Malte Marten Handpan Concert at Kastel, Istanbul

Malte Marten brings his Healing Frequencies Tour to Kastel in Istanbul for a handpan concert that sits somewhere between a live show and a sound healing session. It is for anyone who already listens to his music to fall asleep, to work or to meditate, and for those curious about the handpan who would like to hear it in a room full of people, with the outside world turned down for a while. Malte plays with his trio, and the evening is held in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, over two nights.

What to Expect

Malte's handpan leads the evening. He is joined by Conrado Molina on percussion and voice, and by Bummela, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together they make a rich, spacious sound that is meant to feel intimate even in a large hall.

The concert runs about two hours and is shaped from beginning to end rather than assembled as a setlist. The music, the silence between pieces and the stories Malte shares all belong to one continuous flow. The intention is simple: no pressure, no rush, nowhere else to be, just music, presence and room to breathe. The organizers describe the aim as leaving with a little more space inside than you arrived with.

Most shows on the tour start at 8 pm, with doors usually opening 75 minutes earlier. Exact times are printed on each ticket.

About Malte Marten

Malte Marten is a handpan musician, composer and teacher. His path began in 2014, when he saw a video of the duo Hang Massive. He sold the equipment he owned as a beatmaker and DJ to buy his first handpan, and he later played on the streets of Berlin.

From 2015 to 2020 he toured with his former duo, Yatao. Teaching became a passion alongside performing, and the two gave workshops and retreats and co-founded the YataoShop, a place for people taking their first steps with the instrument. In 2021 the duo's project ended and Malte began a solo career, funding his first solo studio album through crowdfunding. His videos on Instagram and YouTube have since reached listeners around the world. He says what moves him most is hearing that his music has helped people through personal challenges.

His work rests on one idea: music can create space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself. He has said that nothing replaces the feeling of hearing this music together in one room.

The Musicians Beside Him

Conrado Molina plays percussion and sings. Bummela is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together with Malte they form the trio that carries the Healing Frequencies Tour.

The Venue

The concerts take place at Kastel in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, on two consecutive evenings.

Before You Go

No experience with the handpan or with meditation is needed. The handpan is a steel instrument played with the hands, with a warm, bell-like sound rich in overtones. All venues on the tour are seated. Child tickets are available for ages 12 and up, and wheelchair spaces can be arranged through the organizers.
