Map Your IntuitionThrough Body Sensation

The Mindful Movement
The Mindful Movement

À regarder · 6

You've felt it before: a yes that arrived in your body before your mind caught up to it. A person whose name you hadn't even spoken aloud yet felt right. A choice, a direction, an answer that landed somewhere in your chest or belly with the certainty of something already known. That knowing existed before language, before you learned to doubt it, before the voice that plans and manages and stays one step ahead of disaster took over the room. It's still there. The practice Sara Raymond offers in this 10-minute meditation is not about discovering intuition—it's about remembering it, and more importantly, learning to recognize its actual signature in your body so you can return to it whenever you need to hear your own voice again.

Lecture · 6 sections

Why the Body Speaks Louder Than Thought

The architecture of this practice begins with a simple premise: your body has been speaking to you in a language older than words. Before you learned to rationalize, to second-guess, to run through all the ways something could go wrong, your nervous system was already sensing truth. Raymond describes this inner wisdom as "a quiet voice" that doesn't need to be right or first or useful to be heard—it simply knows. The meditation invites you to build what she calls "a map made of sensation," a felt-sense vocabulary you can access anytime.

This is neurology dressed in contemplative language. When you're genuinely aligned with something—whether it's a person, a decision, or a direction—your vagal system settles. Your jaw softens. Your belly drops. There's a physiological signature to integrity. Conversely, when something is off, even if you can't articulate why, your nervous system signals it through tension, a held breath, a tightness across the chest. Most people have learned to ignore these signals in favor of rational analysis. The meditation reverses that habit.

Distinguishing the Quiet Voice From the Vigilant One

Raymond identifies a crucial distinction early in the practice: there are at least two voices operating inside you. One is the quiet inner knowing—intuition proper. The other is what she calls "the voice that manages," the one that has kept you safe by staying alert, by remembering everyone's needs before they're spoken, by holding a step ahead of whatever might go wrong. This is the anxiety-surveillance apparatus, operating from a place of protective vigilance.

The meditation doesn't shame this voice or try to eliminate it. Instead, it acknowledges that "it's been working hard" and invites it to rest—just for now. This is a crucial psychological move. You're not rejecting your protective instincts; you're giving yourself permission to access another channel. By deliberately noticing where this managing voice lives in your body—often as "a tightness across your chest or a bracing low in your belly"—you create the space to move past it.

Building the Sensory Map

The heart of the practice involves a deliberate descent through the layers of your body. Raymond guides attention from the surface (the felt sense of being held by whatever is beneath you) down through the chest, past "the busy hum" of the throat, into the belly, and even deeper into "the weight of your legs against whatever is holding you." At each level, you're noticing: What does it feel like here? Is there softening? Settling? A subtle sense of being met?

This isn't visualization or imagination. You're building sensory literacy—teaching yourself the actual felt-texture of your own wisdom. Raymond emphasizes there's no right response: "It might feel like warmth or stillness." The point is to develop a personal, embodied vocabulary for what genuine yes feels like in your particular nervous system. That's the map. That's what you'll return to.

Self-Trust as Practice, Not Destination

The meditation concludes not with instant certainty or perfect clarity, but with something more durable: the recognition that you are here for yourself and you are listening. Each time you return to the practice, you're sending that signal deeper. Raymond describes this as building self-trust incrementally. You don't have to fully believe in this quiet voice yet. You only have to know it's there.

This matters because intuition without trust is just noise. You can sense something all day long and still override it because you've been trained to defer to external authority, to logic, to what you think you're supposed to do. The real practice is rewiring your relationship to your own knowing—proving to yourself, through repeated small acts of attention, that you can be trusted to listen to yourself.

The Language Before Words

What makes this meditation distinct is its refusal to intellectualize intuition. There's no list of "signs you're following your gut" or "how to distinguish intuition from fear." Instead, Raymond invites you into direct experience: the body itself as teacher, speaking "in a language it has used since before you had words." You meet your own wisdom not as a concept but as a physical presence—steady, patient, waiting for you to remember it's there.

This is what it means to come home to yourself, even for a moment. The knowing has been there the whole time.

Where to go from here

If this practice resonates, consider returning to it regularly—not as a one-time technique but as a way of deepening your relationship with your own voice. Over time, you'll notice that the sensations you map in meditation begin to show up in real time: the warmth or settling that appears when something is genuinely aligned, the subtle bracing when something isn't. You're not trying to become psychic. You're simply learning to read the language your body has always spoken. The more you listen, the more your intuition clarifies.

[0:00] Have you ever known something before you

[0:03] could explain why you knew it?

[0:06] A yes that arrived in your body before

[0:08] your mind had caught up to it.

[0:11] Maybe it was a person, a choice, a

[0:14] direction that felt right before you

[0:16] could say why.

[0:18] That inner knowing is still there, ready

[0:21] to be recognized.

[0:24] This practice is an invitation to build

[0:27] a map to your inner knowing or your

[0:29] intuition.

[0:31] A map made of sensation, something you

[0:34] can carry with you and return to anytime

[0:37] you want [music] to feel that knowing

[0:39] again.

[0:40] Welcome to the mindful movement. I'm

[0:42] Sara Raymond. I invite you to make

[0:45] yourself comfortable.

[0:48] Find a position where your body feels

[0:51] most at ease right now.

[0:58] Allow your eyes to close

[1:01] or let your gaze rest softly on one

[1:05] place in front of you.

[1:11] Take a slow breath in

[1:15] and let it release at its own pace.

[1:23] One more breath just like that.

[1:32] Take your time

[1:34] and allow the wisdom of your breath

[1:39] to flow in and out.

[1:47] Feel the surface beneath you

[1:50] holding you exactly as you are.

[1:57] You don't have to do anything with this

[2:00] moment except be here

[2:03] in it.

[2:09] Let your attention come to rest inside

[2:12] your own body.

[2:19] The body itself

[2:21] breathing

[2:23] resting

[2:26] already speaking to you

[2:28] >> [music]

[2:28] >> in a language it has used since before

[2:32] you had words.

[2:38] Speaking to you through sensation and

[2:41] feeling.

[2:47] This inner wisdom is a quiet voice.

[2:52] Doesn't manage anything.

[2:55] Doesn't need to be right

[2:59] or first

[3:01] or useful to be heard.

[3:03] It simply knows.

[3:10] And this is an invitation to connect

[3:14] with that quiet voice. [music]

[3:17] The inner knowing.

[3:20] And to remember it's there.

[3:37] There may be another voice.

[3:41] One that has been working for a long

[3:44] time.

[3:49] A voice that manages

[3:51] plans

[3:54] remembers everyone's needs before

[3:57] they're spoken.

[4:03] This voice keeps a step ahead of

[4:06] whatever might go wrong.

[4:11] It has kept you safe.

[4:19] Begin to notice the voice that manages.

[4:24] Where do you feel it in your body right

[4:26] now?

[4:37] Maybe it's a tightness across your chest

[4:44] or a bracing low in your belly.

[4:50] The kind that's always ready for the

[4:52] next thing.

[4:58] Whatever you find,

[5:00] there's no need to [music] change it.

[5:08] Just acknowledge it's there.

[5:15] It's been working hard.

[5:22] And let it know in whatever way feels

[5:25] true for you

[5:27] that it can rest

[5:29] for these next few moments.

[5:32] Just for now.

[5:39] Now, let your attention drop a little

[5:41] deeper.

[5:48] Past the busy hum of the chest

[5:51] and the throat.

[5:57] Down into your belly.

[6:04] Or even further into the weight of your

[6:07] legs

[6:08] against whatever is holding you.

[6:16] Somewhere in that lower, steadier place.

[6:21] If it feels right, connect with your

[6:24] deep, inner wisdom.

[6:36] Notice how [music] it feels.

[6:49] Notice if anything shifts.

[6:56] A softening,

[6:59] a settling,

[7:02] a subtle sense of being met.

[7:16] It might feel like warmth

[7:19] or stillness.

[7:24] There's no right response, only yours.

[7:39] Stay here for a few [music] breaths

[7:43] in this lower

[7:45] quieter [music] place.

[8:02] Connect [music] with this steady

[8:04] presence within you.

[8:21] You can [music]

[8:22] let it pass through

[8:25] trusting it will still be there the next

[8:28] [music] time you go looking.

[8:40] You don't have to trust this voice

[8:42] completely [music] yet.

[8:45] You only have to know it's here.

[8:58] It's enough for today to simply connect

[9:02] with your inner wisdom and intuition.

[9:10] You are building self-trust.

[9:16] You are sending the signal to yourself

[9:20] that you are here for yourself

[9:23] and you are listening.

[9:28] And every time you come back to this

[9:31] practice

[9:33] you continue to build this self-trust.

[9:39] And build your connection with your

[9:41] inner wisdom.

[9:45] Begin to bring some gentle movement back

[9:48] into your body.

[9:52] Wiggle your fingers.

[9:55] Roll your shoulders if that feels good.

[10:00] Take your time returning.

[10:06] When you're ready, let your eyes open.

[10:10] Carrying this quieter voice with you

[10:15] into whatever comes next.

[10:20] This is what it feels like to come home

[10:23] to yourself.

[10:26] Even for a moment.

[10:29] Your inner wisdom has been here the

[10:31] whole time.

[10:33] Waiting for you to remember it.

Questions fréquemment posées

The meditation teaches you this distinction through sensation. Intuition (the quiet inner knowing) typically feels steady, warm, or settling in the lower belly—a presence that doesn't need to convince you. Anxiety lives higher up, in the chest and throat, as tightness and vigilance. By building a felt-sense map during practice, you learn your body's actual signature for each state.
Yes. Raymond emphasizes this is remembering, not learning something new—your intuition never left. The practice works by creating safe, repeated moments of simply listening to your body without judgment. Each time you return, you're rebuilding trust in yourself. The voice that manages and protects has kept you safe; you're just opening access to another channel that's been there all along.
The meditation acknowledges there's no single 'right' response—only yours. Some people feel warmth or stillness; others notice subtle shifts in breathing or a lightness. Sometimes the response is simply knowing the quiet presence is there, even without vivid sensation. The goal isn't a dramatic experience; it's building a felt connection to your inner wisdom over time.
The meditation is designed as a 10-minute practice you can return to anytime you need to reconnect with your inner knowing. Regular practice deepens self-trust by repeatedly signaling to yourself that you're listening. Consistency matters more than duration—even weekly practice builds the sensory map and strengthens your intuitive clarity.
No. The practice isn't about abandoning reason; it's about adding another source of information. Your intuition and analytical mind work best together. By learning to access your body's wisdom through meditation, you integrate both channels—your gut knowing and your logical thinking—into more complete decisions.
Unlike the managing voice that plans and stays alert, intuition doesn't need to convince you or prove itself. It simply knows. This quietness is actually a feature: it's not triggered by fear or urgency, so it carries a different quality of certainty. The meditation trains you to recognize and trust that steady, understated presence.
