Description

Winter Reset Retreat is a three-night yoga and cold water retreat at Silverholme Manor, a Georgian manor on the shore of Lake Windermere in the Lake District, Cumbria. Led by yoga teacher Leo Oppenheim, it combines guided cold water dips, sauna, breathwork, gentle walking and restorative yoga. It is designed as a calm start to the year for anyone feeling tired, wired or overwhelmed. It is especially suited to women facing stress, burnout or midlife change, and to anyone curious about cold water therapy who wants to try it with guidance.

What to Expect

The days follow an unhurried rhythm with plenty of room to rest. A typical day begins with rising at 7:00 and yoga at 8:00, followed by a slow breakfast at 9:30. At 11:00 comes a guided session of walking, cold water and breath. Lunch is at 13:00, then free time and sauna from 14:00. Cake and juice are served at 16:00, evening yoga is at 18:00, dinner is at 19:30, and the day winds down from 20:30.

The retreat includes six yoga sessions, mixing a morning Dharma flow with an evening restorative practice. There are two guided cold water dips from the private lake shore, and you can swim in the lake as often as you like between sessions. A two-hour sauna overlooks the water and is set among the trees, offering warmth after the cold. Simple breathwork techniques help settle the nervous system, and a sound journey uses gentle frequencies and vibration to help you release tension. Guided winter walks lead through the surrounding woodland, without pace or pressure.

The Setting

Silverholme Manor is a private lakeside residence surrounded by woodland and open grounds, with direct access to Windermere for wild swimming. It is grand in scale but homely, and many bedrooms have lake views or outlooks across the grounds. All rooms are ensuite. They are offered as twin or king rooms for sharing, or as king rooms for solo guests, with woodland or lake views and a premium option in each. Groups are limited to twelve.

Meals are plant-based and prepared by chef Kelly Mason, who cooks fresh, seasonal dishes to refuel you after time outdoors. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake and dinner are all included, along with unlimited fruit, organic teas, coffee and fruit water. The retreat is alcohol-free.

By car, the house is in Cumbria in the southern Lake District. By train, the nearest station is Oxenholme, which has direct links from London and major UK cities, followed by a short taxi transfer. The nearest airport is Manchester International.

Before You Go

The yoga is open to all levels and adapted to individual ability. Cold water immersions are guided with safety in mind, so the programme suits first-time cold water swimmers as well as those with experience. The retreat is run in English.

The price includes three nights of accommodation, yoga mats, blocks and props, linen, towels and toiletries, all meals, guided walks, the sauna session, the sound journey and the team's host support throughout your stay. A longer four-night midweek stay is also available.
