7-Day Renewal — HUOMN, Sukawati, Bali

The 7-Day Renewal is a somatic healing retreat at HUOMN Retreat Center in Sukawati, Bali, near Ubud. It is for people who want to work with the body rather than the thinking mind: the program uses somatic techniques to help the body release and transmute emotional energy blockages, and breathwork to ease traumatic stress responses. Each week runs Sunday to Saturday and is capped at 14 guests, so the group stays small.

HUOMN is clear about what this is not. It is not a psychological or cognitive-therapy retreat, and it is not medical or psychological care or a substitute for it.

What to Expect

The week is built around the nervous system. Days include breathwork, somatic sessions and yoga, with the focus on settling the body's stress responses and letting held emotion move through. On the first day and again on the seventh, your BOLT Score is measured, a simple breathing assessment that gives you a before-and-after reference point for the week.

Arrival is on Sunday. Check-in opens at 2:00 PM, and orientation begins at 5:00 PM, so plan to be there by 4:30 PM. A fuller daily schedule is available from HUOMN for those who want to see how the days are laid out.

Optional add-ons are available if you want more support: Balinese massage, energy cleansing and sound healing.

The Setting

HUOMN is a somatic retreat center in Sukawati, in the Gianyar area of Bali. It sits about 40 minutes from Ubud and about 60 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS). Airport transfers are not included, so arrange your own transport.

Accommodation and all chef-prepared meals are part of the program. Room prices vary by room type and are set in Indonesian rupiah.

Before You Go

The program includes accommodation, all meals, daily breathwork, somatic sessions and yoga, and the two BOLT Score measurements. Massage, energy cleansing and sound healing cost extra, and so do airport transfers.

Payment is by bank transfer only. You can pay a 50% non-refundable deposit, with the balance due on arrival, or pay in full. Whichever you choose, full payment is required within 7 days of arrival.

Start dates run through the year, and current dates and room prices are listed with HUOMN. Because the retreat is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, anyone under treatment for a health condition may want to speak with their own practitioner before deciding.

HUOMN also runs a separate program, The Immersion, on the island of Sumba in East Sumba. It is an oceanfront program of traditional healing, reconnection with God and work with traditional medicine people, for groups of up to four. It is distinct from the Bali 7-Day Renewal.
