Bader Soma

Bader Soma is a Lebanese-Canadian multi-instrumental artist, composer and songwriter based in Montreal. He plays piano, guitar and harmonium, and has been making music since 2012. His relationship with the piano began in a school in Brazil. He is self-taught and has never taken a piano course, and he describes the instrument as the best way to express his emotions in the universal language of music.

His early albums were instrumental piano music, often contemplative, nostalgic and whimsical, with sensitive coloring and expressive phrasing. He also loves to play the music of Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen. EntheoGenesis (2016) was his first studio album, released on the day of his first concert in Montreal. As Above, So Below followed in 2018, and the live-at-home single Madhuram Medley in 2020 gathered some of his favourite compositions and kirtan melodies.

Bader discovered kirtan, devotional call-and-response music, in 2016, and then spent six months on pilgrimage in India. Govinda's Grace (2022) was his first kirtan album of original compositions, with him singing and playing guitar, piano and harmonium. From Here to Eternity (2024) is his second. He has toured North America three times, including Toronto, New York and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and has played in Sydney and Beirut. Through concerts, retreats and festivals, he shares music as a path to inner peace and transcendence.

Music is one of several ways he shares joy and connection. Since 2015 he has worked one-on-one as a happiness coach. He also organizes kirtan gatherings, yoga retreats and festivals, and he runs Soma Rasa, a vegetarian and vegan catering service serving sattvic food based on Ayurveda. He also teaches private music and cooking lessons.
