In a world drowning in content, the ability to tell a genuine, compelling story through video is a superpower. This hands-on Social Media Storytelling workshop invites you to discover how to craft meaningful video narratives that resonate across platforms—and in doing so, find your authentic voice as a creator. Led by accomplished multimedia producer and documentary filmmaker Bob Sacha, this immersive week guides you through the complete journey from concept to finished piece, using nothing more than the smartphone already in your pocket.
Whether you're an activist seeking to amplify a cause, an artist wanting to share your work, or simply someone with stories worth telling, this workshop meets you where you are. Bob's approach integrates both technical mastery and creative intuition, exploring the foundational skills of video production—framing, interviewing, text, and graphics—while teaching you how to adapt your content across Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. You'll learn not just how to make videos, but why certain stories work, and how to connect with audiences in an oversaturated digital landscape.
By the end of the week, you'll have completed a short video story about your local community, a tangible artifact of your growth and a foundation for ongoing creative practice.
What to Expect
This workshop unfolds as a practical, collaborative experience. Each day builds foundational skills through demonstrations and hands-on practice. You'll learn essential video production techniques—how to frame shots thoughtfully, conduct meaningful interviews, and enhance storytelling with text and graphics overlays. Bob shares real examples from his documentary work, illuminating the principles behind effective storytelling across platforms.
Throughout the week, you engage in guided assignments that progressively deepen your craft. Rather than passively watching tutorials, you're actively creating from day one. The workshop welcomes both beginners (no prior experience necessary) and experienced creators looking to refine their skills and expand their platform awareness. You'll work alongside fellow storytellers, sharing feedback and building community around the creative process.
By week's end, you've not only produced a finished short video but internalized the creative thinking that makes stories land.
