Clarity Comes From Action: A Soul-Aligned Guide to Goals

You don't have to know where you're going before you start the engine. That is the working premise of a short video from Wendy Perrotti, published on her channel in July 2025 as part of a Manifesting Series aimed at women over 50, and it cuts against the standard advice most of us absorbed about goal setting. Her argument runs like this: if you feel stuck because you're waiting for a clear picture of what's next, the picture you're waiting for is probably the wrong one. Clarity, in her framing, is less a destination you map than a state you live in, one that sharpens through movement. What follows walks through the three pillars she lays out, the reasoning behind them, and the practical sequence she recommends for getting unstuck without a finished plan.

Why Do So Many People Feel Stuck Before They Start?

Perrotti opens with the problem most of her viewers will recognize. "If you're stuck because you think you need to be clear about what's next before you get started, I have news for you," she says. "There's a better way." The video is one of a series she describes as covering ten elements that tend to be present when someone is living in a manifesting or flow state, with each element getting its own video. This piece concentrates on the first of those ideas: what clarity actually is, if it isn't a specific goal.

Her answer is that the goal-first model quietly assumes you already know your own mind. The YouTube description lists the sources she thinks most goals come from: fear, external expectations, or ego. Those motives can produce results, and Perrotti is careful to say so. The trouble is what happens afterward. A person can hit the target they set from those places and still feel empty, which is the pattern she means when she describes people who wonder why they feel "stuck or unfulfilled even when they 'succeed.'"

What Are the Three Pillars of Soul-Aligned Clarity?

Perrotti names three elements and insists they carry equal weight. "There are three key elements here, and each is equally important," she says. Taken together, they replace the single question "What is my goal?" with a set of questions about how you live.

The first pillar is alignment with what she calls your soul self. She describes this as "the part of you that exists without any of the shoulds, the expectations, or those external pressures." To find it, she suggests asking concrete questions: what does alignment feel like for me, what does freedom feel like, what would I be doing if I were fully expressing my true self. She is also explicit that you don't have to choose between this self and the responsibilities you carry. "We get to hold both of these things at once," she says. The point is that when you are free, even hard tasks stop draining the joy out of life.

The second pillar is an openhearted approach. Here her logic is direct: "If fear contracts possibilities, and it does, love expands them." Coming from fear and need, she argues, limits what can reach you. Coming from love makes it possible to both give and receive. She links this to the self-sabotaging patterns many people know well, noting that fear-based goals often sit underneath them, because some part of us already knows we are misaligned and afraid.

The third pillar is service to the greater good, and this is where Perrotti spends the most time clarifying a misreading. She is speaking to a particular audience: "especially for those of you like me who tend to be people pleasers or the helpers in the world." For that reader, service can easily turn into self-erasure. She draws a line. "Service to the greater good doesn't mean being selfless. It means being part of something bigger than yourself." In that space, she says, you are "both giver and receiver." She adds a point that many helpers will find useful: "Service to the greater good doesn't mean being a martyr. It means I get to build this thing and serve in this way and it's good for me too."

Why Do the Pillars Matter, According to Perrotti?

Perrotti ties each pillar to a practical consequence, and the logic is easier to follow when you see them side by side. Alignment, she says, is the authenticity factor. When you're aligned, "doors open, energy flows, we are invigorated and empowered and synchronicities start to happen." When you're not, the experience reverses: tiredness, burnout, resentment, a sense that "everything feels off." She makes a notable claim here: misalignment doesn't just feel bad, it causes you to miss opportunities "that are right under our noses."

Openheartedness is the expansion factor, the reason unexpected openings become visible. Service is the sustainability factor. Her reasoning on that point is subtle. Purely ego-driven goals, she observes, "move us forward," and ambition is fine. But once you have the trophy, "it rarely feels as good as it felt exciting to work toward it." A purpose that includes you, and that serves others in a way that keeps you growing, is what keeps the momentum going past the finish line.

How Do You Find Clarity Without a Goal?

This is the practical center of the video, and it's where Perrotti's approach departs most sharply from conventional planning. Instead of listing objectives, you start with feeling. "Start by tapping into that intuition, that gut feeling, that heartfelt feeling," she says. The questions she offers are sensory and daily rather than strategic: How do I want to experience my life? How do I want to feel every morning when I wake up? How do I want to feel at night when I go to bed?

She suggests tools that slow the mind enough for those answers to surface: spend time in nature, journal, look inward. The instruction is to "just tap in and notice the words that come up." Words, not a plan. Once you have a few, the next step is reflection on what already exists. Ask where in your present life you already feel that way, when in your past you have felt it, and which things about the future excite you because they carry the same quality. Perrotti's instruction at this stage is simple: "Just let yourself reflect on the things that connect."

The method, then, is a pattern of noticing. You name a felt quality, find the places where it already shows up, and let the connections guide you. What you're building is less a map than a compass heading.

What Is the Action-Clarity Cycle, and Why Does It Start Before You're Ready?

The turn in the video comes at the moment many viewers will resist. "We think we need to know the destination before we get in the car and start going," Perrotti says. Her answer is that the car is the thing that produces the map. "When we're creating change and growth in our lives, that clarity comes from action. It comes from experimenting with our reality. It comes from trying new things, testing them out, seeing what connects and what doesn't connect."

This is the action-clarity cycle named in the video's own list of takeaways: action creates more clarity. Practically, it means you do not wait for certainty to make a move. You take a step that feels aligned with the words you noticed, observe what happens, keep what resonates, and let that feedback refine the next step. A lot of stalled people are not missing a plan. They are missing permission to test.

"Clarity is not about goal setting, it is not about the destination. It's about the process. It's about the practice. It is about the way you live and engage in your life."

— Wendy Perrotti, manifesting video, July 2025

That final sentence is the thesis of the piece, and it reframes the whole endeavor. Manifesting, as Perrotti uses the word, is a way of living and engaging, not a single outcome you secure. The clarity she describes is a condition you cultivate through practice and keep returning to.

What Should You Take From This Video?

The strongest contribution of this short talk is its refusal of a false sequence. Most of us were taught to decide, then act, then measure. Perrotti proposes that for people who are stuck, the order is closer to feel, act, and then see clearly. The three pillars give that process moral and emotional guardrails: be honest about what is truly yours, lead from openness rather than scarcity, and make sure your direction includes you as well as the people and purpose you serve.

It's worth noting what the video does not do. It does not provide a worksheet, a timeline, or a set of metrics. It is a framework delivered in conversation, and its power depends on the reader's willingness to test it in daily life. The video is also explicit about its audience and its voice: it is one teacher speaking to women over 50 about their own experience of over-giving and self-doubt, and the advice is offered in that spirit rather than as universal law.

Where to go from here

If the idea of acting before you're clear resonates, start small and keep the loop short. Choose one question from Perrotti's list and sit with it for a few days, whether you walk outdoors or write in a journal. Notice the words that come up. Then pick one low-stakes action connected to those words, try it, and pay attention to what it teaches you. Repeat. The video's own invitation is to comment with one insight and name the area of life where you want more clarity, and to follow the rest of the Manifesting Series, which the description links in five videos, for the other elements Perrotti says accompany this state of flow.

[0:00] So, if you're stuck because you think

[0:02] you need to be clear about what's next

[0:04] before you get started, I have news for

[0:06] you. There's a better way. There are 10

[0:08] elements that tend to be present when we

[0:11] really live in that state of manifesting

[0:14] or in that state of flow, and each of

[0:17] them are covered in one of the videos in

[0:19] this series. So, what is clarity about a

[0:22] future state? If we're not talking about

[0:24] being clear about a specific goal or

[0:27] destination, what exactly is it? Well,

[0:30] there are three key elements here, and

[0:32] each is equally important. The first is

[0:36] being clear about what feels like it's

[0:39] in alignment with what I'll refer to as

[0:42] your soul self. This is the part of you

[0:44] that exists without any of the shoulds,

[0:47] the expectations, or those external

[0:50] pressures. When we feel most free, we

[0:53] are capable of doing those things that

[0:56] need to get done, even the hard things

[0:59] without them sucking the joy out of

[1:02] life. The truth is we get to hold both

[1:05] of these things at once. Being clear

[1:08] with yourself about what is alignment

[1:12] for me feel like? What does freedom for

[1:14] me feel like? What would I be doing if I

[1:18] were fully expressing my true self?

[1:21] That's the piece of clarity that's

[1:23] important here. The second pillar of

[1:26] clarity is an openhearted approach. When

[1:29] we come from a place of fear and need,

[1:31] we're actually limiting what's possible

[1:33] for us. When we choose from love, we're

[1:36] able to both give and receive. And that

[1:39] kind of leads naturally into the third

[1:41] pillar, and that is service to the

[1:44] greater good. When we ensure that our

[1:47] what's next is in service to the greater

[1:49] good, everything opens up. But here's

[1:52] the tricky thing. Especially for those

[1:54] of you like me who tend to be people

[1:57] pleasers or the helpers in the world,

[1:59] service to the greater good doesn't mean

[2:02] being selfless. It means being part of

[2:05] something bigger than yourself. And in

[2:08] those places, you are both giver and

[2:11] receiver. So why do these three pillars

[2:13] matter so much? Well, first alignment

[2:15] with the soul self. That's the

[2:17] authenticity factor. When we're aligned,

[2:20] doors open, energy flows, we are

[2:24] invigorated and empowered and

[2:27] synchronicities

[2:28] start to happen. When we're misaligned,

[2:31] when we're out of alignment with that

[2:33] soul self, we feel tired. We feel burnt

[2:37] out. We feel resentful. We feel

[2:40] disempowered.

[2:42] Everything feels off. And believe it or

[2:44] not, we miss opportunities that are

[2:47] right under our noses when we're in that

[2:50] state. Openheartedness, that's the

[2:52] expansion factor. If fear contracts

[2:55] possibilities, and it does, love expands

[2:59] them. In fact, fear-based goals are the

[3:02] thing that underly most of our

[3:05] self-sabotaging patterns because we know

[3:08] that we're misaligned. Because we know

[3:10] that we're afraid. And when we open our

[3:12] hearts, we open ourselves to unexpected

[3:15] opportunities. Being in service to the

[3:17] greater good is important for both

[3:19] obvious and not so obvious reasons. The

[3:22] obvious reason is our purely egodriven

[3:26] goals. I want this trophy. I want this

[3:29] thing. They move us forward. It's okay

[3:32] to be ambitious. It's okay to want to

[3:35] achieve those things. But once we have

[3:38] them, it rarely feels as good as it felt

[3:43] exciting to work toward it. The part of

[3:46] this that's a little less obvious is

[3:48] that it gets to be for you and about you

[3:52] too. Again, service to the greater good

[3:56] doesn't mean being a martyr. It means I

[3:59] get to build this thing and serve in

[4:02] this way and it's good for me too. So

[4:06] service to a greater good is the

[4:08] sustainability factor. It keeps us

[4:11] moving toward this best life. It keeps

[4:15] us moving to keep growing, to keep

[4:18] evolving. So far, we know that when

[4:22] you're searching for what's next and you

[4:24] don't have a specific goal in mind, just

[4:27] setting one is not the best place to

[4:30] start. In fact, the kind of clarity

[4:33] you're seeking is very different than

[4:34] that. So, how do we reach this kind of

[4:37] clarity? How do we get from not even

[4:39] knowing what we want to this deep,

[4:43] aligned, authentic clarity about a

[4:45] future state? Start by tapping into that

[4:48] intuition, that gut feeling, that

[4:51] heartfelt feeling. How do I want to

[4:54] experience my life? How do I want to

[4:56] feel every morning when I wake up? How

[4:58] do I want to feel every night when I go

[4:59] to bed? Spend some time in nature.

[5:01] Journal. Look inward. Just tap in and

[5:05] notice the words that come up. Once you

[5:07] have a sense of what those are, give

[5:10] yourself some time to reflect. In what

[5:12] places of my life do I feel that way

[5:14] already? In what parts of my past have I

[5:17] felt that way already? What things about

[5:20] the future excite me because they feel

[5:24] that way? Just let yourself reflect on

[5:27] the things that connect. And then my

[5:30] friends, right there, right then, time

[5:33] to take some action. We think we need to

[5:36] know the destination before we get in

[5:38] the car and start going. When we're

[5:40] creating change and growth in our lives,

[5:43] that clarity comes from action. It comes

[5:46] from experimenting with our reality. It

[5:49] comes from trying new things, testing

[5:51] them out, seeing what connects and what

[5:54] doesn't connect. So to be clear, when

[5:56] we're talking about living in a

[5:57] manifesting state, when we're talking

[5:59] about manifesting the life that you

[6:01] want, clarity is not about goal setting,

[6:05] it is not about the destination. It's

[6:08] about the process. It's about the

[6:11] practice. It is about the way you live

[6:15] and engage in your life. So, if you're a

[6:17] woman over 50 and you're eager for

[6:20] what's next for you, make sure you hit

[6:22] that little like and subscribe button

[6:23] and tick that notification bell so that

[6:26] you're made aware the next time we drop

[6:28] a video in our manifesting series. Until

[6:31] next time, my friends, big love.

Wendy Perrotti suggests starting with feeling rather than a goal: ask how you want to experience your life each morning and evening, then journal or spend time in nature and notice the words that come up. Reflect on where you already feel that way, then take a small action and let the results clarify your next step.
In Perrotti's video, it means orienting toward your soul self, the part of you that exists without shoulds, expectations, or external pressure. She contrasts this with goals driven by fear, external expectations, or ego, which she says can leave people feeling stuck or unfulfilled even after they succeed.
Perrotti names alignment with your soul self (the authenticity factor), an openhearted approach that comes from love rather than fear (the expansion factor), and service to the greater good (the sustainability factor). She says each is equally important.
According to Perrotti, no. She argues that clarity comes from action, through experimenting, trying new things, and seeing what connects and what doesn't, so you can start moving before you have a complete picture.
Perrotti says it doesn't mean being selfless or a martyr. It means being part of something bigger than yourself, where you are both giver and receiver, and where the work is good for you too.
Perrotti explains that fear contracts possibilities, while love expands them. She says fear-based goals often underlie self-sabotaging patterns, because people already sense they are misaligned and afraid, which limits the opportunities they can see and receive.
