The Amrit Yoga Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) in Salt Springs, Florida. It offers education in yoga, meditation and conscious living, drawing on the traditions of yoga. Its stated mission is to embody and transmit the authentic wisdom and experience of yoga, and it holds a vision of people living in harmony with themselves, each other and the world.
The Institute was founded by Gurudev Shri Amritji, a direct disciple of Swami Kripalu and one of the earliest pioneers to bring yoga to the West. The Institute's pages describe him as having spent more than six decades bringing the inner dimension of yoga into practical, experiential teaching around the world. His teachings are presented as an experiential transmission, not only concepts, and he leads weekly meditation and discourse sessions.
Its work is organized under the I AM (Integrative Amrit Methods) banner: I AM Yoga, I AM Yoga Nidra and I AM Yoga Therapy. Programs include immersions, retreats, teacher trainings and certifications. The Institute says its 500-hour teacher training is accredited by Yoga Alliance and its 800-hour yoga therapy program by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. It reports more than 8,000 certified teachers in over 40 countries. Meditation in Motion, Quantum Breath Meditation, kirtan and chanting are part of the approach, which aims to take students beyond physical postures toward self-discovery and a calmer, more regulated nervous system.
The Institute also provides free community classes, scholarships, a blog, and online options that include an on-demand library and a streaming app. Classes are held on campus and by livestream.
