Two women who once shared a city and a spiritual community sit down to talk, and within minutes the conversation has moved from the mechanics of an Ayurvedic path to the hardest material of a life: sexual assault, a car accident, a nervous system that had been holding too much for too long. Meredith Rom, host of the Rising Women Leaders podcast, introduces her guest, Vinita Prachi Murarka, an Ayurvedic doctor-level practitioner, educator and mystic guide who works on what the episode calls the restoration of coherence in the body, in communities and in the living field of the earth. Their exchange, published as a 44-minute episode, is less a lecture than a map of how one healer's wounds became the ground she now works from, and how that work extends to a question many people rarely ask out loud: whether healing can begin before a child is conceived, with both the mother and the father.

What is Ayurveda, according to someone who was trained in it?

Ayurveda is usually introduced as a system of medicine, and the episode does not reject that framing. What stands out is how Vinita describes the experience of learning it. "Ayurveda is a muse, you know, there is a muse that this wisdom is seeking to inhabit," she told Meredith Rom on the Rising Women Leaders podcast, reflecting on her own formal training (2:00). Her word for the process was "initiation," and she described the years of study as a process that asked more of her than information did. The phrase matters. It frames Ayurveda not as a toolkit to be picked up but as an intelligence that chooses its practitioners and reshapes them in the work.

The episode also makes clear that Ayurveda, for Vinita, sits inside a broader web of practices. Before she trained formally, she had already moved through yoga teacher training, a yoga therapy program, studies in naturopathy and nature cure, and a range of energy and intuitive systems. That layering is important. Her approach to health treats the body as one part of a relationship between biology, emotions, thoughts and what she calls the subtle intelligence that animates them. Meredith's introduction puts it the same way: health is not a state to chase, but a relationship to tend.

How did a childhood encounter with Ayurveda become a lifelong path?

Vinita traces her first contact to a family crisis. Her father became seriously ill when she was young, and the family moved back to India so he could receive Ayurvedic treatment. A guru who taught yoga and Ayurveda came to her small elementary school in the United States, where very few students were Indian. She calls that "the first drop of exposure." A second drop came later, through yoga therapy training and her involvement in the Amma community, where many people were drawn to the Vedic sciences, including Jyotish and Ayurveda.

Taken together, these details describe a healer whose path was never purely academic. It began in a household under strain, and it deepened as she kept asking what healing actually required. The episode returns to this theme repeatedly: the wish to understand suffering is also the wish to be free of it.

What happened when trauma surfaced in college?

The central turn in the conversation comes when Meredith asks about the PTSD Vinita has described publicly (4:06). Her answer is direct. In college, she says, the awakening of old memories from childhood, including an assault she would name as rape, brought a period of intense grief and a renegotiation of identity. "It led to like getting out of the matrix and getting out of the box," she told Meredith (4:47). She describes psychic capacities beginning to open during that time, and a fervent search to get out of suffering. That search led her to yoga classes, yoga therapy, psychotherapy and, eventually, to a closer look at diet. She noticed that eating out of season was affecting her mind, her body and what she could digest.

She is careful not to present her healing as a single event with a clean ending. "I feel like that journey of healing trauma and healing nervous system overload is lifelong," she says, and she names several layers of contribution: prenatal influences, childhood experiences, nutrition, and repeated events that people around her found hard to explain. The episode treats these not as a checklist but as a reminder that the nervous system keeps a record. Healing, in her telling, is the slow work of forgiving herself and others while still allowing the inner child to express rage, grief and frustration.

Can a car accident be a teacher?

Vinita describes a brain injury from a car accident around 2016 or 2017 as the most intense stage of this process. Her metaphor is blunt: it was "the master's thesis of okay, everything that you haven't dealt with in this life, let's shake it up" (7:35). The accident, she explains, thinned her nervous system and thinned what she called the veils, so the protective mechanisms she had relied on to avoid core wounds were no longer available to her.

"What it did is it like thinned my nervous system, it thinned the veils. So, any kind of protector mechanism that I had to not deal with core wounds wasn't there anymore." (Vinita Prachi Murarka, Rising Women Leaders podcast, 7:35)

She is also clear that this was not gentle. "It wasn't warm and fuzzy," she says. It was deep digging into the nervous system, somatic patterns, inherited belief systems, heavy metal detoxification and diet, alongside prayer and Ayurveda. Ayurveda, she says, was the container that held all of it. That word, container, recurs across her account. A healing system is valuable not because it promises to remove the pain but because it gives the pain a structure in which it can be metabolized.

What is the "alchemical wound," and why does it matter for healers?

Vinita offers a concept that gives her story its shape. Our own experiences, she says, can become "the compost" and "the fertilizer" that make us better healers, more present with other people, and able to widen what human understanding can hold. She calls this the alchemical wound (6:51). The idea does not romanticize suffering. It insists that the wound is material, something that has to be worked with, and that the healer's authority comes from having done that work rather than from having avoided it.

Meredith responds with a reflection of her own about the soul's choices, the hardest karmic lessons, and the support of gurus and masters. The exchange lingers on a tension familiar to anyone on a spiritual path: the willingness to go into difficult places is real, and so is the question of what our deeper self chose in order to learn. Vinita does not resolve that tension into a doctrine. She keeps it open, which is part of why the conversation feels honest.

Why does womb healing start with sexual trauma?

The episode's focus on fertility grows directly out of this history. Vinita explains that her work with womb healing and sexual trauma began in college, when she hosted a writing group, for her thesis, on healing relationships, trauma and sexuality, particularly within the diaspora (10:09). The group worked with the physical body through meditation and writing, and eventually created a theater production that was witnessed by a larger community.

From that work she arrived at a conviction she states plainly: many of these stories stay hidden, and the shame around them gets lodged in the body, in old wounds and in the nervous system. That shame, she says, becomes a barrier to vitality, joy and full expression. She also cites a widely repeated statistic, that at least one in three women have experienced sexual assault, and notes that she suspects the real figure is higher because of underreporting. The statistic is her framing for why the womb, and the emotional history carried there, cannot be treated as a separate subject from the rest of a person's health.

What does healing before conception look like?

This is the question the episode is built around, and Vinita's answer widens the frame considerably. When Meredith asks how the work reaches into the womb and the ancestral field, Vinita talks about the ways we carry inheritance, including what she calls the ancestral and the survivor impulse, and about the importance of addressing these threads before a new life begins (18:29). Her point is that the parents' physical, emotional and spiritual states are part of the preparation, not a separate matter for after pregnancy.

The approach she describes includes digestion, seasonal eating and the enkindling of what Ayurveda calls digestive fire, which she links to nourishment for the whole person. She also mentions practices that sometimes include tapping and a long process of listening to and supporting the body. The aim, as the episode frames it, is to help prospective parents build the capacity to care for themselves, so that their nervous systems can hold the demands of pregnancy and early parenthood. She speaks about the science and the art of this work together, and says her practice treats each person as a whole universe rather than a set of symptoms.

The episode closes with an emphasis on surrender. Its description lists "releasing control and learning to place our deepest desires in the hands of the Divine" among the themes, and Vinita's tone throughout is that of someone who has learned the limits of effort. Healing, in this telling, is less about forcing an outcome than about restoring the inner harmony and inner wisdom that let a person meet what life brings.

Where to go from here

If this conversation resonated, the full episode runs about 44 minutes and is available on Spotify through the Rising Women Leaders show. Meredith Rom's website, meredithrom.com/podcast, hosts the series, and her Instagram account, @risingwomenleaders, carries updates. For readers who want to think through these ideas more concretely, the most useful next step is the one Vinita returns to again and again: listen to the body, notice where shame and survival patterns have settled, and bring that awareness to a practitioner or a community you trust. Ayurveda, as she describes it, is less a set of answers than a relationship that asks you to keep showing up.

[0:04] >> I'm here today with my dear friend

[0:08] Benita Prachi Murarka. She is an

[0:12] Ayurvedic doctor level practitioner,

[0:14] educator, and mystic guide devoted to

[0:16] the restoration of coherence within the

[0:20] body, within communities, and within the

[0:23] living field of the earth.

[0:25] Her work bridges ancient science and

[0:27] modern understanding, the measurable and

[0:30] the mysterious. She helps people

[0:32] remember that health isn't a state to

[0:34] chase, but a relationship to tend

[0:38] between their biology, emotions,

[0:40] thoughts, and the subtle intelligence

[0:43] that animates them.

[0:45] Whether she's teaching, speaking with

[0:48] physicians, or working one-on-one,

[0:51] her approach is the same.

[0:53] Listen deeply,

[0:54] meet the person before her as a whole

[0:57] universe,

[0:58] and guide them back to their own inner

[1:00] authority.

[1:02] Thank you for being here.

[1:04] >> Thank you so much for the invitation,

[1:06] Meredith.

[1:07] >> [laughter]

[1:08] >> Yeah, it's lovely to reconnect. So, we

[1:11] had a little bit of time together when

[1:13] we both lived in Boulder, Colorado.

[1:16] We're also connected through a dear

[1:18] friend who

[1:19] um

[1:21] who also goes to the Amma Ashram in

[1:23] India where we have both spent some

[1:25] time.

[1:27] And yeah, when I met you, you were deep

[1:29] in your studies of Ayurveda, becoming an

[1:33] Ayurvedic doctor, and now you're on the

[1:36] other side of that, right?

[1:38] >> Now I'm on the other side.

[1:40] >> Wow, congrats.

[1:42] >> Thank you.

[1:43] It was quite a deep initiation into

[1:47] Ayurveda.

[1:49] And what I share with people is like

[1:52] Ayurveda is a muse, you know, there is a

[1:55] muse that this wisdom is seeking to

[1:58] inhabit. So, that's what I feel like the

[2:01] entire process was.

[2:03] >> Wow. Wow, I want to hear more about this

[2:07] system and how it can help people. And I

[2:10] also want to hear

[2:12] how did you come onto this path? And I

[2:16] know a lot of times our own healing

[2:18] journeys lead us into our purpose. So,

[2:22] uh where would you like to start? What

[2:25] was happening with your health and your

[2:27] well-being to find this path?

[2:30] >> Well, you know, Meredith, you talked

[2:32] about both of our relationships with

[2:34] Amma.

[2:35] And I I grew up in an Indian family,

[2:39] grew up

[2:40] a bit in India and mostly in the United

[2:42] States.

[2:44] And when I was young, my father went

[2:47] through a health crisis.

[2:49] And we moved back to India so he could

[2:51] get Ayurvedic treatment. And his guru

[2:56] came and taught yoga and Ayurveda at my

[3:00] tiny little elementary school in Indiana

[3:03] with very few Indians.

[3:05] And so that was like that first drop of

[3:08] exposure.

[3:09] Um

[3:11] I would say the second drop of exposure

[3:13] was

[3:15] after doing yoga teacher training and

[3:18] then doing a yoga therapy training where

[3:20] we had a weekend of Iyer yoga.

[3:23] And then being within the Amma

[3:25] community, a lot of people were

[3:28] interested in the Vedic sciences,

[3:29] whether it's Jyotish, Vedic astrology,

[3:33] or Ayurveda.

[3:35] And I kept going deeper and deeper into

[3:39] the healing path, studying um

[3:43] paganism, Access Consciousness,

[3:46] different energy systems,

[3:49] uh ways of accessing intuition, nature

[3:52] cure, naturopathy.

[3:54] And then it was my own healing journey

[3:58] that led me to study Ayurveda as as a

[4:01] formal practitioner.

[4:06] >> Um I I read on your website that you had

[4:09] some PTSD. What was that experience

[4:12] like?

[4:13] And later I I read it that you had a

[4:16] brain injury and so these were both

[4:19] deeply healing processes, I imagine. Do

[4:21] you want to share anything about that

[4:23] time of your life?

[4:25] >> So

[4:27] I experienced PTSD when I was in college

[4:31] and it was the awakening of memories

[4:36] that were pretty traumatic from

[4:37] childhood when

[4:40] someone had assaulted me um

[4:43] to the degree that I would definitely

[4:45] count as rape.

[4:47] And it led to like getting out of the

[4:50] matrix and getting out of the box. And a

[4:53] lot of my psychic capacities started

[4:57] waking up as I was deep in

[5:01] the grief and the renegotiation of

[5:04] identity at the time.

[5:06] And it caused me to be like a fervent

[5:10] seeker to get out of suffering, you

[5:13] know.

[5:14] So that's when I started practicing

[5:16] yoga. I'd known about yoga as I

[5:18] mentioned from when I was a child, but

[5:21] then I started attending yoga classes

[5:24] getting yoga therapy sessions,

[5:27] psychotherapy

[5:29] and

[5:30] um

[5:32] looking at nutrition, diet because it

[5:34] was

[5:35] not eating seasonally was affecting my

[5:38] health. It was affecting my mind. It was

[5:40] affecting the way that I felt in the

[5:43] body, what I could digest.

[5:45] And

[5:48] I feel like that journey of healing

[5:51] trauma and healing nervous system

[5:55] overload is lifelong and there's been

[5:58] many contributors. There's been prenatal

[6:02] contributors. There's childhood

[6:05] contributors. there's nutrition contri-

[6:08] contributors.

[6:10] Um

[6:11] there's been many events that have

[6:12] happened in my life that have caused

[6:14] PTSD where people would be like "You're

[6:17] a tiny little Indian woman who went to

[6:20] Northwestern. Like, how did somebody

[6:22] stab you in the back? Like, how are you

[6:24] in that situation?" But, sometimes, you

[6:27] know, those kinds of things happen. So,

[6:30] I think there's something about our own

[6:32] field,

[6:33] learning a survivor impulse, past life

[6:36] karma, that all weaves into it. And,

[6:40] it's really led to a journey of

[6:42] forgiving myself and forgiving others

[6:45] while still being able to like tend to

[6:47] inner child and express rage and grief

[6:51] and the frustration that comes with

[6:53] being on that journey.

[6:54] Um and it's the alchemical wound, right?

[6:57] Like, our own experiences become the

[7:00] compost, become the fertilizer for us to

[7:04] be better healers, for us to be more

[7:06] present with people, to have a broader

[7:09] expansion of human understanding.

[7:12] And, what I would say is the brain

[7:15] injury, uh the car accident that I

[7:17] experienced in I think it was like 20

[7:21] 16 or 2017 was like the creme de la

[7:23] creme. It was like the master's thesis

[7:26] of okay, everything that you haven't

[7:29] dealt with in this life, let's shake it

[7:32] up. So, it's brought to the top. And,

[7:35] what it did is it like thinned my

[7:37] nervous system, it thinned the veils.

[7:40] So, any kind of protector mechanism that

[7:43] I had to not deal with core wounds, um

[7:48] wasn't there anymore. You know, I

[7:51] I had to deal

[7:53] It really felt like a dealing. It wasn't

[7:56] It wasn't like warm and fuzzy of like,

[7:58] "Ooh, I'm going down this deep

[8:00] excavation." It was this like deep

[8:03] digging into different areas of

[8:07] my nervous system, somatics,

[8:10] uh belief systems that I inherited,

[8:13] heavy metal detoxification,

[8:16] like diet, and

[8:19] a whole range of healing modalities

[8:21] including prayer.

[8:23] And of course Ayurveda.

[8:25] Um

[8:26] that was

[8:28] really a container that held it all.

[8:31] >> Wow.

[8:33] Wow. I've heard

[8:35] people say sometimes when we get to our

[8:39] last lifetimes on Earth, it's like

[8:42] that's when we get really serious and

[8:44] we're like, "Okay, I'm going in for the

[8:46] hard karmas now."

[8:48] >> [laughter]

[8:49] >> Uh-huh.

[8:49] >> And um the fact that we have the support

[8:53] of the gurus, the masters, the you know,

[8:57] that too sometimes can

[8:59] have us all want to just go in and

[9:01] clear.

[9:02] And um

[9:04] not easy. It's like both

[9:08] the the willingness to go into those

[9:10] hard places and on some level maybe our

[9:13] soul choosing this because it was going

[9:15] to lead us on a healing path, which was

[9:18] going to lead us to help all the people

[9:21] that we're here to help.

[9:22] Um but thank you share for sharing more

[9:24] of your background and I it makes more

[9:27] sense now too

[9:28] why you've been so interested in the

[9:29] womb and the womb healing and fertility

[9:34] work that you're doing and

[9:36] um

[9:37] yeah, do you want to share anything else

[9:39] specific to that of just

[9:41] how you've been helping women in the

[9:43] womb related

[9:45] areas?

[9:46] >> Yes, so

[9:48] you know, as we know,

[9:51] unfortunately with the statistics at

[9:53] least one in three women have

[9:55] experienced sexual assault.

[9:57] Um my my guess is it's more, but it's

[10:01] been underreported and there's varying

[10:04] degrees.

[10:05] And my work with womb healing and trauma

[10:09] healing, sexual trauma healing actually

[10:11] began began in college when I started

[10:15] hosting a group for my thesis, a writing

[10:18] group on healing,

[10:20] uh relationships, trauma,

[10:23] sexuality,

[10:25] uh especially within the diaspora. So,

[10:27] we started working with our physical

[10:30] bodies, we did meditations, we did

[10:33] writing,

[10:34] and then created a whole theater

[10:35] production out of it to be witnessed

[10:38] within group and within a larger group

[10:41] community context.

[10:44] And

[10:45] what I have begun to realize is that a

[10:49] lot of these stories remain hidden or

[10:52] there's shame around it, and that shame

[10:55] gets lodged in our bodies. Often times

[10:58] it gets lodged in our wounds, it gets

[11:01] lodged in our nervous systems, and it

[11:06] becomes a barrier to accessing our

[11:09] fullest vitality, joy, and expression.

[11:14] And also working with those wounds can

[11:18] be a gift for spiritual transformation,

[11:21] for higher levels of compassion, for

[11:25] coming out of the matrix,

[11:27] and I feel like a lot of my work in this

[11:30] lifetime, it's personal, but it's also

[11:33] collective karma clearing. It's

[11:35] collective karma clearing for women, for

[11:39] humanity, for the ancestors because the

[11:43] challenges that we're working with right

[11:45] now are not new, you know, there's some

[11:48] of these are thousands of years old, and

[11:52] the womb

[11:54] is this incredible portal to creation,

[11:58] which I feel like has been hijacked by

[12:01] patriarchy, by industrialism,

[12:04] by capitalism,

[12:06] and there's really an invitation that as

[12:10] we go deep into our bodies, into our

[12:13] prayer life, into the healing that's

[12:16] needed, we're moving closer to the Atman

[12:19] as well. And closer to our capacity to

[12:24] be in greater coherence with God, with

[12:26] the divine mother, with the creation

[12:29] portal, which is the nurturing mother,

[12:32] which is what Amma has taught us. And

[12:35] it's about like reclaiming the ability

[12:38] to be a baby, to be a full expression of

[12:42] womanhood in a world that really does

[12:46] not support it. And I feel like that's

[12:48] an extremely

[12:50] powerful, potent act that many of us who

[12:54] have been priestesses in past lives,

[12:57] have undergone initiations in this life,

[13:00] are being called to lead the way. And I

[13:03] almost feel like there's no choice, you

[13:05] know, if we're embodied as women,

[13:07] there's no choice. It's like either

[13:10] reclaim your power

[13:12] or suffer. Like, what else is there?

[13:17] >> So powerful.

[13:19] Well, can you bring us deeper into

[13:23] some of the practices that have helped

[13:25] you and then also I want to hear just a

[13:27] more in-depth

[13:29] understanding of Ayurveda, or you were

[13:32] pronouncing it Ayur Vedia, so tell me

[13:35] more about how you use it, how yeah, how

[13:40] you work with clients and all of that.

[13:42] >> So, with some of the practices around

[13:44] womb healing, I primarily work with

[13:47] people

[13:48] over Zoom, and then people will come for

[13:51] intensive retreats with me in Kauai and

[13:55] different parts globally.

[13:57] And I will, you know, first work with a

[14:01] nervous system reset, where people are

[14:03] getting into

[14:05] their own rhythm, the circadian rhythm

[14:09] of where we are on a daily level,

[14:12] seasonal level, what is called Ritu

[14:15] Charya,

[14:16] and then their own 28-day-ish

[14:19] cycle, you know, with the lunar rhythm

[14:22] and the menstrual cycle. And oftentimes

[14:25] that has to do with like learning

[14:27] pranayama, doing brahmari breath where

[14:30] we're resetting the nervous system. It

[14:33] has to do with bringing in herbs like

[14:35] brahmi and tulsi. Um

[14:39] ashwagandha if it's appropriate for that

[14:40] person and shatavari, things that are

[14:43] calming down the nervous system

[14:45] and also enkindling the digestive

[14:48] process where you can process your food,

[14:52] things that are coming in through your

[14:53] senses and trauma. And so oftentimes

[14:57] I'll give medicated nasal drops that are

[15:00] helping shift the neurobiology

[15:03] for people and it's very much of a

[15:06] health space. So what I find, you know,

[15:08] just like you do Meredith, we call in

[15:11] our guides and our higher selves when

[15:14] we're in a meeting so that it's not just

[15:16] the personality that's forward but the

[15:19] higher self is guiding the next level of

[15:24] coming into recognizing spirit in

[15:27] physical form.

[15:29] And so

[15:31] sometimes we'll include tapping

[15:34] self-massage

[15:35] uh I'll do light language transmissions.

[15:38] I'll have people hold their bodies and

[15:41] we'll work with the ovaries and the

[15:43] testes and clear the womb with

[15:46] meditation and specific energy work

[15:49] uh that's been doing through surrogacy

[15:52] or like hands-on when they're with me.

[15:55] And you also mentioned the difference

[15:58] between Ayurveda and Ayurvidya.

[16:00] So

[16:02] traditionally it is known as Ayurveda.

[16:05] Ayu

[16:06] life, veda [snorts] the science of

[16:10] and

[16:12] it is the science it's the art and

[16:14] science of life, which has been around

[16:16] for over 7,000 years.

[16:18] And I also brought in Ayurveda, which is

[16:22] the wisdom of life, which is inherent in

[16:25] ourselves, inherent in our

[16:27] consciousness.

[16:29] And it really brings forth this

[16:33] feminine, divine

[16:36] um

[16:37] other world aspect that's there as well.

[16:40] Where each vidya, each science of wisdom

[16:46] is

[16:48] is um I would say an egregore or it is

[16:54] it is a body of wisdom. It's a

[16:56] relationship that we build within

[16:59] ourselves and with the beings that

[17:02] support it on the spiritual level and in

[17:05] the physical world. So, Ayurveda was not

[17:09] just developed by humans. It was

[17:11] developed by gods, by galactics. There

[17:16] are spiritual beings like Dhanvantari

[17:19] who hold it. And part of my practice as

[17:23] a practitioner is to keep attuning to

[17:26] those beings because that's where the

[17:28] wisdom faculty comes from. The knowledge

[17:31] faculty comes from everything that I've

[17:33] studied and the application of

[17:36] hypotheses with cases. But the wisdom

[17:39] faculty comes from the attunement with

[17:43] whoever is sitting with me and working

[17:46] with the spiritual world who has my

[17:48] back. So, it's about accessing that

[17:51] wisdom that is beyond the five senses,

[17:55] but does, you know, inhabit the sixth

[17:57] sense, which is the mind.

[18:01] >> It feels like you're working on so many

[18:03] levels.

[18:04] There's the physical practices, there's

[18:08] the energetic, there's maybe the

[18:10] nutrition or the

[18:12] um healing modalities with Ayurveda.

[18:16] Uh

[18:17] but yeah, also

[18:19] working on so many of these other

[18:21] levels, the spiritual, the mental, the

[18:26] energetic.

[18:28] >> It's powerful.

[18:29] >> the ancestral.

[18:30] >> Yeah, the quantum and the ancestral.

[18:32] >> [laughter]

[18:33] >> Wow.

[18:35] Well, tell me more about what you've

[18:37] been focusing on right now, which is

[18:39] this whole summit focused specifically

[18:41] on fertility.

[18:43] >> Mhm.

[18:44] So,

[18:46] we you know, by the time this airs, we

[18:49] will have had an incredible three days

[18:53] with over 30 speakers on fertility and

[18:58] virility and how to increase vitality.

[19:02] And you know, I could say that as

[19:06] an Ayurvedic I I created this because

[19:09] I'm an Ayurvedic practitioner, because

[19:11] I'm an Ayurvedic doctor.

[19:13] And that is true to a certain extent.

[19:16] And that's because

[19:19] I realized that I was as I was treating

[19:21] disease, as I was treating

[19:23] disorganization

[19:25] and the causes of disease, that many of

[19:29] these started actually before

[19:31] conception. And it was based on what

[19:34] epigenetic markers are being turned on

[19:37] in the parents. What is their stress

[19:40] level? What is the coherent or

[19:42] incoherent field that the child is

[19:45] coming into? Are they coming into a

[19:48] space of love,

[19:50] including in the womb, or are they

[19:52] coming into a space of trauma or fear?

[19:55] And that had to do with how is the

[19:57] mother being supported? What was the

[20:00] nutrition like for the mother and for

[20:02] the father? And then was the mother

[20:05] supported during her pregnancy? Because

[20:08] that is the time when the unconscious

[20:12] being of the child is formed, when the

[20:15] nervous system of the child is formed,

[20:17] when the heart of the child is formed,

[20:20] the placenta, which is coming from the

[20:23] father's DNA, is informing whether

[20:28] we feel safe receiving nutrition or what

[20:30] kind of support there's going to be on

[20:33] the other side. And then there's this

[20:35] entire thing of like, okay, is the

[20:38] uterus safe? Is the world around me

[20:41] going to be safe? Am I going to feel

[20:43] safe and loved when I come out? And then

[20:46] at birth, there's how many of the stem

[20:50] cells that are creating our immunity are

[20:53] being transformed or transferred from

[20:56] the placenta? Do the lungs have the full

[21:00] opportunity to open up so they can

[21:03] breathe fully and not be at the effect

[21:06] of allergies and asthma

[21:10] before the umbilical cord is cut, you

[21:12] know? So, it's like instead of treating

[21:15] disease, how do I

[21:18] go to the root of where disease starts?

[21:23] And then how do we give parents

[21:27] practices and support so they can build

[21:30] that vitality that is being passed on to

[21:33] their children, which is going to affect

[21:35] seven generations. Ayurveda is creating

[21:38] health for seven generations for healthy

[21:41] living for 120 years. Like that is what

[21:46] the practice is.

[21:47] And so it's about coming back to that

[21:50] original practice and educating people

[21:55] for that.

[21:56] Um so, that's, you know, where my

[21:58] passion is as an Ayurvedic practitioner,

[22:01] as an Ayurvedic doctor, where

[22:04] I much rather prevent disease and give

[22:09] people the tools for their own vitality

[22:13] so that they feel healthy and vital and

[22:15] are able to take care of themselves,

[22:17] their children, and their communities

[22:20] than treat disease. You know, that is

[22:22] the stopgap to reverse things so we can

[22:25] go back to our original blue blueprint

[22:28] of vitality.

[22:30] >> Wow.

[22:31] It's such a high-level mission. You're

[22:34] >> [laughter]

[22:35] >> like, "Okay, let's just start from

[22:37] before the conception even happens."

[22:40] Let's start there.

[22:42] And [clears throat] there's uh so much

[22:45] power that can come through

[22:47] supporting them these mothers and these

[22:49] fathers calling in the soul and

[22:52] supporting that pregnancy for the

[22:54] generations coming in and all that's

[22:57] going to shift in that place.

[23:00] Wow.

[23:02] >> And

[23:03] Meredith, you pointed to exactly

[23:06] the other part of that where the

[23:08] children who are coming in

[23:11] you know, I've been hearing them, I

[23:13] would say, for about two decades. That's

[23:16] how I got into

[23:18] education, Waldorf training, studying

[23:21] the Gurukula system in India, and what

[23:24] is needed for the children to come in of

[23:27] the future, which I actually say is

[23:30] the children of now who are coming in in

[23:34] this transition of ages in this great

[23:37] turning. And what I kept hearing from

[23:41] them is, "We want to come in. You know,

[23:44] there are like incredible, high-level

[23:48] masters, avatar- like beings who want to

[23:53] come in, who even though we know Earth

[23:57] is so hard, you know, it is [laughter]

[23:59] so hard.

[24:00] They they are

[24:02] coming in to help us transition

[24:05] to a more peaceful, loving Earth.

[24:09] Um but

[24:11] most humans, most parents aren't ready

[24:15] for the level of spiritual alignment and

[24:19] physical coherence that's required.

[24:22] Health, sperm health, ovum health, uh

[24:26] fertility has actually been declining

[24:29] even though we spend more money on

[24:31] health care. You know, we're spending

[24:34] less time in nature, more women are

[24:37] feeling the stress of living in a

[24:41] patriarchal society, um and jobs that

[24:45] don't honor their wombs um and don't

[24:48] honor them as women even if there is a

[24:51] satisfaction in being able to share

[24:55] their intelligence as and wisdom with

[24:57] the world, there's also this like

[25:01] critical part where women are

[25:04] undernourished. Women overall are

[25:07] undernourished in the systems that we

[25:10] live in and that's why there are

[25:12] irregular menstrual cycles.

[25:14] Endometriosis

[25:16] actually begins with um balance of

[25:19] hormones when you're still in the womb

[25:22] and then it like show shows up later

[25:26] with extra triggers. So,

[25:29] I feel so passionate because I realized

[25:34] that

[25:35] it took me a decade to heal from a car

[25:39] accident and a brain injury

[25:41] because of the weaknesses that came in

[25:45] in utero and early on in my childhood

[25:49] because my mom was not supported and

[25:52] generations of women were not taught to

[25:54] be supported. And then I had to like

[25:57] keep

[25:58] convincing the medical system and my

[26:01] family that my body was worth tending to

[26:04] and I had to keep convincing myself that

[26:08] my body was worth tending to.

[26:10] And in a way

[26:13] the brain injury was the greatest

[26:16] initiation because there was no way I

[26:20] could function in normal society. What

[26:23] was to be my career track would have

[26:25] been to be in USAID or the State

[26:29] Department or a really high functioning

[26:33] job, which I think are extremely

[26:35] valuable.

[26:36] Um, but that wasn't my sole mission and

[26:39] sole purpose carried forth from past

[26:42] lifetimes. So, as we're talking, you

[26:44] know, I can feel my womb burning.

[26:48] >> [laughter]

[26:49] >> But it's not burning with pain. It's

[26:52] burning with this intensity of

[26:55] reclamation.

[26:58] >> Wow.

[26:59] So, that car accident really pivoted

[27:02] your entire career path. Would you say

[27:05] that?

[27:06] >> I would say it pivoted and it it brought

[27:09] things forth. Where I was already doing

[27:12] healing work. I'd been doing healing

[27:14] work

[27:15] um, for 7 to 9 years, depending on how

[27:18] you look at it.

[27:20] And I kept wanting to be normal

[27:23] as normal as I could.

[27:25] And maybe even deny that being

[27:30] uh, a practitioner was my main path or

[27:33] working in the healing field.

[27:36] In this

[27:37] podcast, I've talked about my connection

[27:39] to the other realms. And I still have

[27:42] this Meredith where I'll be sitting in a

[27:45] meeting

[27:46] and I'll see other beings show up, you

[27:48] know, like Rudolf Steiner often comes

[27:50] through. Ita Wegman, who founded

[27:53] Anthroposophical Medicine,

[27:55] um, Anastasia

[27:57] from the Ringing Cedars series will show

[27:59] up or other guides.

[28:02] And I have this like frustrated feeling

[28:05] where I was like, "No. Nobody else can

[28:08] see them. I'm the only one looking at

[28:10] them." And now I have to tap in and like

[28:16] and work with this. And I I get

[28:18] frustrated because I would

[28:21] rather be normal.

[28:23] I would rather hide.

[28:26] I would rather know that what I'm

[28:28] experiencing is true and is verifiable

[28:32] by other people around me. And sometimes

[28:34] it is. Sometimes I'm around other seers

[28:36] who are also

[28:38] perceiving similar

[28:41] um similar things. And when we're

[28:43] together, it's pure magic. It's pure

[28:47] fun. It's pure joy.

[28:49] Uh and it's great to play in those

[28:53] fields. And sometimes it's hard. It's

[28:57] It's hard when

[28:59] I would much rather hide. It's hard when

[29:04] the gifts of the priestess, especially

[29:07] when they have come on in a

[29:10] non-traditional way.

[29:12] I've I've I've had initiations with

[29:14] Amma. Um

[29:16] And it's not like I walked through a

[29:19] traditional priestess training or I have

[29:24] received

[29:26] transmission

[29:28] physically within Sri Vidya.

[29:31] I have received transmission into the

[29:34] order of

[29:36] the purple amethyst. Uh the order of the

[29:39] amethyst heart from Amritananda Ma.

[29:42] And so many of these initiations have

[29:47] come through

[29:48] the other world.

[29:50] And so

[29:52] I think I've gotten all these degrees

[29:56] to prove that I have something to share

[29:59] from an unconscious point of view.

[30:03] And

[30:05] I am so welcoming this opportunity to be

[30:08] with you because I feel safe to share.

[30:12] >> Mhm.

[30:12] >> I feel safe to share about the priestess

[30:15] aspect that has come through

[30:18] the initiation of life, through the

[30:20] mystery school of life. Even though I've

[30:22] attended mystery schools and done a lot

[30:25] of inner work, it's come through

[30:27] remembrance.

[30:28] >> Yeah.

[30:31] A lot of [clears throat] people are

[30:32] feeling that now.

[30:34] It's

[30:35] amazing how often I get on the phone

[30:37] with someone who's like, "I was just

[30:39] meditating and

[30:42] the word priestess came to my mind and I

[30:44] have no idea what it means and now I'm

[30:46] Googling and finding you."

[30:48] >> [laughter]

[30:49] >> Yeah, there's an awakening happening.

[30:51] It's very special.

[30:53] Um

[30:55] I have a couple other questions for you.

[30:57] Is motherhood something that you feel

[31:00] you want to step into in your path?

[31:03] Just curious.

[31:05] You know, it's also out of our hands,

[31:07] but

[31:08] >> It is and it is it is something I would

[31:12] like to step into

[31:14] and it's been a grieving process for me

[31:16] to um

[31:18] whereas I know you know astrology and I

[31:20] have Sanyasa yoga in my chart which is

[31:24] >> Oh.

[31:25] >> Saturn which

[31:28] means you give yourself to a world of

[31:30] service.

[31:31] >> Yeah.

[31:31] >> Um but can make

[31:33] being in relationship, being in a

[31:36] individual partnership, and motherhood

[31:39] a bit more challenging.

[31:41] >> Yeah.

[31:41] >> so

[31:43] there are I do have a desire for

[31:45] motherhood and I also feel the immense

[31:49] pain and the lack of support

[31:52] and community support that is around

[31:54] mothers.

[31:55] >> Yeah.

[31:55] >> And

[31:56] I'm really scared, you know, I've been

[31:59] working

[32:01] deeply on healing my own trauma and

[32:04] ancestral trauma because I would never

[32:07] want to pass that on.

[32:09] And 5 years ago I was not interested in

[32:12] having children.

[32:14] Moving to Kauai, being with the divine

[32:18] grandmother,

[32:19] the Aina, helped heal a lot of that and

[32:22] I've been calling that in and being

[32:25] patient. And I know that if it doesn't

[32:29] happen on this

[32:31] biological level

[32:33] um I'll grieve it and find other ways to

[32:37] mother.

[32:39] And I feel like I'm being called into

[32:42] motherhood in general, you know, moving

[32:44] from the maiden archetype to the mother

[32:47] archetype.

[32:48] And there's a transmutation happening in

[32:51] my body where

[32:52] I would love to feel supported in that.

[32:55] To be a mother of Matre Sophia, our

[32:59] organization, this wisdom body, which is

[33:03] an offering to the divine mother.

[33:06] Um

[33:07] and in all aspects of my life and I'm

[33:10] feeling the wound around motherhood

[33:11] that's present. Um

[33:14] as well.

[33:15] >> Yeah.

[33:16] We'll see how your path unfolds, but

[33:19] I've heard that some people who come in

[33:22] with more of a

[33:24] um

[33:25] you know, renunciate, monk, nun, like

[33:28] here to be actually carry a much bigger

[33:32] service to family, like holding a much

[33:36] bigger family that needs the holding.

[33:39] And I see you doing that now in just the

[33:41] work that you're putting out there in

[33:42] the world. And yeah. We'll just keep

[33:46] putting it in the hands of the divine.

[33:48] Um thanks for sharing about that. And I

[33:51] also want to ask you about the

[33:53] transition from the

[33:55] mother archetype or that time of life

[33:58] into the queen and the crone cuz I have

[34:02] some clients right now who are

[34:04] um going through that perimenopause

[34:06] phase and transitioning into the other

[34:09] side of not having a cycle anymore. And

[34:12] it just seems like such a tender time

[34:14] where a lot comes up and I know Ayurveda

[34:17] could help support. Anything you want to

[34:19] share about that phase of life?

[34:22] >> Yes, so what I would like to say is that

[34:25] with each of those transitions of the

[34:27] womb um including perimenopause and

[34:30] menopause it's a great opportunity

[34:34] to heal unresolved imprints, whether

[34:37] they're from birth

[34:38] from puberty uh from giving birth, from

[34:43] what was said about the feminine.

[34:46] This is the time that I feel like the

[34:50] Kali rage aspect can really come up, and

[34:53] that's part of the heat of the hot

[34:56] flashes of I will not let this happen

[35:01] anymore. You know, like whatever is not

[35:04] processed can have an opportunity to be

[35:07] processed within the higher spiritual

[35:11] bodies that are incarnating at that time

[35:15] and transforming the womb and in the

[35:18] ovaries. In Ayurveda, we say that this

[35:21] is when a lot of the fire that has been

[35:24] driving us towards outward focus,

[35:27] whether it's our children or our career,

[35:31] recedes from the physical body, and it

[35:34] can become this inner fire for

[35:37] spirituality and truth. And what comes

[35:40] in is more of Vata, or the air and space

[35:44] element, which moves us more into the

[35:47] etheric body and the wisdom body. So,

[35:50] the practices for perimenopause are

[35:53] actually very similar for postpartum and

[35:56] for lactation. It's about soothing the

[35:59] nervous system

[36:01] um through pranayama, through

[36:03] self-massage.

[36:05] Um it's about really nourishing herbs

[36:09] um such as shatavari,

[36:11] vidari, nourishing foods, increasing

[36:15] protein intake. Because when women are

[36:18] hitting perimenopause, they actually

[36:20] need more protein.

[36:22] And um instead of the ovaries producing

[36:27] estrogen and progesterone, now the fat

[36:31] that is going to create this more

[36:33] rounder, full-bodied figure is going to

[36:35] produce that. So, we actually need to

[36:37] nourish the body in a different way with

[36:41] really good omega-3s, really good fats,

[36:44] really good oils, really amazing

[36:46] nurturance because it's that tender

[36:48] time. It's that tender time of

[36:50] transition.

[36:52] And I feel like community is important,

[36:54] really having sisters

[36:58] who are on a similar path, elders who've

[37:01] walked through it.

[37:03] And mostly I work with women. I mostly

[37:06] work with women and I'm working with

[37:08] women in the transitional cycle,

[37:10] especially menopause. And I've had women

[37:13] who have been

[37:15] uh struggling with hot flashes,

[37:20] aggression,

[37:22] um

[37:23] feeling frustration

[37:26] for months if not years and they've come

[37:30] to me, we have reoriented their diet so

[37:33] that there's a detoxification

[37:35] but a nourishment happening.

[37:38] Um we've reorganized some of the inner

[37:41] psychology

[37:42] around the fear of re- losing

[37:46] reproductive vitality and then

[37:50] some of the

[37:52] tinctures that I've developed with Matri

[37:55] Ayurveda under the guidance of Mother

[37:57] Mary,

[37:58] those have

[38:00] like those have shifted their hormones

[38:03] within weeks. So women do not have to

[38:06] use uh extra progesterone creams or

[38:10] um

[38:12] things from the allopathic

[38:14] pharmacy unless they want to. But we're

[38:18] finding ways where women come back home

[38:22] to their bodies and their inner wisdom.

[38:25] And that's also where I work very

[38:27] differently um in terms of Ayurveda

[38:32] where

[38:33] our meetings are long because we are

[38:37] entering the field of your own

[38:39] remembrance and your own divine

[38:41] blueprint. I am asking questions to help

[38:46] the person the personality re-access

[38:51] their own innate wisdom and wisdom to

[38:54] their own body. So, that's what a lot of

[38:57] the practice is of tuning in together is

[39:00] about re-attuning to one's own wisdom.

[39:03] I'm sharing practices to help reignite

[39:09] and rekindle that wisdom, but my work as

[39:13] an Ayurvedic guide, as a doula, is to

[39:17] help people come back to their own

[39:19] wisdom and recalibrate that and access

[39:23] their own divine portal

[39:26] during each of those transitions. And I

[39:29] know that it can be super hard and the

[39:31] nervous system can get totally out of

[39:33] whack and having someone else that helps

[39:35] you bring

[39:37] coherence is really important.

[39:41] And really it's not about me.

[39:44] It's not about my prescriptions. It's

[39:47] not about shatavari. It's not about this

[39:50] tincture. It's about

[39:54] um

[39:55] Agni. It's about one's own fire, one's

[39:58] own chitta,

[40:00] one's own

[40:02] residing of the spirit in the heart and

[40:05] accessing that so that the wisdom

[40:08] permeates each cell and each of the

[40:12] cells in our body, including our mind,

[40:16] turn back towards one's divine

[40:18] blueprint, turn back towards the God

[40:21] within and the God without.

[40:24] >> Mhm.

[40:25] That's so helpful. Thank you.

[40:29] Wow, anything else you want to share

[40:30] just about what's coming up in your

[40:32] business, how people can work with you,

[40:35] what you're excited about.

[40:38] >> I am excited we're having a nervous

[40:41] system reset that we are starting

[40:45] November 2nd and it will be something

[40:48] that we come back to at least on an

[40:50] annual basis

[40:52] and we'll be having a our Madre Sophia

[40:56] signature alchemical fertility program

[40:59] launching in January where we're going

[41:02] to be working on and playing with

[41:06] the physical, mental, emotional, and

[41:09] spiritual bodies

[41:11] to birth oneself anew as well as

[41:16] birth a child if that is what you are

[41:19] really asking to do and connecting with

[41:23] the spirit babies of the future. People

[41:26] can also work with me one-on-one in

[41:29] individualized packages which I love to

[41:31] do through my private practice Prachi

[41:34] Healing.

[41:35] And you know, I welcome speaking more on

[41:39] different podcasts, different platforms

[41:42] because

[41:43] when we're talking Meredith, there is a

[41:45] fire. There's a fire in my heart.

[41:48] There's a fire in my womb. There's a

[41:51] fire in my eyes around

[41:54] the transmissions of connecting with the

[41:58] divine mother and the time of women

[42:01] which is the time of now of shifting

[42:05] into

[42:07] the new age and the new earth.

[42:12] >> Well, let's take a moment to just take

[42:14] that all in and we will include links in

[42:16] the show notes for everyone who wants to

[42:18] dive deeper.

[42:20] So, let's just take a moment to breathe

[42:22] it in.

[42:23] The fire, the power

[42:26] the knowing, the truth that we have come

[42:30] in

[42:31] on earth at this time

[42:34] with

[42:36] yeah, a desire for change.

[42:39] Desire to really support the women that

[42:41] have

[42:43] been unsupported for so many centuries.

[42:47] And to really think about these future

[42:49] generations love

[42:51] that want to offer their love and their

[42:54] support and their

[42:56] wisdom.

[42:58] May we continue to

[43:00] do everything that we can to support

[43:03] them

[43:04] so that we can really see these shifts

[43:07] happen in our own lives, but also in the

[43:09] generations to come. [clears throat]

[43:12] So, I'm going to bring my hands together

[43:14] and bow to you. Thank you so much for

[43:17] being here to share your wisdom with us

[43:19] today. I'm so grateful that we

[43:22] reconnected and I hope that yeah, many

[43:25] people are able to receive the wisdom

[43:27] that you have to share from here.

[43:30] >> Thank you may that

[43:31] >> Yeah.

[43:33] >> I am honored to be with another human

[43:37] being friend and priestess walking a

[43:40] similar path.

[43:42] >> Thank you.

[43:48] >> Thanks so much [music] for taking the

[43:49] time to listen to this episode. If you

[43:52] liked it, share it with a friend or

[43:55] leave us a [music] review and sign up

[44:04] Thanks again for being here. It's an

[44:07] you.

In this conversation, Vinita Prachi Murarka describes healing as something that can begin before conception, with both the mother and the father. She emphasizes tending the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of prospective parents. She does not present this as a medical guarantee, and it is best read as a spiritual and preparatory framework.
Vinita uses the phrase alchemical wound to describe how our own painful experiences can become the compost that makes us better healers. She says these experiences can deepen our presence with others and widen human understanding. The concept treats wounds as material to be worked with rather than avoided.
Vinita says that shame around hidden stories, including sexual trauma, often becomes lodged in the body, in old wounds and in the nervous system. She describes this as a barrier to vitality, joy and full expression. Her womb-healing work begins by addressing that stored experience through meditation, writing and community witnessing.
Yes. In the Rising Women Leaders episode she describes PTSD that surfaced in college as old childhood memories returned, and a brain injury from a car accident around 2016 or 2017. She frames both as part of a lifelong healing journey.
The episode presents health as a relationship between biology, emotions, thoughts and a subtle intelligence that animates them, rather than a state to chase. Vinita describes healing as restoring harmony and reconnecting with inner wisdom. The approach treats each person as a whole.
The episode is titled Healing at the Origin of Life: Fertility & Ayurveda and runs about 44 minutes. It is available on Spotify through the Rising Women Leaders show, and the host's website is meredithrom.com/podcast.
