How is this different from Drala's retreats like Foundations of Meditation?

It is listed among Drala's free online programs, which are separate from its longer, multi-date retreats. Foundations of Meditation I: Establishing the Ground and II: Deepening the Path are listed as retreat offerings with multiple dates. A free online program is a lower-commitment way to explore the Buddhist Path category.

What can I do after this program to keep practicing with Drala Mountain Center?

Drala lists a FREE ONLINE SERIES, the Drala Mountain Online Practice Series, which suits continuing at no cost. You could also look at Foundations of Meditation I and II, or Retreat & Renewal, all listed with multiple dates. Check each page for current schedules and fees.

Descrição

Taking Refuge: Where Practice Begins is a free online spiritual workshop offered by Drala Mountain. It takes place entirely online, so you can join from wherever you are.

The program looks at taking refuge as the place where practice begins. It suits anyone curious about what it means to ground a spiritual path, whether you are newly exploring or returning to the foundations of your own practice.

Drala Mountain offers a wide range of retreats and online programs, including meditation and mindfulness, Buddhist path teachings, yoga and wellness, and other free online sessions. This workshop belongs to that free online offering, which makes it an easy first step if you have not practiced with the community before.

Before You Go

The program is free and held online, so there is no travel and no need to pack anything. A quiet place to sit and a reliable internet connection are all you need.

In Buddhism, taking refuge is the traditional entry point to the path, usually described as taking refuge in the Buddha, the dharma (the teachings) and the sangha (the community). The title frames it as where practice begins. The organizer's text here doesn't outline the session content, so check the full program page for the exact approach.

The available description doesn't say that a refuge ceremony is part of the program. If you want to know whether the session is an introduction to the topic or includes a formal vow, check the full program page or contact Drala Mountain Center before you register.
