Tabytha Polaris is a New York-based recording artist, singer-songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, sound healer and storyteller. Her work brings together music, imagination, symbolism, nature and personal transformation. She is known for ethereal vocal harmonies and expressive performances, using her voice as both an instrument and a storyteller.
She describes herself as having been "born singing." She began developing her voice in the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church choir in East Meadow, New York, where she learned complex harmonies and sang soprano, alto and tenor parts, and she was invited to sing with the adult choir while still a child. She began playing flute in fourth grade and studied flute, dance and voice privately from fifth grade. She also studied piano, guitar and tenor saxophone, with voice, flute and guitar the instruments she pursued most.
From seventh through twelfth grade she performed the lead role in every school musical, including Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. She became an All-State vocalist, and one early highlight was singing with Diana Ross at the United Nations in New York City.
Her releases include the guided meditation album 7 Spheres of Light and the mystical pop EP Elemental Codes, both covered in press and radio.
Worth Knowing
Tabytha Polaris is a New York-based singer-songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound healer who works where cinematic alternative pop meets meditation practice. Her voice is the center of the work, used as both instrument and storyteller, with ethereal vocal harmonies layered densely enough that a single track can sound like a small choir. Her background is unusual: she developed her voice in the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church choir in East Meadow, New York, studied flute, piano, guitar, tenor saxophone and dance, and earned a Drama degree at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a Music minor. After stepping back from professional music following the birth of her daughter in 2007, she found Reiki circles and meditation in 2011 and returned to the Long Island music scene in 2015. People follow her because her decades of performing, including studio sessions, commercials and wedding bands, now sit alongside a healing practice that is audible in the recordings rather than kept separate from them. Her stated aim is art that entertains and inspires while inviting listeners to feel, imagine, reflect and connect more deeply with themselves and with nature.
