Descrição

You can't overthink your inbox when you're standing in front of a glacier. In Patagonia, the granite peaks and glacial valleys are so vast that habitual thought patterns loosen on their own, and the mind settles into the present moment. The Patagonia Spiritual Tour 2027 is a fourteen-day spiritual retreat across Argentina and Chile that pairs trekking with daily qigong and meditation, using the scale of the land as a way to quiet an overworked nervous system.

The journey is led by Amy Pattee Colvin, a somatic educator and qigong teacher who has studied Taoist practice for nearly thirty years. Her approach is built around awe, which neuroscience links to calming the default mode network, the part of the brain that worries. Rather than a sightseeing trip, the retreat is framed as a somatic intervention: a chance to interrupt patterns of force and find your footing in flow.

If you are a capable, driven person who rarely feels fully off duty, this tour offers a rare combination of physical challenge, stillness and honest conversation, in one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.

What to Expect

The retreat moves between three main areas: the trekking capital of El Chaltén, a traditional working estancia in Los Glaciares National Park, and Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. The group begins in El Calafate, the gateway to Los Glaciares, and gathers for shared dinners throughout the journey.

- Hiking with purpose. Trails range from short walks to an eleven-mile day to Laguna Torre, where icebergs float below Cerro Torre and the Adela Glacier. Viewpoints such as the Mirador de los Cóndores offer panoramas of the Fitz Roy range.
- Qigong and meditation outdoors. Practice happens at scenic waypoints, including at the foot of glaciers, using the landscape's stability to anchor awareness.
- Estancia life. Four nights at a working estancia bring ranch life, horseback rides and lesser-known hiking trails.
- Heartfelt conversation. Group discussions explore self-acceptance and compassion.

The group is small, and the atmosphere is intimate and unhurried. Past travelers on Amy's tours describe well-organized trips with a small outfit rather than large buses, a knowledgeable guide, and a chance to learn about both the place and themselves. You return with a somatic toolkit you can keep using at home.

About Amy Pattee Colvin

Amy Pattee Colvin is a somatic educator who teaches qigong, meditation and compassion practices for capable, driven people whose nervous systems are stuck in overdrive. She blends neuroscience, compassion training and Taoist movement to help people settle an overactive mind, release physical holding patterns and restore vitality, moving from force to flow. Her fascination with the mind-body connection began in childhood, when she watched her father use hypnosis and creative imagery to help her heal from scrapes. Her qigong path began in the mid-1990s, and for nearly thirty years she has studied under Leong Tan, teaching Sum Faht® Meditation and forms he developed.

Venue & Logistics

The tour takes place across Patagonia in Argentina and Chile, beginning in El Calafate and continuing through El Chaltén, Los Glaciares National Park and Torres del Paine National Park. Travelers fly from the US and arrange their own transfer to the first hotel in El Calafate. Hikes are physically active, so bring sturdy trail footwear and layers suited to Patagonian wind. The hikes range from roughly two to eleven miles, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. This departure is listed as sold out on the organizer's page.
