Nine-City India Kirtan Tour: Chanting Divine Names Across India

A nine-second countdown post, published in early November 2025, carried one idea: a chanting tour of India was almost here. Kirtan artist Radhika Das announced nine stops, from Delhi and Jaipur to Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore and Mumbai, for gatherings built around chanting, dancing and sharing mantra. The clip contains no teaching of its own, only the countdown and the tour list, so the useful question is what that announcement points toward.

Lecture · 2 sections

What is kirtan, and why would a tour of divine names matter?

Kirtan is devotional singing in community, most often the chanting of divine names in call and response, with the group carrying the sound together. It belongs to the bhakti tradition, the path of devotion, and the post names that tradition directly in its closing line: "Are you joining us on this journey of Bhakti?" The hashtags follow the same frame, from #KirtanIndia to #MantraMovement.

The caption's central sentence is the clearest statement of purpose: "Nine cities, thousands of hearts, one mission: to spread love through divine names." Read closely, it makes two claims. The first is that the goal is love, not performance. The second is that the method is the names themselves. In this tradition, the name is not a label pointing at something distant. It is treated as a way of entering into relationship with what it names, which is why chanting is repeated, shared and sung aloud rather than simply listened to.

That is also why a tour makes sense as a form. Kirtan depends on participation. The audience is not watching a set so much as becoming part of the sound, and moving that practice through nine cities means moving the communal experience to many rooms, each with its own people joining the same names.

A timing note. The post counted down to dates between November 16 and 29, 2025. Those dates have now passed, so the clip is a record of a tour that already happened, not a listing to attend. The post directed fans to radhikadas.com for tickets and events; anyone looking for current dates should check there rather than relying on this announcement.

Where to go from here

If the idea of chanting divine names is new to you, the clip is a useful doorway rather than a complete picture. Look for fuller kirtan recordings and explore the bhakti tradition's own writings before deciding how you want to engage.
