Dimitris Loizos is a London-based blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer, originally from Athens, who also guides meditation sessions on Insight Timer. Those two sides share a temperament: unhurried, emotionally direct, and built around paying attention.
Start with the Soul Searching EP (June 2022). It is the earliest multi-track body of work and the clearest statement of Dimitris Loizos's early approach. It covers the emotional range the catalogue is known for, from heartbreak songs to more reflective material, and it shows how much room is left for the guitar. Listen on headphones with the lyrics in view. The songs depend as much on the phrasing of the vocal as on the solos.
Long Time Ago (single, December 2024) sits comfortably beside the EP's more intimate writing.
Back to the Blues (six tracks, June 2024) shows the blues roots most plainly. If the EP reads as songwriter first, this is where the tradition behind it, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Peter Green, comes through.
Selflessness (single, October 2026) is the most recent release and shows how the writing has developed. Play it after the earlier material and the change is easier to hear.
If you want the guitar on its own terms, The Kind of Solo You Play With Your Eyes Closed (2026) gives it the storytelling role.
A songwriter first and a performer second. The core is electric guitar and voice, with spare arrangements rather than layered ones. The guitar is emotive and sustained, with echoes of Stevie Ray Vaughan's attack and David Gilmour's patience with long notes. The vocal is warm, soulful and conversational. Pacing runs slow to mid-tempo, and the production rarely reaches for big crescendos. Lyrics deal with love and heartbreak, longing and regret, joy and sorrow. In concert, Dimitris Loizos often explains the experiences and relationships behind the songs, which makes large rooms feel intimate.
Expecting a flashy blues show. This is restraint, not virtuosity. Solos are patient, and a phrase is allowed to breathe.
Treating it as background music. It does little for workout playlists or party sets. It rewards attention.
Assuming the records are meditation music. Slow pieces like Slow Blues in Cm suit quiet listening, but they were written as blues songs. Expect emotionally honest material, not ambient drones or chanting.
Assuming a specific spiritual tradition. The meditation work is grounded in music and general mindfulness, and no formal lineage or school is named. It is also open to beginners.
Skipping the lyrics. They are central, not decorative.
When you are in a reflective stretch: after a breakup, in a period of regret or longing, at the end of a long day, or when you are trying to slow down and notice what you feel rather than escape it. The work treats feeling as something to sit with. It also lands for guitar players who want to hear space and tone prioritised over speed, and for anyone building a first mindfulness habit who would rather come in through music than instruction.
