Full Body Detox Yoga: Twists,Breath & Digestive Reset

Boho Beautiful

Begin on your back in Iceland's mist, hands resting on your belly, breath rising and falling beneath your palms—this is where Boho Beautiful's 20-minute detox flow grounds itself. Not in the promise of transformation, but in a single breath directed inward. The practice that unfolds is methodical: it moves through gentle twists, targeted poses that stimulate the digestive organs, and sustained breath work designed to release tension in the belly and encourage healthy circulation throughout the body. The sequence is built for anyone feeling bloated, sluggish, or simply needing to reset; it is also, fundamentally, a lesson in how the body's own systems—digestion, circulation, breath—can become the vehicle for lightness and ease when given permission and attention.

Why Twists Matter in Detox Yoga

The practice opens with a strategic emphasis: gentle twists to awaken the spine. This is not casual rotation. Instructor Juliana Spicoluk emphasizes gradual preparation, explaining that "we're going to be doing lots of many different twists through this practice today. So, it's important we gradually prepare the body for it." The reason is anatomical and energetic at once. Twists compress and release the digestive organs—the stomach, small intestine, colon—creating a gentle massaging effect that encourages peristalsis and the body's natural cleansing processes. In lying-down twists early in the practice, a knee pulls into the body and crosses the midline; the spine rotates gently to one side while awareness travels inward. The instruction is specific: "I encourage you to close your eyes here and just really pay attention to your body. Welcoming a deep breath into your digestive system, into your stomach, your colon." This is not movement for movement's sake. Each twist becomes a conversation between breath and organ, an intentional wringing-out of stagnation.

As the practice progresses from floor to standing, twists evolve in intensity. Chair pose—utkatasana—arrives paired with a twist at the belly button. "You want to think about twisting from the belly button here," the instructor notes, "and trying to maintain a square position of your hips." The specificity matters: twisting from the core rather than the shoulders ensures the digestive organs receive the intended stimulus. Later, twisted lunges and revolved triangle poses build on this foundation, layering hip flexor release with digestive stimulation.

The Role of Breath in Supporting Digestion

Throughout the sequence, breath is not an afterthought but the animating force. The practice begins with hands on the belly, establishing a felt connection between breath and digestive fire. As flows intensify—through sun salutations, lunges, and standing sequences—the instructor repeatedly returns to this anchor: "Finding your breath. Welcoming your intention into the body." In yoga philosophy, the digestive fire—agni—is often understood as literal and metaphorical. Physical digestion depends on circulation, muscle engagement, and nerve stimulation, all of which benefit from the increased oxygenation that comes with mindful breath work. But agni also refers to transformational capacity: the ability to metabolize not just food but experience, emotion, and stagnation.

The practice invites both. Gentle forward folds create space for introspection; deeper breathing in downward-facing dog and upward-facing dog increases circulation to the core. When the breath deepens, the parasympathetic nervous system—the body's rest-and-digest mode—activates, allowing digestion to function optimally. This is why the sequence is described as supporting not just weight loss but ease: a body in parasympathetic mode digests better, absorbs nutrients more efficiently, and holds less tension in the belly.

Building Movement: From Lying Down to Standing Flow

The architecture of the practice is deliberate. It begins supine—on the back—with gentle knee-to-chest hugs and lying twists. From there, it transitions to seated, introducing core engagement through rolling like a ball. "Rolling back and then coming up and not allowing the feet to touch the floor if possible, engaging through the core center slightly," the instructor guides. This prepares the abdominal muscles for the more demanding sequences ahead while maintaining the inward focus established in the opening.

The standing portion builds systematically: a forward fold with alternating leg extensions and gentle twists, then chair pose with rotational work, followed by sun salutations that layer vinyasas (flowing sequences of chaturanga, upward-facing dog, and downward-facing dog) with twisted lunges and side planks. Each element serves the detox intention. Forward folds compress the abdomen and stretch the posterior chain; lunges open the hip flexors and allow the organs to settle deeper into the belly; twists in standing poses add rotational stimulus to the work already seeded in the early part of the practice.

Notably absent from the instruction is any demand for perfection or advanced technique. When a modification appears—"knees, chest, chin if you want to modify" instead of chaturanga—it is offered without hierarchy. This reflects a fundamental understanding: detox is not about performance. It is about consistent, intelligent movement applied over time.

The Closing: Integration and Self-Compassion

The final portion of the practice shifts into deeper hip openers and gentle backbends, gradually slowing the pace. A pigeon pose variation offers sustained release in the hip, area where many people store both physical and emotional tension. The instructor guides with tenderness: "Maybe take a gentle rock with that knee" or, if sensation deepens, "bend that extended leg a little deeper." The message embedded here is important: sensation is information, not a target.

The practice concludes in a resting position, with an invitation to send "all my love and light" through the body, to give "every single part of your body lots of love and light." This closing gesture reframes the entire practice: detox is not punishment or deprivation. It is care. It is the body's natural ability to cleanse and reset when given supportive movement, breath, and attention.

Who Benefits—And Why

The practice is described as ideal for weight loss, digestion, flexibility, and "those days when your body simply needs a reset." But its reach is broader. Anyone working with sluggishness, bloating, or the heaviness that comes from stress, poor digestion, or sedentary patterns will find utility here. The 22-minute duration fits modern life; the lack of demanding arm balances or deep inversions makes it accessible to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The Icelandic setting—water, stone, mist—reinforces the sensory invitation to move beyond the noise and reconnect with the body's own quiet intelligence.

Where to go from here

If this sequence resonates, consider practicing it 3–4 times weekly, ideally at times when digestion is not actively processing a meal—early morning or late evening tend to work well. Notice what shifts: not just in the body, but in how you feel after eating, how energy moves through your day, and whether the lightness mentioned in the opening becomes a felt experience rather than a promise. The teachings embedded in this particular flow—the importance of gradual preparation, the specificity of breath, the integration of awareness with movement—apply equally to other practices. Consider too the closing gesture: the offering of love and light to the body is not ceremonial language. It is an instruction to meet your own nervous system with kindness, which is perhaps the deepest form of support for any system asking to heal.

[0:33] [music] Welcome to beautiful Iceland. We

[0:37] are here today next to an amazing

[0:39] waterfall with a 20inut yoga [music]

[0:41] flow designed to support your digestion,

[0:44] detox your system, and help you feel

[0:46] lighter and more energized from the

[0:48] inside [music] out.

[0:54] [music]

[0:55] In this practice today, we will move

[0:57] through gentle twists, mindful [music]

[0:59] breath work, and targeted poses that

[1:02] stimulate the digestive organs, release

[1:04] tension in the belly, and encourage

[1:06] healthy circulation [music] throughout

[1:08] the body. This sequence is perfect if

[1:10] you're feeling bloated, sluggish, or

[1:12] simply wanting to reset and nourish

[1:14] yourself.

[1:16] Today's practice is all about supporting

[1:18] your inner fire, [music] clearing space,

[1:20] awakening flow, and reconnecting you to

[1:23] a sense of internal [music] ease and

[1:24] harmony. So, once you're ready to get

[1:27] started, grab your mat and let's [music]

[1:29] begin.

[1:42] [music]

[1:51] >> [music]

[1:59] >> Thank you so much for joining me here

[2:00] today for this practice.

[2:03] We're going to get started by coming

[2:05] over to a lying down position on your

[2:07] mat. So, when you're ready, go ahead and

[2:09] bring your feet to the front of your

[2:10] mat, scoot [music] forward,

[2:13] and then rest your back all the way

[2:15] down.

[2:17] We're going to begin by simply placing

[2:19] your hands upon your belly.

[2:22] [music] Closing your eyes and just

[2:24] beginning by setting an intention for

[2:26] this practice.

[2:29] [music] Welcoming a deep breath into

[2:31] your body.

[2:33] Feeling your belly rise

[2:35] [music]

[2:36] and bring all of that awareness through

[2:38] your hands into this particular [music]

[2:40] part of your body, your digestive system

[2:42] today. When you're ready, just reach

[2:45] [music] your arms over your head. And

[2:48] then as you exhale, pull your left knee

[2:50] into your body.

[2:52] And then [music] cross the leg in front.

[2:54] So your left ankle top of your right

[2:56] knee. And then from here, arms can

[2:59] [music] extend up to the side. And we're

[3:00] just going to gently move to the right

[3:02] and back up. A little gentle twist.

[3:06] Twist. And then back to center. [music]

[3:08] We're doing it four times

[3:11] to gently awaken the spine. [music]

[3:13] We're going to be doing lots of many

[3:14] different twists through this practice

[3:16] today. So, it's important we gradually

[3:19] prepare the body for it.

[3:21] Awesome. Now, lift that foot off the

[3:23] floor. Pull the other knee into your

[3:26] body. Forehead reaches [music] for the

[3:28] knee. Deep breath in

[3:32] and [music] exhale out.

[3:40] Wonderful.

[3:42] Then from here, plant your foot down.

[3:46] Cross your left leg over your right,

[3:49] [music] arms over, and then allow your

[3:51] both knees to fall to your right as you

[3:53] look over your left shoulder.

[3:59] I [music] encourage you to close your

[4:00] eyes here and just really pay attention

[4:02] to your body. [music]

[4:04] Welcoming a deep breath into your

[4:07] digestive system,

[4:09] into your stomach, your colon. [music]

[4:13] Then come back to center

[4:17] and switch to the [music] other side.

[4:18] Right ankle over top of your left knee.

[4:22] [music]

[4:23] And then start to gently release to the

[4:25] left and center.

[4:28] Left and [music] center.

[4:34] >> [music]

[4:39] >> Good. And one more time.

[4:43] Wonderful. And then from here, bring

[4:45] your [music] arms through. Grab that

[4:47] left knee. Pull it into your body. Give

[4:50] it a big hug as you bring the other foot

[4:52] closer towards your nose or your

[4:54] forehead. Whatever feels nice [music]

[4:56] here.

[4:58] You can find stillness or even gently

[5:00] rock side to side. whatever feels good

[5:02] on the body at this time.

[5:05] Awesome. And then from here, drop your

[5:06] foot, [music] cross your right leg over,

[5:09] allow both knees to fall to your left as

[5:11] you look over your right shoulder,

[5:14] finding your breath as you inhale

[5:19] and exhale.

[5:26] Inhale

[5:29] [music]

[5:30] and exhale.

[5:33] Come back to center. Uncross your legs.

[5:35] [music]

[5:37] Reach your arms over your head. Nice big

[5:39] stretch. And then start to roll all the

[5:42] way up to seated. Grab underneath your

[5:45] knees around the spine. Taking rolling

[5:47] like a ball four times. So rolling back

[5:50] and then coming up and not allowing the

[5:53] feet to touch [music] the floor if

[5:54] possible. engaging through the core

[5:57] center slightly.

[6:00] Good. And then from here, roll all the

[6:01] way forward. Come onto your feet and

[6:04] meet me in your forward fold. [music]

[6:06] Starting with gentle movement by walking

[6:08] out the legs, bending one knee at a

[6:10] time, extending the other leg. [music]

[6:14] Wonderful.

[6:16] And then bending your [music] left knee,

[6:19] right leg straight, reach your right arm

[6:21] up to the sky into a nice little twist.

[6:24] Feeling a nice stretch [music] through

[6:25] the right hamstring at the same time.

[6:27] And then switch to the other side. So

[6:29] bend your right knee, extend your left

[6:31] leg, and reach your left arm up towards

[6:34] the sky.

[6:40] Great. Return back to center. Come back

[6:43] into [music] that forward fold. Bend

[6:45] your knees and then start to roll up

[6:47] gently vertebrae by vertebra. [music]

[6:49] Coming all the way up. Finding nice

[6:52] grounding through your feet.

[6:55] Opening the palms of your hands forward.

[6:58] [music] Taking a deep breath in here.

[7:00] Reach both arms up to the sky as you

[7:03] look up. Bend your [music] elbows. Bring

[7:06] your hands to your third eye as you

[7:08] bring yourself all the way back down to

[7:10] forward fold.

[7:13] [music] Inhale. Come up halfway.

[7:16] Then as you exhale, forward [music]

[7:18] fold. Bend your knees. Bring your arms

[7:20] up and come into your chair. Utkatasana.

[7:24] Palms of [music] your hands together.

[7:25] And let's add a twist. Right elbow to

[7:27] your left knee. Left elbow points

[7:29] [music] up to the sky. As you look up,

[7:31] you want to think about twisting from

[7:33] the belly button here. And trying

[7:35] [music] to maintain a square position of

[7:36] your hips. Come to center. Extend the

[7:39] arms back up. [music] Back to your

[7:42] heart. And twist to the other side. Left

[7:44] elbow to your right knee. Right elbow

[7:47] points up to the sky.

[7:50] Inhale.

[7:53] Exhale. Back [music] to center. Extend

[7:56] your arms and release back into forward

[7:59] fold. Inhale halfway.

[8:02] Exhale [music] two steps back into a

[8:05] high plank position and take your

[8:07] chaturanga dandasana or knees, chest,

[8:10] chin if you want to modify. Drop your

[8:13] belly down to the floor. Come onto a

[8:16] baby cobra position with the palms

[8:18] pressing into the mat.

[8:20] Forehead back down.

[8:23] Open and lift into upward-facing dog.

[8:26] Inhale.

[8:29] Exhale. Push back. Downward-facing

[8:30] [music]

[8:31] dog.

[8:33] Holding here. Finding your breath.

[8:36] Welcoming your intention into the body.

[8:41] [music]

[8:43] Great job. Inhale again.

[8:46] Lift the heels. Bend your knees. Exhale.

[8:48] Hop to the front. Inhale halfway.

[8:52] Exhale. Forward [music] fold. Inhale.

[8:54] Stand up tall. Reach both of your arms

[8:57] up to the sky. And then exhale. Return

[9:00] your hands [music] back to your heart.

[9:02] Inhale. Reach up and open up.

[9:07] Exhale back down to the earth. Forward

[9:09] [music] fold.

[9:11] Inhale. Halfway lift.

[9:14] Exhale. Forward fold. Bend your knees.

[9:17] Arms [music] up. Back into that

[9:19] utkatasana chair. Hands at your heart.

[9:22] Twist towards your left. Right elbow to

[9:24] the outside of your left knee [music] or

[9:26] thigh.

[9:27] Left elbow points up to the sky. Inhale.

[9:30] [music]

[9:33] Exhale. Transition your gaze down. And

[9:35] then step your right leg to the back.

[9:38] Transitioning into your twisted low

[9:40] lunge. You can [music] look up to the

[9:42] sky or keep your gaze down at your front

[9:44] foot. Whatever is easier.

[9:48] Untwist the body. Now lift and extend

[9:50] your arms [music] up to the sky. Just

[9:52] taking a regular low lunge. Seeing if

[9:54] you can allow the hips to drop a little

[9:56] bit further down to the earth. So you

[9:58] [music] feel this nice stretch and

[10:00] extension through your hip flexor.

[10:02] Release the arms into cactus. And then

[10:05] extend the arms all the way down. Tuck

[10:08] [music] your back toes. As you lift the

[10:10] back knee, bring your body forward. Arms

[10:12] in a circular motion back up to the sky.

[10:15] Holding your high lunge. Inhale.

[10:20] Exhale. [music] Drop the hands down.

[10:23] Right hand down. Left arm swings around

[10:25] and up to the sky into twisted high

[10:27] lunge.

[10:29] [music]

[10:31] Inhale.

[10:34] And exhale. Release back down. [music]

[10:37] Step back with that front foot all the

[10:40] way into a [music] high side plank. See

[10:43] if you can maintain your stacked

[10:45] position with your feet. Left arm

[10:48] continues to reach up to the sky. And

[10:51] then transition into plank, chaturanga.

[10:54] Inhale upward-f facing dog. [music]

[10:59] And then exhale downward-facing [music]

[11:01] dog.

[11:04] Find your breath. Inhale.

[11:07] [music] Exhale. Lift the heels. Bend

[11:09] your knees. Hop to the front of your

[11:10] mat. Inhale. [music] Halfway.

[11:13] Exhale. Fold.

[11:16] Inhale. Stand up tall. Reach your arms

[11:19] up to the sky. Exhale. Hands in

[11:22] samastiti [music] in front of your heart

[11:24] center. Inhale. Reach up and open

[11:27] through that heart center.

[11:29] Exhale. Forward fold.

[11:32] Inhale. Halfway lift.

[11:36] Exhale. [music] Let's reach back up into

[11:38] utkatasana chair.

[11:41] Beautiful. Hands together in front of

[11:42] your heart. Let's twist to [music] the

[11:44] other side. Left elbow to the outside of

[11:46] your right knee. Right elbow points up.

[11:49] Inhale.

[11:52] [music]

[11:53] Now, as you exhale, bring your gaze down

[11:55] towards your foot. Step your left leg to

[11:58] the back of your mat. Grounding the knee

[12:00] onto the floor. Staying [music] in this

[12:02] low lunge for a moment.

[12:07] >> [music]

[12:07] >> Wonderful. And then release the back

[12:09] toes. Untwist the body. Reach both arms

[12:12] up to the sky. Allow the hips to come

[12:14] slightly further forward. Feel the

[12:17] extension [music] through the hip

[12:19] flexor.

[12:21] Inhale.

[12:24] Exhale. Cactus the arms. Bend the

[12:26] [music] elbows. Tuck your back toes.

[12:29] Lift the back knee. Bring your chest

[12:31] down. And reach your arms up to the sky.

[12:34] >> [music]

[12:35] >> Holding your high lunge here for a

[12:37] moment.

[12:39] Inhale.

[12:42] Exhale. Bring your body down. Left hand

[12:44] down. Right arm reaches up to the sky.

[12:48] Hold it here. Inhale.

[12:50] [music]

[12:52] Exhale out. Bring your body back down.

[12:57] Step [music] back. Stack your feet. Come

[13:00] into a side plank. Right fingertips

[13:03] reaching up to the sky. [music]

[13:06] Inhale.

[13:09] Exhale. Bring your body forward. Back

[13:11] [music] into plank. Chaturanga

[13:12] dandasana. Inhale. Upward-f facing dog

[13:15] as you open.

[13:18] Exhale. Let's release and take your

[13:20] downward-facing dog. Find your breath.

[13:24] [music] Nice long deep exhale out.

[13:30] Inhale again.

[13:34] Lift [music] the heels. Bend your knees.

[13:36] Hop to the front. Inhale. Halfway.

[13:40] Exhale. [music]

[13:41] Forward fold. Inhale. Stand up tall.

[13:44] Reach your arms [music] up. Exhale.

[13:47] Hands at your heart. Samastiti.

[13:50] Inhale. Reach [music] up and open

[13:53] through that heart center.

[13:55] Exhale. Dive all the way down into your

[13:58] forward fold. Inhale, halfway lift.

[14:02] [music]

[14:02] Exhale, go ahead and extend your right

[14:05] leg all the way back. And then ground

[14:08] the foot and the heel down as you

[14:11] release forehead to [music] your shin.

[14:15] Inhale here

[14:17] and exhale.

[14:19] [music] Extending through the elbows,

[14:23] taking your right hand across, reaching

[14:26] your left arm all the way to the top.

[14:30] Staying in this revolved triangle,

[14:32] keeping your gaze down or you can look

[14:34] up to the sky if that feels [music]

[14:35] better.

[14:37] Once again, maintaining the alignment of

[14:40] your body, feeling the twist from the

[14:42] [music] belly button. Awesome. Untwist

[14:44] the body and just meet me back in a

[14:46] pyramid pose.

[14:50] And then lift the back knee off [music]

[14:52] the floor. Bend both knees. Come into a

[14:55] seated spinal twist. right elbow to your

[14:58] left knee. As your left arm stays next

[15:00] to your body, look over your left

[15:03] shoulder.

[15:05] Deep breath in.

[15:07] [music]

[15:09] And then as you exhale, untwist the

[15:11] body. Bring your weight over to your

[15:12] left foot. Extend your right leg back.

[15:15] And then bring your feet together.

[15:18] Release. [music] Forward fold. Inhale.

[15:21] Stand up tall. Reach your arms up.

[15:24] [music]

[15:25] Exhale. Dive it down. Forward fold.

[15:29] Inhale halfway.

[15:31] As you exhale, shift your weight to your

[15:33] right foot. Extend your left leg behind.

[15:35] [music] And then step it to the midline

[15:38] or slightly even further to the back of

[15:39] your mat. Releasing into your pyramid

[15:42] pose [music] first, pulling your right

[15:43] hip back, pushing your left hip forward,

[15:46] allowing your body to relax over top of

[15:48] your right thigh.

[15:50] Inhale. Now [music] exhale. Left hand

[15:53] across your right foot. Right arm

[15:56] reaches up to the sky. Keeping your gaze

[15:59] down. Inhale.

[16:03] Exhale. Holding this revolved triangle.

[16:07] Maybe looking up to the sky if that

[16:09] feels best. And then untwist. Return

[16:13] back to that pyramid for a breath. And

[16:16] then shift [music] your weight forward.

[16:17] Lift your left leg up. Bend both knees.

[16:20] Come into seated.

[16:22] And twisting your body. Pressing your

[16:24] left elbow to your right knee. Right arm

[16:26] stays down as you look over your

[16:28] shoulder. Wonderful. Inhale. [music]

[16:34] Exhale. Come back to center.

[16:38] Extend [music] it back.

[16:41] And bring your feet together. Releasing

[16:44] into forward fold.

[16:46] Inhale. [music] Stand up tall. Reach

[16:48] your arms up to the sky. Exhale. Hands

[16:51] in samastiti.

[16:53] >> [music]

[16:54] >> Inhale, reach up and open through that

[16:56] heart center. Push the hips forward.

[16:58] Exhale, dive into forward fold. Inhale,

[17:01] halfway.

[17:03] Exhale, two [music] steps back into

[17:05] plank and take your chaturanga.

[17:09] [music] Inhale, upward-facing dog as you

[17:12] reach and lift. Exhale, press into the

[17:15] hands and release. Downward-facing

[17:17] [music] dog. Find your breath.

[17:20] Inhale, lift the heels. Bend your knees.

[17:22] Now hop, cross your feet and land in a

[17:24] seated position at your mat. From here,

[17:27] go ahead and slowly release your back.

[17:29] [music] Bring your feet up and over your

[17:31] head. And taking our plow or halosa,

[17:34] support your lower back with your hands

[17:36] as your feet touch the floor. Maybe

[17:39] interlace and clasp your fingers behind.

[17:41] [music]

[17:43] Inhale.

[17:46] Exhale out.

[17:55] Wonderful. And now slowly [music] start

[17:57] to lower the spine one vertebrae at a

[18:00] time.

[18:01] [music]

[18:03] Beautiful. Left knee to your chest.

[18:07] Right foot drops [music] down. Maybe

[18:10] scoot. Make sure you have all of your

[18:11] mat to use here. Pull that left knee

[18:14] into your body. One more time.

[18:17] Maybe take a gentle rock side to side

[18:20] and then take [music] a full spinal

[18:21] twist by taking your left knee across

[18:24] your body. Left arm [music] extends.

[18:26] Look over your shoulder.

[18:28] Find your breath. If you'd like to go a

[18:31] little deeper, bend that extended leg

[18:33] and grab your ankle, pulling the heel

[18:36] towards your glute, which will also

[18:38] allow you to feel an extension [music]

[18:39] of the stretch through the quadricep as

[18:42] well. Close your eyes and just go

[18:46] within.

[18:48] Noticing the breath, noticing all the

[18:50] sensations [music]

[18:50] that arise within your body.

[18:54] [music]

[18:58] Awesome. Let go of that bottom foot.

[19:01] Come [music] back to center. And let's

[19:03] switch to the other side. So, starting

[19:04] with your right knee now, pull it into

[19:06] your body. Take a moment [music] first.

[19:08] Maybe take a gentle rock with that knee

[19:10] side to side.

[19:12] >> [music]

[19:17] >> And then whenever you're ready to go

[19:19] deep into that spinal twist, bring that

[19:21] knee across, [music] extend your right

[19:24] arm, look over your right shoulder, and

[19:26] if you'd like to add a deeper stretch

[19:28] through the quad, bend [music] that

[19:30] extended leg, and grab your ankle with

[19:34] [music] the other hand.

[19:37] This way, both of your knees are bent.

[19:38] [music]

[19:39] You're allowing yourself to truly deepen

[19:42] the experience of this aa.

[19:46] [music]

[19:47] Inhale

[19:51] and exhale. [music] Let it go.

[19:57] Now, let's return back to center. Bring

[19:59] both knees into your chest. Take a

[20:01] little ball position as you rock side to

[20:03] [music] side, massaging your lumbar

[20:05] spine.

[20:07] Inhale. [music]

[20:10] Exhale out.

[20:16] Great. And then release. [music] Reach

[20:18] your arms above your head. Extend your

[20:20] legs. Inhale.

[20:24] [music]

[20:24] Exhale. Roll over to one side.

[20:28] And come on up to a seated position

[20:31] along the center of your mat.

[20:34] Now, from here, we're going to finish

[20:35] off our practice with doing a couple of

[20:37] mindful breaths. And again, just

[20:39] welcoming that energy into the digestive

[20:42] [music] part of our body. So, reach your

[20:44] arms up. When you're ready, exhale,

[20:47] bring your hands down and place your

[20:49] hands right over top of your belly.

[20:52] With your eyes closed, just

[20:53] intentionally begin to feel your body

[20:56] expand and retract as you welcome a deep

[20:59] breath into the belly. [music]

[21:02] Nice deep belly breaths. Welcoming fresh

[21:04] oxygen and blood flow into this

[21:07] particular area of the body.

[21:10] And through your own hands, sending this

[21:12] part of your body lots of love and

[21:14] compassion and healing.

[21:17] [music] When you're ready to close,

[21:19] let's reach one more time with the arms

[21:20] up to the sky.

[21:23] And exhale, bring your hands over to

[21:25] center. [music] Thank you so much for

[21:28] joining me here today for this practice.

[21:31] I send you all my love and light and I

[21:33] look forward to seeing [music] you

[21:34] again. Thank you. Namaste.

Practicing a detox yoga sequence 3–4 times weekly tends to show the most consistent results for improved digestion and reduced bloating. Regular practice allows the body's circulatory and digestive systems to build momentum; consistency matters more than intensity for supporting the body's natural detoxification processes.
Twists compress and massage the digestive organs—the stomach, small intestine, and colon—stimulating peristalsis and the body's natural cleansing processes. When done mindfully, they encourage the release of stagnation and support healthy circulation throughout the digestive system.
Yes. The combination of targeted twists, forward folds, and deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system—the body's rest-and-digest mode—which allows digestion to function optimally. This reduces tension in the belly and often alleviates bloating and the heaviness associated with sluggishness.
Absolutely. This 20-minute practice is designed to be accessible; modifications like knees-chest-chin instead of chaturanga are offered without hierarchy, and the sequence builds gradually from lying-down work to standing flows, making it appropriate for all experience levels.
Early morning or late evening tend to work best—times when your digestive system is not actively processing a meal. This allows the practice to support digestion without competing with active food metabolism.
Mindful breathing increases oxygenation to the core and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing digestive organs to function more efficiently. Deeper breath also stimulates the vagus nerve, which directly supports the body's natural cleansing and metabolic processes.
