Igor Olivier Ezendam is a Dutch overtone singer, multi-instrumentalist and voice teacher, and the founder of Feeling Sound. For more than three decades he has explored the transformative potential of the human voice through concerts, workshops, retreats and education around the world. He has performed in more than fifteen countries, taught at universities, conservatories and international festivals, and released nine albums and collaborations.
Born in the Netherlands, Igor was drawn to music, improvisation and the emotional power of vibration as a child. Discovering overtone singing, in which a single voice produces two or more distinct notes at once, turned technical curiosity into a lifelong path. He sees it less as a performance skill than as a doorway into listening. His teaching combines relaxation, playfulness, improvisation and deep attention, so that people can find harmonics without force or strain. Many participants arrive believing they cannot sing.
Alongside concerts and recordings, Igor has created listening installations, giant playable sculptures such as the didgeridoo Uroboros, community singing projects and festivals. He has co-directed Etnika, Zenith Summer Camp, Massaggia-Ti and Sound & Silence, and his projects include DomeniCanto, Singing for Water, The Music Farm and Vivo la Voce. He is the author of Your Sound Is Sacred, Ten Practices to Free Your Voice and Voice Unveiled.
Since 2010 he has worked closely with writer and facilitator Arianna Benedetta Artioli, developing international retreats, educational programmes and cultural initiatives that weave together music, personal growth, ecology and community. Whether he is performing for hundreds or singing quietly with one person, his intention is the same: to create spaces where people can rediscover the intelligence of their own voice.
Worth Knowing
Igor Olivier Ezendam is a Dutch overtone singer, multi-instrumentalist and voice teacher who founded Feeling Sound and has worked with the human voice for more than thirty years. Overtone singing, in which one voice produces two or more distinct notes at once, is the center of the practice, and he treats it less as a performance skill than as a way into listening. His concerts, workshops and retreats have taken him to more than fifteen countries, and he has taught at universities, conservatories and international festivals. Listeners who follow him tend to value the consistency across scales, since the same attention he brings to a hall of hundreds carries into a session with one person. Beyond concerts and recordings, he has made listening installations, a giant playable didgeridoo sculpture called Uroboros, community singing projects and festivals. The profile lists nine albums and collaborations, and the throughline across all of it is education: the work is built to change how a person hears and uses their own voice.
