spiritual gatheringMass Violence, Genocide, and Their Lasting Impact on Indigenous Peoples – 2026
Held on Mapuche-Tehuelche ancestral land in Bariloche, Argentina, this international conference convenes scholars, knowledge holders, and researchers to examine mass violence and genocide against Indigenous peoples across the Americas, Arctic, subarctic, and Australia/Pacific regions. The gathering addresses both historical violence and its ongoing impacts on communities, while centering Indigenous resistance, agency, and strategies for change. Organized by the USC Center for Advanced Genocide Research in partnership with Instituto de Investigaciones en Diversidad Cultural y Procesos de Cambio (IIDYPCA-CONICET-UNRN), the conference fosters interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue across diverse historical and geographic contexts. This marks the second in a series of conferences on genocide research.
