Island + Inner Light: A Thailand Retreat for Women

Island + Inner Light is a six-night women's yoga retreat at Vikasa on Koh Samui, Thailand, led by yoga and breathwork teacher Heather Nichole of Roaming Sisterhood. It is a small-group retreat for women, capped at fifteen, who want daily movement, time near the ocean, and some unhurried days on the island with others.

What to Expect

Each day centres on yoga and movement in a private sala above the Gulf of Thailand. Around that practice, the week opens out into island experiences: a visit to an ethical elephant sanctuary, a waterfall hike, snorkeling and a guided temple tour. The week closes with a beach bonfire ceremony.

Brunch and dinner are served daily at the Life Cafe on the property, so mornings can start slowly. After you return home, you stay connected through six weeks inside the Roaming Sisterhood Circle, a space for the group to keep in touch.

About Heather Nichole

Heather Nichole is a yoga teacher, somatic coach, retreat leader and nervous system practitioner based in Temecula, California. She is known for Roaming Sisterhood, her small-group women's retreats in places such as Zion, Costa Rica, Thailand, Yosemite and Ireland, and for teaching breathwork, embodiment and mindful movement to women who want to come back to themselves.

Her work grows out of lived experience. Heather spent a decade as an award-winning destination photographer. Then a 20-year marriage ended and a burnout cracked her open, and she rebuilt her life as a single mother of three. She says that period taught her we don't heal by hustling, we heal by coming home to ourselves. Nervous system regulation, somatic coaching and adventure that puts a person back in the body, not just the head, are what she found worked, and they are what she now shares.

The Setting

Vikasa is on Koh Samui, in Surat Thani, Thailand. The retreat's remaining rooms are Lotus Pads: private rooms of 323 square feet with a king bed and ensuite, set in the tropical gardens between the infinity pool and the Vita Spa, a short walk from the Life Cafe and the pool. Three remain. The Prana Cabana Plus private cabanas, with ocean-view balconies, and the shared twin cabanas in Prana Village, near the secret beach and the White Prana Sala, are sold out.

Island airport transfers are included in both directions.

Before You Go

Included in the retreat are six nights of accommodation, brunch and dinner daily at the Life Cafe, daily yoga and movement in the private sala, the elephant sanctuary visit, the waterfall hike, snorkeling, the temple tour, airport transfers on the island and six weeks in the Roaming Sisterhood Circle.

Flights to Koh Samui are not included, and neither is breakfast, since the meals are brunch and dinner. A deposit can hold a room, with the balance arranged in installments or paid by the final due date.
