Descrição
This 200-hour yoga teacher training takes place at Anamaya Resort in Montezuma, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, over three weeks. It is a Yoga Alliance certification that blends traditional yoga philosophy with practical, modern teaching skills, and it suits both people who want to teach and those who simply want to deepen their own practice. It is led by Michelle LeHegarate and Danielle Hoguet, and it is open to all kinds of bodies and life experiences. Perfecting a Chaturanga or a headstand is not a requirement.
What to Expect
The training runs Saturday to Saturday for three weeks, with Saturdays off to rest, explore or catch up on sleep. Days follow a steady rhythm. Morning practice begins at 7:00am, followed by breakfast, then a three-hour block of philosophy from 10:00am. After lunch, the afternoon and early evening are given to teaching methodology and asana breakdown, with a snack break and dinner at 7:00pm. Some evenings include extra programming such as movie nights, kirtan or required reading. The schedule is subject to change.
The curriculum is divided into five areas:
- Teaching methodology and sequencing (40 hours): teaching Hatha and Vinyasa, building well-rounded sequences, cueing, modifications, theming, and developing your voice and presence.
- Techniques, training and practice (75 hours): 51 foundational asanas approached through accessibility and safety, plus introductions to Yin, Restorative, Prenatal and Yoga Nidra, and practice with meditation, pranayama, mantra, mudra and the chakra system.
- Anatomy, physiology and alignment (20 hours): functional anatomy, biomechanics, use of props, and verbal and hands-on assists.
- Yoga philosophy and spiritual foundations (50 hours): Patanjali's eight-limbed path, the Yamas and Niyamas, the basics of Ayurveda, and the subtle body.
- The business of yoga and ethics (5 hours): marketing, insurance, teaching opportunities, working with Yoga Alliance, and real-world ethical scenarios.
A further 10 hours go to practicum and teaching labs. You practice teaching every day, receive personal feedback and mentorship, and teach a final class at the end that is meant as a celebration of growth rather than a test.
Recent groups have included students in their late teens and people in their sixties, career changers, retirees, travelers and longtime practitioners. You eat, study and practice together, and many graduates stay in touch afterward.
About Michelle LeHegarate
Michelle LeHegarate, also known as First Nations Yogini, founded Two Rivers Yoga, an international yoga school that brings together traditional and modern yoga. Her practice began in 2009 when she wandered into a pop-up class in Grand Forks, BC, after a barista shift. She became a teacher in 2015 and has more than 8,000 teaching hours and over 1,500 hours of advanced training in hatha, vinyasa, prenatal, yin, restorative and yoga nidra. Since 2021 she has led over 40 teacher trainings in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Peru and Costa Rica. Her classes combine energetic sequences with yogic philosophy, slow fascial release and deep relaxation.
About Danielle Hoguet
Danielle Hoguet is a yoga teacher and Reiki Master from Philadelphia with a doctorate in Physical Therapy. She came to yoga through dance, and after dance injuries turned her toward the study of the body, she found the heart-centered practice she had been looking for. She completed her first teacher training in 2017 and has since gathered over 800 hours of training, more than 3,500 teaching hours, and certifications in restorative yoga, yin, yoga nidra and Reiki. Her teaching emphasizes foundational alignment, breath fluidity and energetic activation, and her physical therapy background helps her guide students safely around injuries and restrictions. She has facilitated teacher trainings and workshops since 2021.
