Masood Ali Khan is a musician and teacher who describes himself as a pioneer of singing sacred mantras with the hang, or hand pan. His performance is meant to inspire a meditative experience, and he explores music as medicine and prayer, with a belief in love for the earth and humanity. He calls this approach "Connection to Creation".
He was born in London to Indian and Muslim parents and has practiced yoga for over 25 years. He studied and practiced acupuncture and homeopathy at the Open International University of Complementary Medicine in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he was also head of the faculty for Universal Energy. He is a Foundation Training student instructor trained by Dr Eric Goodman, and a certified teacher of the Heather Lyle Vocal Yoga Method®, which uses vocal exercises and postures and suits beginners who want to overcome a fear of singing.
Connection to Creation is his integration of music, mantra and meditation to bring Universal Energy into the body in support of wellness and vitality. He shares it in trainings and workshops, alongside related work. Climate Kirtan began with mantras written after Climate Reality trainings with Al Gore. Back Repair is a set of postures for rebuilding lower-back strength. The Rasa Heart Warrior is a men's shadow-work group.
His albums include The Yoga Sessions, The Yoga Sessions: Hang With Angels, Mantra Grooves and a Lakshmi Mantra 108 Jungle Mix. Of the Hang With Angels collection, Shiva Rae wrote on his site that it brings "the sacred sounds of Masood's divine hang with an amazing collection of Kirtan artists to create a stream of transporting melodic beauty."
He has played and taught at Esalen Institute, Omega Institute, Bhakti Fest, Envision Festival in Costa Rica, Lightning in a Bottle, Burning Man, Wanderlust, Telluride Yoga Festival, Udaya Live in Bulgaria, Cappadox in Türkiye, and the Asia Yoga Conference in Hong Kong. He has also offered music at retreats co-led with yoga teacher Sianna Sherman.
