The Red Temple

The Red Temple is a four-day tantra workshop for women at PachaMama Eco Village & Retreat Center in Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Led by Raaji Amankay, it is an invitation to uncover and own the feminine within, and to step out of collective conditioning around what a woman should be. It is offered in two progressive levels, and women new to embodied feminine work are as welcome as those who have walked this path for years.

What to Expect

Each level runs four days. The days weave together meditation, movement, ritual, guided practices, group sharing, and time for rest and integration. There is room to be in nature, to eat well, and to let the experience unfold at its own pace.

Level 1, Women with Roots, introduces Tantra as a path of love that offers conscious ways to experience sensuality and sexuality. The focus is on rooting into the body, the earth, and this life. Women explore boundaries and communication, tantric exercises, meditations, and healing rituals within a circle of women. The atmosphere is less about analyzing yourself or solving problems and more about a space where everything is welcome and expressed through the body.

Level 2, Women with Wings, is for women who have completed Level 1. It brings sound, movement, sacred ritual, creativity, and expression into a deeper exploration of the Feminine Arts. It includes conscious touch and healing massage, as well as a dream-time space for feeling into visions and weaving them into daily life. Some structures invite nakedness, and each woman chooses her own level of nudity at any moment.

Across both levels, every invitation is optional. Partner exercises and conscious touch are introduced with clear guidance, consent is requested and respected, and you may decline anything. The workshop is not focused on sexual activity or performance.

About Raaji Amankay

Raaji Amankay is a trained bodyworker and therapist who has worked with people since 1990, guiding workshops, retreats, and therapeutic processes for more than thirty years. Her training includes Trauma Healing and Somatic Experiencing, Tao Yoga, Continuum Movement, Reiki, massage, and contemporary dance. She has also studied with Peruvian curanderos and immersed herself in meditation and indigenous traditions. She helped establish PachaMama Eco Village in 1999, and the Red Temple grows from her long exploration of feminine wisdom, Tantra, movement, and ritual. Participants describe her as warm, gentle, and attentive to each woman's own pace.

The Setting

PachaMama is an intentional community devoted to conscious living, set amid tropical forest near Nicoya in Guanacaste. For more than 25 years it has welcomed people from around the world. Days here are supported by meditation, music, community, and nourishing vegetarian meals. Accommodation is arranged separately, with options available through the event page.

Before You Go

- Experience: Level 1 is open to women with any amount of experience in embodied, tantric, or women's work. Level 2 requires completion of Level 1.
- Language: English.
- Included: Facilitation by Raaji Amankay, meditation, movement, and ritual sessions, group sharing and guided practices, vegetarian meals, and access to the eco village during the program.
- Not included: Accommodation and the 13 percent Costa Rican VAT, which is added to the total.
- Bring: Comfortable clothing you can move freely in, a journal, a reusable water bottle, and anything that helps you feel at ease.
- Coming alone: Many women arrive on their own.
