Sobre Este Evento

Descrição

Sensory-Friendly Sunday is a quiet, low-stimulation morning at the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, for visitors who find a busy gallery overwhelming. It is a calm way to spend time with Dalí's paintings and the museum's special exhibition, in a supportive environment with staff trained for it. The event is CARD friendly, and all ages are welcome. It suits autistic visitors, people with sensory sensitivities, families, and anyone who wants a gentler, slower pace among the art.

What to Expect

The event runs from 10:00am to 11:30am, and guests are welcome to stay for the rest of the day during the museum's regular operating hours. The galleries are adjusted for comfort:

- Sound levels are reduced throughout the museum.
- Lighting levels are increased.
- A designated quiet area is set aside for anyone who needs a break.
- A suggested stimming area gives people room to let loose.
- Families can take part in a self-guided, sensory-friendly educational activity.
- Staff are specifically trained to provide a more supportive environment.

The Café is available for an early morning beverage or snack. Nothing is scheduled or led: you move through the galleries at your own speed and step aside whenever you need to.

The Place

The Salvador Dalí Museum is home to Dalí's work and hosts special exhibitions. For this morning, the building is set up to feel quieter and easier to move through. The Café is on site, so a snack or a warm drink can be part of the visit before or after you look at the art.

Before You Go

Gallery access is included with admission, and members of the museum enter free. Timed entry booked in advance is recommended, and walk-ups are available as space allows.

The Dalí Alive 360° experience is not part of gallery admission and can be added separately. Please note the museum's advisory about it. It contains simulations, including flashing lights, which may affect people susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy, vertigo or other visual sensitivities, and motion sickness.

Some of Dalí's works also contain nudity and mature images. The museum encourages parental guidance for younger visitors, including open conversation about art and the human body.

No prior experience with art or museums is needed. Come as you are, take the quiet area when you want it, and let the visit be as short or as long as suits you.
