Guy Yair Beider is a sound meditation facilitator, sound wellness arts educator and Himalayan singing bowls expert. His work draws on research in psychology, musicology and psychoacoustics, and he describes his approach as grounded in both the science and the soul of sound.
His path began in 2007 with the first note he heard from a Himalayan singing bowl. He writes that time seemed to pause and his heart raced. Early on he found the information about these instruments fragmented and often conflicting, and he longed for the subtle, nuanced beauty the bowls promised. So he began his own exploration. He acquired several bowls and started crafting sequences of sound for individuals and groups. He says his instruments and the reactions of his audiences became his most profound teachers, and he studied each bowl's acoustic character alongside musicology, physics, psychoacoustics and psychology.
Guy hand-selects every instrument he plays. Over nearly a decade his search took him through India, Nepal and Tibet, where he tested thousands of singing bowls. His sessions feature museum-quality bowls aged between 100 and 300 years, along with the gong. They include vibroacoustic massage, in which the bowls rest lightly on the body, and a movement between deep, low tones and bright overtones.
Since 2010 he has facilitated hundreds of sound meditations in settings ranging from yoga studios, martial arts schools, schools and businesses to rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, churches, synagogues and medicinal plant ceremonies. He has also worked with groups for people with special needs, veterans, people living with PTSD, and people in recovery, including AA groups.
In 2015 he founded the Bells of Bliss project, which has gained international recognition. In 2020 he introduced a method for educating sound therapy practitioners and meditation teachers, launched through the online Sound Medicine Academy.
