Dr Laura Patryas is a spiritual teacher, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist and nonduality scholar based in England. Her background is varied, spanning roles from research scientist to spiritual teacher. She holds a PhD in Psychophysics and has worked as a clinical teacher and researcher at the University of Manchester. She is also a musician, author and artist, dedicated to holding spaces of deep transformation.
Her teachings emphasise the transformative power of Being and presence. They draw on Sufism, Christian mysticism, Celtic and Shamanic spirituality, Taoism, Zen, Advaita Vedanta, Tantra, and Eastern and Western nonduality. She describes the creator of Nondual IFS and co-founder of the Nondual IFS community as herself, and her approach as a path of awakening and living from the essence of love. She frequently speaks at international conferences on psychology, psychophysics and IFS, and enjoys discussing awakening, Advaita Vedanta, Eastern Tantra, embodied movement and A Course In Miracles in interviews.
Over the years she has facilitated women's circles, mantra and sound healing sessions, IFS workshops, ecstatic dances and interfaith services. As an interfaith practitioner, she co-leads services centred on unconditional love at Gorton Monastery.
Her writing includes a children's book on IFS and an adult book, Awaken to Love: Reclaiming Wholeness through Embodied Nonduality with Jungian Wisdom, Psychosynthesis & Internal Family Systems. The book is grounded in over two decades of research and was inspired by figures such as Hildegard von Bingen and Julian of Norwich. It brings modern psychotherapeutic modalities together with Vedantic and Tantric traditions.
Alongside her teaching, Laura works as a qualified person-centred counsellor (MBACP) and offers psycho-spiritual counselling, supervision for practitioners who integrate nondual teachings, and nonduality and meditation mentoring. She also contributes to the scientific community as a peer reviewer and grant evaluator, and shares regular musings on Substack.
