Retraite spirituelle
Description
Some practices do not ask you to become someone new. They ask you to grow quiet enough to hear what is already there. Inner Reset: Coming Back to Oneself is a spiritual retreat in London built around that idea, with three days of sacred sound, mantra and meditation guided by Manish Vyas, the singer, composer and student of mantra science.
The retreat is rooted in Naad Yoga, the Indian path of sound as a means of settling the mind and reconnecting with a quieter dimension of being. It runs as a long weekend at the Sindhi Community House, from Friday mid-morning until Sunday. Live music, Sanskrit chanting, breathwork and teachings from classical yogic philosophy come together in an unhurried space for self-inquiry.
No prior experience is needed. Newcomers are as welcome as seasoned meditators, whatever their background or beliefs. If something in you feels drawn to this, the organisers suggest honouring that quiet pull.
What to Expect
The weekend moves between active and passive meditative techniques, so the practice is varied and approachable. Each day weaves together:
- Guided meditation and unique meditation techniques
- Sanskrit shlokas, stotras, mantras and kirtans, sung with live music
- Pranayama, the yogic work with breath
- Inspirational talks and stories drawn from Indian wisdom literature, conveying the messages of masters devoted to inner discovery of the true Self
The atmosphere is gentle and effortless. Sound and breath serve as tools for letting go of mental noise, so that participants can simply be. Past participants have described feeling relieved of stress, deeply relaxed and open. Manish teaches in English.
About Manish Vyas
Manish Vyas is a musician who plays tabla, santoor, harmonium, swarmandal and keyboard. He composes, sings and performs across the range of classical and folk instrumentation, which gives his work an unusual coherence. His catalogue includes more than twenty original albums, along with contributions as composer, vocalist and instrumentalist to many other artists' recordings. His music spans bhajan, Sufi, folk, mystical and instrumental genres, with devotional music at the centre.
He approaches this work as a lineage student. He studied with his teacher for twenty years before being told he was ready to conduct retreats, and he describes his role as that of a humble postman, sharing what was passed to him. Participants have said that his music and his being feel like one.
