'll leave with practical tools, a clearer relationship to your inner landscape, and tangible ways to bring metta into your relationships, work, and daily challenges. This is retreat as both sanctuary and training ground.
What to Expect
Each day unfolds with a balance of seated meditation, movement, and interactive exploration. You'll begin with foundational teachings on metta practice, then progressively deepen through guided meditations that expand your circle of compassion—starting with self-love, then extending to loved ones, neutral people, difficult people, and all beings. Throughout, Missy Brown and Stephen Cope weave in somatic awareness practices, crystal sound bowl healing, yoga nidra, breathwork, and journaling to anchor the teachings in your body and nervous system.
The retreat emphasizes both inner practice and real-world application. You'll explore how steadying your own heart creates resilience and ripples outward into your relationships and community. Sessions alternate between solo practice time and group gatherings, with ample opportunity to rest in nature on Kripalu's beautiful grounds.
