À propos de cet événement

Description

Trauma Sensitive Yoga for Females is a free, gentle online yoga class held on Zoom for female survivors. It is offered by YogaSong and Victim Services Inc and led by yoga teacher Rachel Allen. The class is open to anyone who feels it is relevant to them, and no experience with yoga is needed.

The class runs for one hour in the evening, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Because it takes place online, you can practice from wherever you feel most comfortable.

What to Expect

This is a trauma sensitive yoga (TSY) class, and the atmosphere is meant to be accepting and warmly welcoming. Choices and options are given throughout the practice, so you can shape each part of it to suit your own body and your own needs on the day.

The focus is on tools and supports that help with nervous system integration, and on taking the practice off the mat and into daily life. The class is gentle in pace and in spirit.

About Rachel Allen

Rachel Allen is a Certified Music Practitioner, Sound Healer, Reiki Master and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher who works from a trauma informed, social justice framework. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology and is based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, serving the greater Pittsburgh region and working with individuals and organizations virtually.

Her work merges music, yoga and community, and is aimed at creating healthy, diverse and joyful communities. Music is at the heart of her offerings. Her own yoga classes are theme-based and bring together yogic philosophy, breathwork, asana, live music and meditation. She also leads community singing and sound healing, using chant, mantra and free movement, drawing on her own compositions, on years of group singing across cultures, and on the Yogic tradition.
