Description

Reclaiming Your Attention in a Distracted World is a yoga workshop at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville in Buckingham, Virginia, led by counselor and yoga teacher Joni Staaf-Stamford. It is a weekend for anyone who feels pulled in too many directions and wants practical, experiential ways to steady the mind, stay present and feel more connected.

The workshop starts from a classic yogic observation: the mind is naturally restless, drawn outward through the senses. Today that pull is stronger than ever, and staying steady takes practice. Over the weekend, Joni offers a way of training the restless mind to come home.

What to Expect

The weekend is practical and experiential rather than lecture-based. Yoga's understanding of the wandering mind meets the realities of modern life, with a focus on building attention as a skill that can be practiced and strengthened. The workshop is designed for people who want tools they can carry back into ordinary days, not only insight while they are at the ashram.

It runs for a weekend at Yogaville, a residential setting that is itself a break from the usual stream of screens and notifications.

The Setting

Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville is in Buckingham, Virginia, and is the home of Integral Yoga, founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda. The ashram hosts a year-round program of workshops, retreats and trainings in yoga and meditation. Its peaceful surroundings suit a weekend devoted to slowing down and turning attention inward.

Before You Go

The workshop is open to anyone who feels the strain of a distracted world and wants a practical way of working with it. No prior experience is listed as required, and the teaching is aimed at people who are interested in the connection between yoga, mindfulness and everyday mental wellbeing.
