Snatam Kaur featuring Ram Dass - Zürich, Switzerland

Snatam Kaur featuring Ram Dass is a kirtan concert in Zürich, Switzerland, for anyone who wants to hear devotional chanting and contemplative music performed live. Snatam Kaur leads the evening, joined by the musician and producer Ram Dass.

This Zürich concert belongs to a European tour that Snatam Kaur has made with Ram Dass, and the touring ensemble has also included Grecco Buratto and Sukhmani. It suits long-time kirtan listeners, people curious about chant-based music, and those who come to a concert looking for stillness as much as sound.

The Touring Ensemble

Snatam Kaur has toured with this group over several seasons. The ensemble has played Europe in many springs and the USA and Canada in many falls, and the touring has also reached Brazil and Chile. Her live performance at the 61st GRAMMY Awards is part of that history. More recently she has performed with Bruno Justi in the USA and Europe.

Her earlier touring took her through Europe, the USA and Canada, and she has shared the stage with other artists along the way, including Nirinjan Kaur, Tina Malia, Jai-Jagdeesh and Manish Vyas. Concerts like this one draw on that long experience of performing devotional music for live audiences.

About Ram Dass

Ram Dass Khalsa, known professionally as Ram Dass, is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and touring musician. His work moves across contemporary folk, ambient, world, instrumental and contemplative music, and his approach is rooted in collaboration, improvisation and a lifelong engagement with many musical traditions.

He is at the forefront of a movement of musicians exploring the role music can play in bringing healing, solace and connection to people's lives. His own work draws equally on the beauty and difficulty of human experience, including joy, loss, grief and recovery.

Ram Dass is a classically trained clarinetist who grew up in a family of professional musicians. That upbringing gave him an unusually broad musical vocabulary from an early age, and it still informs his work as both an artist and a producer.

The Setting

The concert takes place in Zürich, in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland.
