Medicine Songs: How Your Voice Can Heal and Reveal

The Shift Network

What if the voice you have spent years judging, softening, or hiding is itself a form of medicine? That is the premise of a 2026 Shift Network livestream led by voice pioneer Chloë Goodchild, founder of the Naked Voice, who spent the session guiding participants through what she calls medicine songs: spoken, sung, and silent sound used as a route to release what the body is holding, to hear oneself more clearly, and to speak what is true. Rather than a performance lesson, the hour was built around presence. Goodchild's central argument is that the voice is not a tool for impressing anyone. It is a living instrument of self-discovery, and the healing happens as much in the listening afterward as in the sound itself.

Where does a voice like this begin?

Goodchild did not start with technique. She started with a childhood that taught her to be quiet. In the livestream she described a childhood that included deafness, which she has spoken about before, and a few early years of being silenced. She also described a shy child who asked a great many questions and who was, depending on the adult making the judgment, called overly diplomatic, pompous, or arrogant. Those contradictory labels are a telling detail. They show how a voice can be shaped by the room it grows up in, and how a child can absorb the message that its own speech is either too much or not enough.

She tied that early experience to a longer search that took her through the Middle East, India, Africa, and British Columbia, and into conversations with indigenous and ancient sacred musical cultures. Her own explanation of why that search mattered is direct:

"What purpose is this voice if not to speak its truth? It's sovereign truth."

Chloë Goodchild, Shift Network livestream, about 17 minutes in

That question became the organizing principle of her work. The Naked Voice, which she said began in 1990, grew out of what she calls experiential research: asking people directly how they felt about their own sound, then leaving a great deal of space for the answers. The method matters for anyone trying to work with their voice on their own. It treats the person's experience as the primary data, not a teacher's standard of what a voice should sound like.

Why does the word medicine belong to the voice?

Stephen Dyn, founder and president of The Shift Network, opened the session by noting how Goodchild's music once moved him deeply during his own early years of inner work, when he facilitated holotropic breathwork and used her recordings for integration periods. That context explains why the medicine framing lands. For Goodchild, the word arrived later in her journey, but it fit a longing she had carried for decades.

She looked the word up. Tracing medicine back through Latin, she arrived at roots connected to the healing art and to the physician, and ultimately to a root meaning to heal. Her reading of that history is less about etymology as trivia and more about permission. If medicine has always meant the healing art, then a practice in which a person sings, hums, or speaks is not a side activity to health. It can be the healing itself.

"You're living your life as a healing art."

Chloë Goodchild, Shift Network livestream, about 22 minutes in

Goodchild was careful to say that she does not reject outside medicine. Some situations clearly call for prescriptions and treatment from outside. But she made a point of noting that most of the time, the healing she cares about is the work of living one's life fully and truthfully. In that frame, the voice is the central catalyst. It is how a person discovers, expresses, and returns to who they are.

What exactly is a medicine song?

The core definition she offered is compact enough to remember: a medicine song is a healing prescription from the soul. It is not a composed piece with a set melody or a lyric to learn. It is sound that arises from listening inward, shaped by breath, tone, vibration, and the willingness to let the sound be imperfect. The emphasis, repeated across the hour, is on relating to your own sound as presence instead of performance.

This is the shift the livestream asked participants to make. Most people who have been told their voice is wrong, too thin, too loud, too flat, or too timid carry a mental editor that runs during every attempt to sing or speak. Goodchild's teaching invites that editor to step back. Instead of asking "does this sound good?", the question becomes closer to "what is happening in me as this sound moves?" That change is subtle in words and large in practice, because it moves the authority from an imagined audience back to the person making the sound.

The description promised a path beyond overthinking and old judgments about how one "should" sound, aimed at deepening self-trust and making it easier to access inner guidance. The practice was framed less as a skill to master and more as a relationship to renew.

How does the three-part healing practice work?

The livestream centered on what Goodchild calls her three-part somatic vocal healing practice, "Feel the Healing Medicine in Your Voice." The structure moves through three distinct phases, and the sequence is the point:

  • Inner listening. Before any sound is made, the participant turns attention inward and notices what is present in the body and breath.
  • Natural vocal expression. From that quiet, the voice is allowed to move without being corrected or shaped toward a target sound.
  • Listening to the silence afterward. When the sound stops, attention stays with the quality of the silence it leaves behind, noticing shifts in body, emotion, and awareness.

The third step is where many people will feel the practice most. Silence is usually treated as empty space between sounds. Goodchild treats it as information. What remains after a sound has moved through the body can show what was released, what settled, or what had been tight without the person knowing. That is why the practice is called somatic: it is organized around direct bodily experience rather than explanation.

In the livestream, the teaching moved between guided invitations and moments of sound. At one point, after a participant's sound had opened into a richer tone, Goodchild remarked on the combination at work:

"It's the alchemy of the two."

Chloë Goodchild, Shift Network livestream, about 41 minutes in

The "two" she named were the components of the practice that work together: attention turned inward and sound allowed to move. Neither alone carries the full effect. Without the inner listening, the sound becomes performance. Without the sound, the listening stays in the head.

Does it matter whether you can sing?

No singing experience is needed, and that is one of the most important points in the material. The invitation is simply to bring your voice, your curiosity, and a willingness to listen to yourself differently. For people who have been told they cannot sing, this is the most useful reframe. The practice does not measure pitch or tone against a standard. It measures what changes in you.

That said, the work is not automatically gentle. Goodchild's own history, with its childhood silencing and early shyness, shows why voice can carry emotional weight. Sound can bring up memories, grief, or the old voices of judgment. The three-part structure, with its pauses and silent listening, gives those responses room to be noticed rather than pushed through.

What comes next in the work?

Near the end of the hour, the host turned to a new course built on the same ground: Medicine Songs for Your Soul Expression. The course extends the livestream's framework into a longer container for people who want to keep exploring their voice beyond a single session. Goodchild's core instruction, carried into any setting, remains the same. Listen first, let the sound come, then listen again to what it leaves behind.

Where to go from here

If the idea of medicine in your voice is new to you, the most useful next step is small and private. Sit quietly for a few minutes and notice your breath and body. Allow a single sound, spoken or hummed, without trying to make it good. Then stop and listen to the silence that follows, paying attention to body, emotion, and awareness. Repeat that sequence over several days and notice what changes. For a fuller guided experience, look for Goodchild's Shift Network livestream and the Medicine Songs course, both of which are built around the three-part practice she describes. The voice you have been judging may be the one that knows what you need.

[15:12] >> Well, greetings everyone and welcome to

[15:14] a truly special online event today. It's

[15:16] called activate the medicine within your

[15:18] voice. How your voice can transform

[15:20] emotional blocks and reconnect you with

[15:22] the music of your soul. My name is

[15:25] Stephen Dyn. I'm the founder and

[15:26] president of the Shift Network. And

[15:27] today is a special blessing for me

[15:29] because way back early in my journey of

[15:32] awakening and transformation, Khloe

[15:34] Goodchild's music really touched my soul

[15:36] in a profound way. I used to facilitate

[15:38] holotropic breath work. We would often

[15:40] use some of her her music for the

[15:43] integration period because it was so

[15:45] such a beautiful blend of heart and soul

[15:47] and it's been a blessing to have her

[15:50] teach for the shift network over many

[15:52] recent years now. So, she's going to be

[15:54] with us today uh to help explore how you

[15:57] can really activate medicine in your

[15:59] voice, healing power in your voice. And

[16:02] a bit more about Khloe, she's an

[16:04] international voice pioneer. She's an

[16:05] author, singer, and founder of the naked

[16:07] voice. She's taught many programs for

[16:09] shift. And she's really, I think, an

[16:12] example of all for all of us of how to

[16:14] truly surrender to the s spiritual power

[16:17] that can move through your voice in a

[16:18] way that blesses yourself and others.

[16:20] And if you're touched by today, we have

[16:22] a brand new course with Khloe. We're

[16:24] very excited about it's called Medicine

[16:25] Songs for Your Soul Expression that

[16:27] we'll share more about towards the end

[16:28] of the hour. With that said, Khloe,

[16:30] welcome back.

[16:32] >> Hello, Stephen. It's wonderful to be

[16:34] back. It's really great to be in this

[16:35] conversation with you. I'm very excited

[16:37] about it.

[16:38] >> Yes. Well, it's always an adventure with

[16:40] you because we you're so open to

[16:42] whatever is how the spirit moves. And so

[16:44] I want to start before we go into some

[16:46] of the content and the medicine

[16:48] teachings a little bit about how your

[16:50] journey with voice particularly voice

[16:52] not just performing but voice is

[16:54] medicine.

[16:57] >> Well Stephen uh the use of the word

[17:00] medicine's come in more recently. Um and

[17:04] I would say what really brought me into

[17:06] this journey is longing. just longing,

[17:11] you know, I I've shared with you in the

[17:13] past my story of deafness in childhood

[17:16] and then, you know, the whole journey of

[17:18] learning to listen, learning how to find

[17:22] my way back into a very social

[17:25] environment, having been kind of

[17:27] silenced for a few years in my early

[17:28] years. Um but it was really thanks to

[17:31] that I think that I started to realize

[17:34] the medicine of listening and the

[17:37] medicine of uh communication as a sacred

[17:42] act. Uh and it was really music was the

[17:46] bridge for that journey. Uh so the

[17:49] longing went on and on and on and on.

[17:53] There was a lot of it because I was

[17:54] brought up in a very um religious

[17:58] institutional very um institutionalized

[18:00] Christian environment [snorts]

[18:02] and my lovely dad who I loved with a

[18:04] great love and my mom too never you know

[18:07] they were involved if you like in a

[18:10] version of Christianity that I found

[18:12] myself having to challenge which was

[18:14] great and involved having to really uh

[18:19] listen into communication. it itself

[18:23] because uh I remember that I remember

[18:25] being described as as kind of um

[18:29] overly diplomatic. Uh what was the other

[18:32] one I got at school was kind of pompous,

[18:34] you know, um arrogant, you know, um

[18:38] because I was just constantly asking

[18:41] questions and I was a kind bit of a

[18:43] loudmouth, you could say, uh at that

[18:46] time, but actually really painfully shy.

[18:50] In fact, uh and so this kind of

[18:53] collision between

[18:55] having to navigate as so many of us have

[18:58] had to learn to do uh you know the the

[19:02] kind of um

[19:04] the the conditioning of our childhood

[19:07] into adolescence and into uh early

[19:10] childhood really prompted uh my own

[19:14] voice forward. It really prompted my own

[19:17] voice to come forward and just say hey

[19:20] uh who am I you know and what purpose is

[19:26] this voice if not to speak its truth

[19:30] it's sovereign truth

[19:33] >> slowly but surely that became the

[19:35] absolute central driving focus of my

[19:39] life and that took me on

[19:43] many travels all over the world mainly

[19:45] the Middle East and India, Africa. Spent

[19:49] several months in all these places

[19:51] learning from indigenous cultures and

[19:54] also ancient sacred musical cultures as

[19:57] well. And of course up in the um in

[20:01] Canada as well in British Columbia uh in

[20:03] the lovely Holly Hawk. I used to teach

[20:05] up there a lot. Um, and finally finding

[20:10] myself meeting the First Nation uh,

[20:13] beings, these beautiful souls called

[20:15] Darnell and Smokeoky who were part of

[20:18] the Pagani uh, First Nation up in

[20:22] Montana. So I feel incredibly blessed

[20:25] that somehow or other my body has done

[20:26] all this traveling and absorbing

[20:28] absorbing absorbing um and then finally

[20:32] realizing that I'm in this conversation

[20:34] with plasmic scientists you know and

[20:38] philosophers and intellectual you know

[20:41] people that really are turning over the

[20:43] stones of truth. what is truth and what

[20:47] is true medicine you know and I think

[20:51] over the last particularly over the last

[20:53] couple of decades uh I've been taught

[20:55] time and time again by the individuals

[20:57] I'm working with when we started the

[20:59] naked voice in 1990 I can't believe we

[21:03] did and um it was really this

[21:06] experiential research that I embarked

[21:08] upon with human beings simply asking

[21:11] them

[21:13] how do you feel about your choice, you

[21:16] know, uh, and then just letting a lot of

[21:20] space available for the responses which

[21:23] were quite magnanimous.

[21:26] >> Quite a journey you've been on. And I

[21:29] want to circle back to this this notion

[21:31] of medicine. And so there's obviously a

[21:33] lot of levels of medicine. We can think

[21:35] of it in a more physicalist kind of

[21:37] materialist framework, but I I think

[21:39] you're meaning are multiple levels of

[21:41] medicine. So how is it that voice when

[21:44] infused with truth and with with a

[21:46] deeper depth really depth really really

[21:48] comes it helps us bring into a deeper

[21:51] alignment with who we are as you're

[21:53] saying

[21:54] >> right well thank you Stephen because

[21:57] obviously in this day and age there are

[21:59] there's such a multiplicity of um

[22:03] descriptions I actually looked up the

[22:05] meaning of medicine uh which from the

[22:07] Latin it comes from the Latin meaning

[22:10] medicineina

[22:11] And medina means the healing art. I love

[22:17] that. Did you?

[22:18] >> Uh, and that's related to medicus or

[22:21] medicica presumably the physician,

[22:25] right? And then that is related to the

[22:29] it's linked to the word medi which means

[22:32] to heal. Right? So medicine song. All

[22:37] right. a medicine song is a healing

[22:40] prescription from the soul. Um that's

[22:45] you know and I've been feeling into this

[22:47] a lot. Uh and realizing that you know

[22:51] clearly there are times when uh you know

[22:54] to have uh prescriptions or medication

[22:57] from the outside in is totally relevant.

[23:00] And then there are other times, most of

[23:01] the time in my case, because I think

[23:03] rather like you were saying, you never

[23:05] go to the doctor because it could well

[23:07] be that we're just living the lives we

[23:08] came here to live. So the likelihood is

[23:11] I I think if you are doing that, you're

[23:14] likely to stay pretty healthy. Uh and

[23:18] why is that is because you're in the

[23:20] healing art of your life. You know,

[23:23] you're you're living your life as a

[23:25] healing art. And so the voice of course

[23:28] is the [sighs]

[23:30] central um core uh communicating

[23:35] uh catalyst for uh this discovery, this

[23:39] self-discovery. And that means and of

[23:42] course we're very blessed with the brain

[23:45] that is the gut and the brain that is

[23:47] the the the head, the skull brain. And

[23:50] then we have the heart of course in the

[23:51] middle. And

[23:54] uh you know the it would seem as if

[23:58] the these two brains are in service to

[24:01] this middle brain middle massive heart

[24:04] brain. Uh and once we start to

[24:07] understand that the the the triadic

[24:09] nature of the body and how it works you

[24:13] know physically psychophysically and

[24:16] then spiritually from the center of the

[24:19] forehead which is really the key

[24:22] medicinal point in our work uh which is

[24:25] the pineal and that happened quite some

[24:30] time ago in my own discovery in a dream

[24:33] actually it came in a dream uh that I

[24:36] was to in no uncertain terms follow the

[24:40] path of the pineal gland and uh and so

[24:44] that has a whole story attached to it.

[24:46] But so to heal uh from the outside in as

[24:51] well as from the inside out, we just

[24:54] need to learn how to balance these

[24:56] realms, I think, don't we? Uh and it

[24:58] seems like it's my job to work on the

[25:00] the inside out piece. Uh and so being an

[25:03] artist, being a musician and a recording

[25:05] artist as well, um it's it's a great joy

[25:09] to me to realize that I can start or

[25:12] even that I have been creating music

[25:15] that was medicinal for people. I was

[25:18] very touched that you mentioned that at

[25:19] the beginning. Um and all of that kicked

[25:23] off recording and everything. Uh kicked

[25:26] off when I came back from India. It

[25:28] never occurred to me to sing on my own.

[25:31] uh you know I was so shy and such an

[25:34] empath absolutely chronic empath

[25:36] [laughter]

[25:37] and and so I mean that's a little bit of

[25:40] a contradiction in terms but [laughter]

[25:42] but you know um I just got the message

[25:45] you've got to walk into a recording

[25:47] studio and just start singing and just

[25:50] see what happens uh and at that time I

[25:53] was very blessed to be meeting uh and

[25:56] helping to bring people such as Coleman

[25:59] Bark's roomie poet and so many other

[26:02] extraordinary beings from America. We

[26:05] managed to slowly stop them flying from

[26:07] America to Germany and landed England.

[26:11] So we were blessed to receive Randas and

[26:14] Gabrielle Roth and James Hillman and

[26:16] Marian Woodman and you know all and Arie

[26:19] Mandel you all these extraordinary

[26:21] teachers. Uh and then of course meeting

[26:24] John Stewart Reed in 200 in 2001

[26:29] 2001

[26:31] um when I'd been researching this just

[26:35] listening listening listening to people

[26:36] for about 10 years and I suddenly got an

[26:38] invitation from John um to go and find

[26:42] him with a group of other eccentric

[26:44] singers

[26:46] in a chapel, one of the oldest chapels

[26:49] in England I believe um on the in the

[26:53] south of England uh to sing in such a

[26:56] way as he could then just explore with

[26:59] his technology what that looked like and

[27:01] I'm going what do you mean what does

[27:02] that look like you know so there there

[27:06] began the huge conversation between our

[27:08] respective journeys

[27:11] so singing is a visual um healing art

[27:16] it's a performative healing art of

[27:18] course um and I suppose I've just worked

[27:21] with too many um performers who are some

[27:26] of the most unhappiest people on the

[27:28] planet that I've ever met uh until they

[27:32] found that they could sing directly from

[27:34] the soul rather than singing as

[27:38] externally required

[27:40] >> in a performative way, you know, uh to

[27:43] entertain, not to necessarily transform

[27:47] or transmit, but to entertain, which is

[27:50] great. you know, there's nothing wrong

[27:51] with that. But um so long story short,

[27:55] all these realms, the simatic, you know,

[27:58] and this awareness of an ever expanding

[28:02] resonant field of coherence that's

[28:04] spoken about through all of modern day

[28:07] physics

[28:08] is something that I've experienced for a

[28:11] very long time. And I suppose I really

[28:14] got it when I got this really eccentric

[28:16] invitation to from Eve Enler of the

[28:19] Vagina Monologues to go and um sing and

[28:23] conduct the vagina monologues as a

[28:25] musical performance in Madison Square

[28:28] Gardens. And that was insane. You know,

[28:31] I remember walking into Madison Square

[28:33] Gardens and my daughter going, "Mom, how

[28:36] did you get this job?" you know, we're

[28:39] looking at this massive arena. And it

[28:42] was there that I really began to hear

[28:46] what 20,000 voices

[28:49] uh can manifest consciously,

[28:52] not as performance, not as

[28:54] entertainment, but in that case as a way

[28:57] of really uh bringing consciousness and

[29:00] awareness to

[29:02] uh supporting uh bringing grace and

[29:06] peace to the lives of women across the

[29:09] world. So it was all about that. So it

[29:12] had its own purpose. Yeah,

[29:16] >> it's amazing your journey. And uh let's

[29:18] let's I want to go a little deeper now

[29:20] into the actual practice of how do you

[29:22] sort of move from a sort of habituated

[29:25] maybe performance or other oriented

[29:27] voice to this really receiving this

[29:29] healing prescription from your soul like

[29:31] more that like getting into some of the

[29:32] first steps of how how do we shift gears

[29:35] tune in what is it that you're doing

[29:37] with breath with tone vibration to to

[29:40] shift into where you're really getting

[29:41] this medicine that can activate

[29:43] different parts of our being.

[29:45] >> Right. Right. Thank you, Stephen. I

[29:48] mean, the whole

[29:52] process of learning how to listen, to

[29:56] listen without judging

[29:59] is massive, isn't it? Because we live in

[30:02] such a polarized dualistic uh universe

[30:06] that is thankfully now changing. Um but

[30:09] how to listen not just with the left

[30:12] brain, not just with the right brain but

[30:15] with the whole brain and to listen from

[30:18] the center of the forehead. So that

[30:21] means to learn how to listen

[30:24] visibly

[30:26] which is I've never said that I don't

[30:28] think [snorts]

[30:29] um to listen in such a way as you're

[30:33] listening is coming from within you it's

[30:38] totally embodied

[30:41] and that means that you are not

[30:46] listening with your reactive mind you

[30:49] know and You're not just listening with

[30:52] your beautiful um heart centered

[30:56] intuition.

[30:58] You're listening with the whole brain

[31:00] and you're listening from the center of

[31:03] the forehead which is as we know the

[31:06] pineal. Um and I often share with people

[31:10] just a little practice actually where

[31:12] you just close your eyes and just have a

[31:16] good breathe. Just first of all just

[31:19] take a big breath in just with mouth

[31:21] closed.

[31:23] Breathe big breath in and then open your

[31:26] mouth and just [sighs]

[31:30] just to really energize your breath and

[31:33] your whole body. And again breathing in

[31:39] [sighs]

[31:42] good. And this really energizes and

[31:44] brings us into a deeper presence

[31:47] together. Again, just another third.

[31:53] [sighs]

[31:56] Yeah. Lovely.

[31:58] And just to at this moment just to let

[32:02] yourself

[32:04] oh just relax the whole body mind

[32:11] and to be aware of the central vertical

[32:14] axis

[32:16] of your body.

[32:20] And to be aware of

[32:23] receiving that vertical axis from the

[32:26] top of your skull, from the cosmos and

[32:30] down invisibly down energetically down,

[32:34] vibrating right down through the center

[32:36] of the body,

[32:39] diving down through the pineal, down

[32:43] through the throat,

[32:45] down through the heart center,

[32:48] the solar plexus. is

[32:52] pelvis

[32:54] root of the body and on down

[32:58] into the earth

[33:02] and bring full awareness to your feet,

[33:07] the middle of your feet.

[33:11] It's a lovely acupuncture point there,

[33:13] the bubbling spring.

[33:16] And just take your awareness on down

[33:19] a thousand miles down

[33:26] and just listen

[33:29] as you're breathing

[33:34] and just notice how your breathing also

[33:37] just knows when it relaxes where to

[33:39] breathe from.

[33:44] So listening into the belly right now.

[33:47] Breathing into the belly

[33:53] and breathing out. [sighs]

[34:00] And notice how that just keep that

[34:02] breathing going naturally.

[34:06] And just notice how that wants to

[34:07] connect with the upper torso.

[34:13] >> [sighs and gasps]

[34:17] >> And then just enjoy smiling as you're

[34:20] breathing.

[34:25] [sighs]

[34:26] I'm here.

[34:30] I'm here.

[34:36] [sighs]

[34:38] And be aware of your heart center

[34:40] opening your shoulders relaxing. Just

[34:44] let the shoulders

[34:46] rotate

[34:48] back and forth

[34:50] and just start to feel the whole

[34:52] coherence of your body, the awareness of

[34:55] that coherence returning.

[34:59] >> [sighs]

[35:00] >> and just also making little circles in

[35:04] the air with your nose

[35:07] one way and the other way. And what that

[35:10] does, of course, is it opens up the

[35:12] throat chakra at the back of the neck.

[35:16] And you might just want to

[35:18] have a lovely massage there at the back.

[35:20] Just move to massage round the back of

[35:23] the neck,

[35:25] round the base of the skull, and just

[35:27] give it a lovely massage.

[35:30] That's such a good idea, isn't it?

[35:34] Very good. And then just right to under

[35:39] the ears.

[35:41] Under the ears.

[35:43] As obviously we have teachers here

[35:46] within this wonderful shift network who

[35:50] really hone in on this. the the vagus

[35:52] nerve of course, the lymphatic system

[35:56] and how that all really

[35:59] is more important that we can possibly

[36:01] imagine, how it connects us to the vagus

[36:03] nerve.

[36:05] And then [music] just coming around

[36:06] massaging the face

[36:12] and just open up the mouth a little bit.

[36:16] You may just want to make a bit of sound

[36:17] there.

[36:21] Yeah,

[36:32] [sighs]

[36:32] that's good. And [music] if you feel to

[36:35] just tap on the crown just to wake up

[36:38] the crown chakra

[36:43] and we're sitting still and so on. But

[36:45] just coming round to the shoulders

[36:48] around the outside of the arms. Just

[36:50] tapping right down to the hands inside

[36:54] and out and across. Ah,

[37:00] [laughter]

[37:02] and then around the outside of the arm,

[37:05] your other arm and the inside. And we

[37:07] could do this for a few hours, but

[37:09] unfortunately, we only have just a few

[37:11] minutes. [laughter]

[37:13] So, and again, just rotating the

[37:16] stomach. And I'm just at this point just

[37:19] going to um bring in a little bit of

[37:22] sound from my best friend known as a

[37:26] harmonium.

[37:30] So [music] just allow yourself now to be

[37:33] aware of this vertical axis.

[37:39] And this [music]

[37:40] if you like

[37:43] although it's only recently that I've

[37:45] really come to consciously call it that

[37:47] [music] is a medicine song.

[37:51] And it's [music] doesn't go anywhere. It

[37:54] stays here and it just moves a little

[37:56] bit [music] down.

[38:03] >> [music]

[38:04] >> And you might recognize that motion of

[38:24] beautiful. Let's just [music]

[38:26] so we what we can do is the these these

[38:29] three notes which [music] literally

[38:31] circle around the source note the

[38:34] unchanging note that you can hear

[38:37] are used a lot in vadic [music] ancient

[38:40] vadic mantric charting and a very dear

[38:43] friend of mine Dr. TMBBE in India

[38:46] [music] gave over many years to uh

[38:49] exploring how Indian mantra

[38:52] is the most powerful force for healing

[38:56] [music]

[38:57] healing through the voice.

[39:02] So you can being [music] a westerner you

[39:04] can add

[39:07] beloved [singing]

[39:11] source. [music]

[39:18] By your grace

[39:25] I [singing] am [music]

[39:28] alive.

[39:30] life

[39:32] [music]

[39:34] beloved

[39:36] source. [music]

[39:42] By [music and singing] your grace

[39:49] I am

[39:52] alive [music]

[39:57] [singing]

[39:59] source [music]

[40:05] by your grace [singing]

[40:11] I am [music]

[40:15] alive.

[40:17] [singing]

[40:51] And so

[40:53] it's the silence

[40:57] that is the healing.

[41:05] >> Beautiful. It's the alchemy of the two

[41:07] though, isn't it? Of course,

[41:10] because what that unchanging note is

[41:13] doing is holding this witnessing mind

[41:17] presence. So,

[41:20] and that of course is what activates

[41:22] this deepening awareness that takes us

[41:24] beyond

[41:26] the ordinary mind.

[41:30] >> Well, beautiful. And I want to just ask

[41:33] a few questions about that practice. So

[41:35] all of this sort of like physical

[41:36] warming up of your body um we often

[41:39] associate more voice or medicine just

[41:42] just more localized here but you're

[41:44] really designing this as more of a full

[41:47] body activation it seems

[41:49] >> absolutely essential I mean it's

[41:51] pointless without it I mean because

[41:53] otherwise it's not pointless without it

[41:55] uh but it is uh absolutely essential

[41:59] let's be clear um and obviously

[42:04] All of us have our own ways of you know

[42:07] energizing the body and so on. [snorts]

[42:10] Um there is there are various practices

[42:12] that we can do. There's a lovely

[42:14] practice that I'd love to share with you

[42:16] which just really in a in a while maybe

[42:19] not immediately now but that um helps us

[42:23] to connect the physicality

[42:26] with

[42:28] the voice itself. you know, um, we could

[42:32] do it now if you like.

[42:33] >> Sure. Since it's up.

[42:36] >> So, just absolutely shaking

[42:41] shaking the body, having a good shake

[42:43] all over. And that uh tapping that we

[42:46] were doing can carry on right down

[42:50] right down to the feet and up again and

[42:54] so on. Yep.

[42:58] So just to follow on from and just to

[43:02] remember the silence that we've just

[43:04] experienced

[43:06] to another way of accessing that um as a

[43:10] medicine song is simply to take the the

[43:16] sound of the M the ancient the a

[43:19] and to bring your right hand around your

[43:22] left thumb

[43:24] and so that you've got a very solid

[43:27] rooted feel.

[43:32] [sighs and gasps]

[43:34] And what you can then do, Stephen, is

[43:36] just open out

[43:39] and right up.

[43:42] Reach for your highest ideal

[43:46] and bring it down down through the

[43:49] center of your body like two wings

[43:51] closing. And then you come back to the

[43:54] right hand around the left thumb.

[43:56] closing down.

[43:59] Okay.

[44:02] And then what you can do is to just take

[44:05] one sound.

[44:11] [screaming]

[44:15] [singing]

[44:38] So that is taking the three seed sounds

[44:43] of the

[44:45] Am

[44:49] is our attention to the external

[44:52] internal world. Ooh is our attention to

[44:55] dreaming and the psychic world.

[44:59] M is our attention to dreamless sleep.

[45:04] And we come back to nothing again. And

[45:07] that can be shared as two sounds. You

[45:11] can just open into the

[45:13] [singing]

[45:15] and then take another breath. And as

[45:18] you're closing down the center of the

[45:20] body,

[45:24] [singing]

[45:43] that Steven brings us to another

[45:45] exercise if I may share. it

[45:49] uh which is a little bit more funky.

[45:52] It's a little bit more um

[45:57] just improvised if you like. Okay. So

[46:01] that's very much how we love to work is

[46:04] you know really drawing from these

[46:07] ancient practices and bringing in energy

[46:10] movement with these extraordinary sacred

[46:14] mantras and sounds of all kinds and then

[46:17] to go okay

[46:21] how do I feel?

[46:24] How do I feel?

[46:26] you know, and how does that sound?

[46:33] And it's very good to do that practice

[46:35] when you've done, you know, quite a bit

[46:37] of just embodying your sound with the

[46:41] silence and then doing some energy

[46:44] movement work, of which there's much

[46:47] more.

[46:48] and then to just relax and have a good

[46:52] shake of the body,

[46:56] you know, and to start [snorts] a bit of

[46:59] self inquiry.

[47:01] Um,

[47:02] and that's where it gets very

[47:04] interesting

[47:06] because what tends to happen is that if

[47:11] you ask somebody how do they feel about

[47:13] their voice,

[47:16] you're likely to get immediately quite a

[47:19] kind of negative response

[47:22] uh or a you know vote of no confidence

[47:24] response. Whereas if you ask somebody

[47:27] after they've done these practices a

[47:29] little bit, how do you feel about your

[47:33] voice and how does that sound?

[47:36] You can then do a one breath, one voice

[47:40] exercise.

[47:43] And this somatic this threepart somatic

[47:48] uh practice that I want to share with

[47:49] you uh is very much it is so simple and

[47:54] it's so accessible to absolutely

[47:57] everyone.

[47:59] And so all you do is you uh there are

[48:04] two ways of doing this. One is to ask

[48:07] yourself, how do I feel

[48:11] and how does that sound?

[48:14] But not just that, what quality of

[48:17] silence

[48:18] does the voice leave behind?

[48:21] Okay. And again, it's the silence that

[48:25] gives us so much information as to what

[48:29] the nature of the healing is.

[48:32] >> [snorts]

[48:33] >> And very often the body will sing itself

[48:36] and that's a whole other conversation.

[48:39] Um it will sing itself into its own

[48:42] coherence

[48:44] which is amazing.

[48:47] Uh and this somatic practice let's just

[48:50] stay with that a moment because

[48:56] just want to ask you first of all Yeah.

[49:02] First question is, what is your name?

[49:08] All right.

[49:10] What's your name?

[49:14] Okay. So, that's a kind of a way in. So,

[49:17] I might say, um, my name is Chloe. You,

[49:21] you didn't think twice about responding

[49:23] to that.

[49:25] And then what would it be like to take

[49:27] the

[49:29] consonants away?

[49:32] So I'm just left not with the structure

[49:34] of that word Chloe

[49:37] but with the energy field of that word

[49:40] oe

[49:42] the the the the the vowels that give it

[49:46] feeling

[49:48] uh that activate the feeling if you

[49:50] like. So without any thought if if I was

[49:53] just to sing Chloe without any ch L

[49:57] right just oie that's all there is

[50:03] OKAY

[50:14] just enjoy. Yeah, just have a go.

[50:18] And you might want to just take your own

[50:21] the the vowels of your own name. So that

[50:23] would be E.

[50:26] Yeah. [sighs]

[50:29] To take the consonants away. What would

[50:32] that be like? And so let's just invite

[50:35] everybody to to do this.

[50:42] And the practice is to listen and just

[50:46] to allow the feeling to

[50:49] sound the voice.

[50:51] So it's allowing you it's it's an act of

[50:54] self-reme.

[50:56] You're you're not performing,

[50:58] you're not entertaining,

[51:02] you know, you're not you're not even

[51:05] doing any kind of psychotherrapeutic

[51:07] in-depth investigation. It's just

[51:12] Oh.

[51:22] Oh. We

[51:30] Oh.

[51:48] Do you want to have a go Stephen so we

[51:50] can hear you? Be lovely.

[51:53] [laughter]

[51:53] >> I was muted. I didn't want to override.

[52:09] Well, it's interesting. Already you've

[52:12] given me something as in [music]

[52:17] I think we were there.

[52:20] So if I was just to add this,

[52:27] >> can you start to hear listen in more

[52:29] deeply to who is singing

[52:32] or who is sounding should we say?

[52:51] Yeah.

[53:11] >> How's that?

[53:12] >> Yeah, it's starting. Well, I start to

[53:14] settle more like as I close my eyes and

[53:16] kind of come back at myself and less

[53:18] trying to project and more actually

[53:20] trying to just enjoy the sound as it's

[53:22] moving.

[53:23] >> Yeah, exactly. Exactly. I mean, I think

[53:26] probably I can really hear it's

[53:29] beautiful. Um, how would you describe

[53:32] the energy of that or the emotion or the

[53:35] feeling of it? Where do you feel it in

[53:38] the body? Where do you feel it in your

[53:39] body? I

[53:40] >> definitely feel it more in the heart

[53:41] area. Mhm.

[53:42] >> It's interesting. It made me just on a

[53:44] thought level think about like how I've

[53:46] identified a little bit more with the

[53:47] consonants and the like the vowels are

[53:49] sort of like the fillers versus like the

[53:52] vowels are the essence and the

[53:54] consonants kind of are like bookends or

[53:56] something.

[53:58] >> Yeah. Isn't that interesting? That in

[54:00] itself is fascinating, isn't it? Because

[54:02] they're so interdependent, aren't they?

[54:04] >> [clears throat]

[54:05] >> Um, and and there's no question that the

[54:08] the if you think of Italian,

[54:14] you know, you that that kind of, you

[54:16] know, it's all about the vowels and it's

[54:18] all about coming, you know, and that's

[54:21] what your it sounded it was almost if I

[54:24] was hearing your Italian ancestors or

[54:26] something, but it's like if you were to

[54:28] actually consider doing that for half an

[54:30] hour, for um 30 minutes, Right. Uh that

[54:36] would be you'd probably find yourself in

[54:39] quite a new

[54:42] place within yourself because for me the

[54:44] consonants they're like the masculine

[54:45] and feminine to a large degree

[54:48] >> you know and so they they are so

[54:51] interdependent you know um and they it

[54:56] all matters. It all matters doesn't it?

[54:58] I think it's a fascinating exercise also

[55:00] just because you know we've probably

[55:02] heard our name almost more than any

[55:04] other word and it's like our identity is

[55:06] built around this name and to kind of

[55:08] like enter into a different relationship

[55:10] with it through the vowels. It's like oh

[55:13] that's interesting that your name is a

[55:14] portal into our deeper essence too.

[55:18] >> Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, that can

[55:20] then take you into deeper states of, you

[55:22] know, nada yoga practice, the ancient

[55:24] practice of sound when you're just

[55:27] singing the primordial sound. Um, and if

[55:33] you were to really take that to a very

[55:36] deep place, you'd find yourself sounding

[55:40] for

[55:41] three hours without stopping. Just the

[55:43] one unchanging note.

[55:47] And I cannot in I cannot recommend it

[55:50] enough. It's it's quite extraordinary

[55:52] what that does when you take the melody

[55:56] lines away. Uh you take, you know, the

[56:00] all the other things I should be doing

[56:01] away,

[56:03] you know, and you're just in this

[56:05] present moment with yourself,

[56:08] you know.

[56:09] I used to we used to do that a lot more

[56:12] and I'm I can feel it coming back again

[56:15] uh in my life now with people

[56:17] particularly as people are so jagged and

[56:22] you know afraid and too much driven by

[56:25] what what they're watching on the news

[56:26] and so on. Um I've stopped watching the

[56:29] news. Uh I just am enjoying

[56:33] uh you know deepening my connection with

[56:35] in-person community here

[56:38] >> and it's quite extraordinary how many

[56:41] people are being galvanized towards

[56:44] singing just sounding and singing. We

[56:47] have more choirs in this area than I've

[56:49] ever come across, you know,

[56:51] >> and so now, yeah. So,

[56:53] >> yeah, I'd love to share a little bit. I

[56:55] know we're going to be diving deeper

[56:56] into the practices in your upcoming

[56:58] course. So, just a little bit about what

[56:59] you've seen as people do this opening to

[57:02] their own medicine, which in some ways

[57:04] less about song and just more like the

[57:05] vibrational essence moving through you

[57:07] in kind of more fully embodied ways.

[57:09] What do you what do you see? How does

[57:10] their life tend to change?

[57:12] >> Yeah. Well, it's it can change quite

[57:16] dramatically. In other words, it uh the

[57:18] suffering element of one's life which is

[57:21] so much identified with a dualistic

[57:23] polarized way of thinking all the time

[57:26] which is obviously as we all know is

[57:28] very leftbrain driven. Um it just

[57:32] balances it balances all the brains in

[57:34] the body you know and the coherence in

[57:36] the body uh in such an extraordinary way

[57:40] that it makes one revision the purpose

[57:43] of suffering

[57:45] you

[57:45] >> know uh and also how one's own

[57:49] biological narrative has been really

[57:53] radically instrumental

[57:55] you know however terrible it was in

[57:59] empowering us to find Our voice, our

[58:01] true voice, our, you know, the voice of

[58:05] the soul, not the voice of the brain and

[58:07] the one that wants to be seen to be

[58:09] believed, but the one that really wants

[58:13] to

[58:14] return home to itself, to remember

[58:17] itself. It really is a journey of

[58:18] self-rememance

[58:20] and therefore a very transformative

[58:22] journey because you are literally going

[58:25] beyond your normal attachment to the

[58:28] security of form that you experience in

[58:31] everyday life you know our attachments

[58:34] to you know even the coffee machine

[58:37] [laughter] dare I say you know and so

[58:40] it's it's it's quite fascinating that it

[58:44] rebalances our

[58:46] relationship ship between form and

[58:48] formless, between visible and invisible,

[58:51] between our concepts of life and death

[58:54] even you know um so many people I mean

[58:57] I've worked with people of the most

[59:00] untold suffering you know in prisons

[59:04] um New York high security prison um

[59:07] mcgalbury prison in Belfast in Ireland

[59:11] and um just ordinary human beings like

[59:13] you and me you know who are so busy

[59:17] trying to get it right, [laughter] you

[59:20] know, so busy trying to be successful,

[59:24] trying to be somebody, you know. Um, and

[59:28] it's exhausting. It's exhausting. Uh and

[59:32] of course this the narratives that we've

[59:36] kind of our biological narratives that

[59:37] we've gone through have actually

[59:40] demonstrated to us once you start

[59:42] investigating more closely we have a

[59:45] practice called the vocal selfportrait

[59:48] where you literally write the story of

[59:50] your voice uh from as early as you can

[59:54] remember right through to present day

[59:58] and it's it basically transformed formed

[1:00:01] my relationship with my mother. You

[1:00:03] know, I was busy interpreting her at

[1:00:05] that time as being, oh, really

[1:00:08] untogether unconscious woman, you know,

[1:00:11] driven by the patriarchy and, you know,

[1:00:14] three children before she was 25 and I

[1:00:16] was the third, you know, all of that

[1:00:17] stuff, you know, and I did this practice

[1:00:21] and I actually did it very deeply. Um, I

[1:00:24] learned to do it with a Japanese

[1:00:27] meditation teacher who

[1:00:29] required me to sit behind a screen

[1:00:31] actually for [laughter]

[1:00:33] 3 days to investigate with in with great

[1:00:37] detail every single action in my life

[1:00:40] that created reactivity, that created

[1:00:43] reaction, that created blame, you know,

[1:00:46] obstacle. Um, that created my story

[1:00:50] about my special suffering, you know.

[1:00:53] And I mean I say that that sounds quite

[1:00:55] harsh perhaps, but I think it's really

[1:00:59] important that we as human beings

[1:01:01] actually understand that this singular

[1:01:05] voice, the voice of your soul

[1:01:08] has the most extraordinary capacity to

[1:01:11] draw on the riches of the challenges

[1:01:15] we've had to go through in our lives and

[1:01:18] to sound it out. And it's the process of

[1:01:21] sounding it out and

[1:01:24] really allowing oneself to sound it out

[1:01:27] verbally, non-verbbally, you know, with

[1:01:30] words, with sentences, formlessly,

[1:01:33] inform.

[1:01:35] It's that journey that really brings us

[1:01:38] up against uh, you know, our our most

[1:01:41] major obstacles and sense of self, sense

[1:01:45] of um, I'm not worthy. That was mine.

[1:01:48] I'm so not worthy. You know, I was

[1:01:50] brought up in that. You know how the

[1:01:53] institutional Christianity can be a

[1:01:55] little bit like that. You can get into

[1:01:57] this. There is, you know, I am not

[1:02:00] worthy to gather up the crumbs from

[1:02:01] under thy table.

[1:02:03] >> Jesus wouldn't have said that. He would

[1:02:06] have had you at the table eating, right?

[1:02:09] [laughter]

[1:02:10] Eating well, right?

[1:02:12] um you know but that unworthiness

[1:02:15] brought with it its own alchemical

[1:02:18] worthiness and the worthiness came

[1:02:20] through the voice. I mean I would not

[1:02:22] have found it I don't think any other

[1:02:23] way because I was busy being

[1:02:25] intellectual going to Cambridge and

[1:02:27] trying to behave you know but actually

[1:02:31] uh it wasn't until I realized how worthy

[1:02:34] I I am you know and it was the voice

[1:02:36] that brought me there it insisted it

[1:02:39] sent me off to India it made me dream

[1:02:41] about the heart sutra you know it made

[1:02:44] me connect with my master you know it

[1:02:47] made me

[1:02:49] embody in other I was far too etheric,

[1:02:52] right? I was just like,

[1:02:54] [sighs and gasps] it's all about this

[1:02:56] [laughter]

[1:02:57] and uh no, not at all, you know. So,

[1:03:04] it's the narrative, the biological

[1:03:06] narrative is a and is is a core part of

[1:03:09] the journey. It's a really core part of

[1:03:11] the journey. And that nada yoga is a way

[1:03:15] of completing if you like 10 years

[1:03:19] psychotherapy in 5 days

[1:03:21] >> you know

[1:03:23] >> really inspiring well this work is super

[1:03:24] inspiring and also really fun Chloe so

[1:03:27] it's it's a lot of fun

[1:03:28] >> wonderfully liberating and it's amazing

[1:03:30] how just something as simple as your the

[1:03:32] vowels of your name can be a portal into

[1:03:34] a whole deeper dimension of yourself.

[1:03:36] So, let's talk about your upcoming

[1:03:38] course, which is a remarkable way to

[1:03:40] dive in there with you and really get

[1:03:41] the the essence of these practices,

[1:03:44] these openings, these healings um of the

[1:03:46] medicine song. So, we're really blessed

[1:03:48] that Khloe's agreed to teach this

[1:03:49] groundbreaking new course. It's called

[1:03:51] Medicine Songs for Your Soul's

[1:03:52] Expression. Awaken the awaken the

[1:03:55] healing power of your voice to release

[1:03:56] emotional blocks and liberate your

[1:03:58] authentic self. You can find at the URL

[1:04:00] medicine foryous soul.com. medicine

[1:04:03] songs foryousoul.com.

[1:04:05] You don't need to be a singer for this

[1:04:07] program. There are no prerequisites.

[1:04:08] It's really um just if you feel called.

[1:04:10] And so Khloe, I'd love for you to share

[1:04:12] some of your intentions for what people

[1:04:14] will come away with and we'll give a

[1:04:15] brief tour of the modules and what

[1:04:16] you'll be teaching.

[1:04:18] >> Well, absolutely. I mean, it's very much

[1:04:20] about the embodiment. It's about the

[1:04:22] deep listening and it's about making

[1:04:25] that deep dive into your own language of

[1:04:28] your soul. The language of

[1:04:30] consciousness. I call it the language of

[1:04:31] consciousness that is your soul. And

[1:04:34] that involves really embodying your

[1:04:36] voice in this incredible resonant

[1:04:40] chamber that is your human body. You

[1:04:42] know, it is phenomenal as a resonant

[1:04:45] chamber. So, it's remembering it as a

[1:04:48] chamber of resonance. Uh, and then

[1:04:51] making and discovering you have the

[1:04:53] power and the capacity to make these

[1:04:55] songs yourself and to let them transmit

[1:05:00] into the world around you. That's that's

[1:05:02] the purpose. And then we have further

[1:05:05] practices that take us into what we call

[1:05:07] the singing field that then take you and

[1:05:10] really explore how you can really build

[1:05:13] fields of consciousness, conscious

[1:05:15] language around you where you live,

[1:05:18] wherever you are in the world.

[1:05:20] >> Yeah.

[1:05:20] >> Beautiful. Well, module one is called

[1:05:22] awaken your secret voice. Reconnect with

[1:05:24] your natural voice and express yourself

[1:05:26] more freely.

[1:05:27] >> Yes. Absolutely. Well, that's there it

[1:05:30] is. is discovering that secret, you

[1:05:32] know, I mean, very often we lose it when

[1:05:34] we're about three or four years old. Uh,

[1:05:36] and there it is. It's back, you know,

[1:05:38] and it's really exploring the sacredness

[1:05:42] of secret, you know, secret and sacred

[1:05:45] uh are the same word essentially. So,

[1:05:48] it's really connecting, reconnecting

[1:05:50] with your own divinity at source. That's

[1:05:53] that's number one. And that comes with

[1:05:55] with this connection with the self, with

[1:05:58] the silence and with the unchanging

[1:06:00] note. Very important.

[1:06:02] >> Module two, empower your resonant voice.

[1:06:05] Let your voice flow naturally and

[1:06:07] powerfully.

[1:06:08] >> Yes, absolutely. Well, again, it's

[1:06:10] deepening the resonance all the way.

[1:06:14] It's really letting that resonance just

[1:06:17] practicing, practicing, practicing, uh,

[1:06:19] and letting that resonance really start

[1:06:21] to move through you. And each time each

[1:06:24] of these modules by the way I will be

[1:06:25] introducing uh a medicine song. I don't

[1:06:28] want to say what they are right now. Um

[1:06:30] but they will be each module will be

[1:06:32] accompanying uh accompanied by a

[1:06:35] resonant song. And this particular

[1:06:38] module two is focusing on the this

[1:06:42] extraordinarily powerful mantra of the

[1:06:45] audra

[1:06:51] for um realization actually you know and

[1:06:55] for realization to be a really simple

[1:06:57] thing. [sighs]

[1:06:59] >> Module three embody your emotional voice

[1:07:01] transform emotional blocks into

[1:07:03] authentic expression. Yeah, absolutely.

[1:07:07] Well, it's the it's this emotional voice

[1:07:10] that we have to discover or rediscover,

[1:07:13] I should say, that is really um a cover

[1:07:18] up, right, on the part of the the left

[1:07:21] brain, you know, or the personality

[1:07:22] voice um for your soul voice. And so uh

[1:07:29] and that means accessing the voice of

[1:07:31] much deeper states of human feeling and

[1:07:34] the emotions if you like of the surface

[1:07:37] energy of the voice. And what we're

[1:07:38] having to learn to do is to make that

[1:07:41] connection into deeper states of human

[1:07:44] feeling. And that's where we get into

[1:07:46] the alchemy of emotion actually you know

[1:07:49] how longing for example I spoke about at

[1:07:52] the beginning arises from depression you

[1:07:55] know and how you know happiness and

[1:07:58] sadness are actually interconnected

[1:08:00] and once you start to hear the sound of

[1:08:03] these uh different emotional states you

[1:08:06] can start to hear the corresponding

[1:08:08] forces of that state. So, for example,

[1:08:11] if you say, "Oh, I feel really afraid."

[1:08:14] You know, that that's the biggest

[1:08:15] contrip on the planet that we've been

[1:08:18] brought up with. Um cuz if you think of

[1:08:22] fear, whenever I ask somebody, try this

[1:08:24] yourself, everybody. Um when you think

[1:08:27] of the word fear, just do the practice

[1:08:29] we've just done and what does fear sound

[1:08:33] like? Right? And just do the practice.

[1:08:36] Get into a good listening state.

[1:08:38] Practice without any thought. What does

[1:08:40] fear sound like? And then let the

[1:08:42] silence follow and see what happens.

[1:08:45] What we're what I'm finding more and

[1:08:47] more deeply as we practice this is the

[1:08:50] alchemy of fear with awe, with wonder.

[1:08:54] It's just it is so it's such powerful

[1:08:57] energy. Fear, you know, it's like

[1:08:59] centuries of of um repression uh and and

[1:09:04] of of of believing that that we we have

[1:09:07] to live in fear, you know. Uh, and so

[1:09:10] we're going to release that one. We're

[1:09:11] not having that.

[1:09:12] >> Beautiful. Module four, ignite your

[1:09:15] intentional voice. Live your truth and

[1:09:17] honor your and honor your personal

[1:09:18] calling.

[1:09:20] >> Right. This has been a really important

[1:09:22] one for me. I should tell you and I just

[1:09:24] really want you to know I am so in this

[1:09:26] journey with you because it's such an

[1:09:29] amazing journey and I'm just so excited

[1:09:31] to share with you. But for me, intention

[1:09:33] has been really challenging in my own

[1:09:35] personal life. Um because I was busy

[1:09:38] being so etheric and hearing all this

[1:09:40] sound as this kind of I didn't have time

[1:09:42] to think about well how are you going to

[1:09:43] land that? How are you going to actually

[1:09:45] you know make that work in the world? Um

[1:09:48] and so the intentional voice is

[1:09:51] essential. It is imperative.

[1:09:53] And particularly now, of course, more

[1:09:56] than ever in the world, we realize as we

[1:09:59] as we're entering a whole new field and

[1:10:02] of consciousness in the world, intention

[1:10:06] to really step up to really live our

[1:10:09] conscious

[1:10:10] uh commitment to what it means to be

[1:10:13] fully human. So, intention, big yes to

[1:10:16] that. There's some serious songs that go

[1:10:18] with that.

[1:10:20] >> Module five, remember your soul voice.

[1:10:22] experience your voice is healing

[1:10:24] medicine and inner connection.

[1:10:26] >> Right. Well, that is

[1:10:30] one of the great blessings for me module

[1:10:31] 5 [laughter] because [snorts] it is

[1:10:35] really it's it's like a homecoming for

[1:10:38] me. It's when you experience your soul,

[1:10:40] when you really experience it and it

[1:10:42] doesn't leave you. It doesn't come and

[1:10:43] go anymore, you know? It's always there.

[1:10:46] Uh your connection with it, it's it's

[1:10:49] the homecoming. It's it's it's

[1:10:51] beautiful. And the the medicine songs

[1:10:53] that go with that really invite you to

[1:10:57] really take responsibility

[1:11:00] uh you know for your own soul's journey

[1:11:02] and the voice that is required to really

[1:11:06] live your full your soul journey in

[1:11:09] fullness.

[1:11:11] >> Module six embrace your medicine voice

[1:11:14] trans bring its transforming power into

[1:11:15] your life in the wider world.

[1:11:18] >> Well that kind of explains itself

[1:11:20] really. Uh that's really what's going on

[1:11:22] there. And uh it's really looking at how

[1:11:27] you it feels most authentic for you to

[1:11:30] share this work with others. It could be

[1:11:32] just your family or a child or your

[1:11:34] grandmother, you [snorts] know. Um or it

[1:11:37] could be in the wider field of your

[1:11:39] community life. I would I would love to

[1:11:41] encourage that. But it just depends what

[1:11:44] your soul is calling for. and your soul

[1:11:47] will dictate uh just exactly what

[1:11:52] the light, your candle's light, your

[1:11:54] inner candle's light is calling for you.

[1:11:58] >> And finally, module seven, your medicine

[1:12:00] voice as soul friendship. Embody your

[1:12:02] full spectrum voice as a language of

[1:12:04] consciousness.

[1:12:06] >> Yeah. Well, that's that's really it. And

[1:12:08] that's where um we really enter what

[1:12:12] some of you will be familiar with um the

[1:12:15] absolute core

[1:12:18] vision of my life is the singing field.

[1:12:20] Um and I've shared that in previous um

[1:12:23] shift courses. Uh but I can't help that

[1:12:26] because I just I'm I feel like I'm a

[1:12:27] walking singing field now. So [laughter]

[1:12:29] I I just have no choice but to um

[1:12:33] encourage uh the principles and the

[1:12:36] practices that accompany finding your

[1:12:38] own soul voice, sharing it with others,

[1:12:41] and discovering that you have the

[1:12:43] capacity to create your own medicine

[1:12:45] songs is incredibly healing, you know,

[1:12:48] and it doesn't involve lots of external

[1:12:52] props, doesn't involve anything. It's

[1:12:54] just your inner life that is expressing

[1:12:57] in a whole new way uh outwardly in the

[1:13:00] world around you. And of course that

[1:13:02] means energetically

[1:13:04] uh in terms of your own field of

[1:13:06] resonance as well. So it's it's a very

[1:13:11] joyous journey. I'm can't wait to start.

[1:13:14] [laughter]

[1:13:16] >> Well, what a beautiful journey and I

[1:13:17] know you're also just such a dynamic and

[1:13:19] fun and empowering teacher to be with.

[1:13:21] So again, there's more detail on each of

[1:13:23] the modules at medicine songs foryous

[1:13:25] soul.com.

[1:13:26] If you choose to move forward um on a

[1:13:28] practical level, you get the seven

[1:13:29] 90-minute uh sessions with Khloe, which

[1:13:32] includes time to do practices together,

[1:13:34] have your questions addressed. She'll be

[1:13:36] teaching. There's recordings of every

[1:13:38] session, both video and audio, as well

[1:13:40] as word forword transcripts. There

[1:13:42] weekly practices you can do at home.

[1:13:44] There are community groups, community

[1:13:46] group to support you and deepen your

[1:13:48] experience as well as small group time

[1:13:49] to connect with other participants. And

[1:13:52] on the page, you'll see Khloe's also

[1:13:53] been uh generous with a number of extra

[1:13:55] bonuses as well. And uh I think the

[1:13:58] first one's particularly exciting. It's

[1:13:59] a 60inute MP3 album called There Is Some

[1:14:02] Kiss We Want With Our Whole Lives. And

[1:14:04] that's Khloe with Coleman Barks, who's

[1:14:06] one of the most renowned Roomie

[1:14:07] translators. Want to share more about

[1:14:09] that?

[1:14:10] >> Oh, it's it's a lovely it's a lovely

[1:14:12] story actually. We we both discovered we

[1:14:14] both written a book with Naked in it. So

[1:14:17] he'd written a book called Naked Song

[1:14:18] and I'd written a book called The Naked

[1:14:20] Voice. And I I literally contacted him

[1:14:22] for permission to um set his poems to

[1:14:26] music. And [clears throat] uh yeah, and

[1:14:30] and so that's how we met. Uh and he I

[1:14:33] just got this wonderful message back

[1:14:34] from him saying uh fly naked with the

[1:14:38] with your voice, with the with the naked

[1:14:40] songs and with the poems. Um and then we

[1:14:42] finally met and started touring

[1:14:44] together. So it was very very special

[1:14:46] and it was really with Coleman that I

[1:14:48] started to learn how to collapse the

[1:14:50] dimensions really between speaking

[1:14:52] mystical language. You know how that

[1:14:55] really requires you to collapse the

[1:14:57] dimensions between speaking and singing

[1:14:59] and silence. So that really is the

[1:15:01] ground of our work together. Um is to

[1:15:05] learn how to do that those three rounds.

[1:15:08] Yeah. Next, there's a second bonus

[1:15:11] that's a 205 page ebook. It's on the

[1:15:14] naked voice, a singer's journey to the

[1:15:16] spirit of sound. Share more about your

[1:15:18] ebook.

[1:15:19] >> Yeah. Well, that book actually is the

[1:15:21] first book I ever read, wrote rather.

[1:15:25] Um, and it's this one. This is what I

[1:15:27] looked like when I started out on this

[1:15:29] journey. Um, and uh, it's uh, it's a

[1:15:33] book that seems to be becoming more

[1:15:35] popular again, which is I'm so happy

[1:15:37] about, but I want you to have it uh, for

[1:15:39] free because what it does is it gives

[1:15:40] you a background for my story uh, into

[1:15:45] this work. It gives you a deep dive into

[1:15:47] that uh, and how I ended up finding my

[1:15:50] own medicine voice.

[1:15:53] >> Beautiful. That's very generous to give

[1:15:55] the whole book. And then [clears throat]

[1:15:57] there's one final bonus you get if you

[1:15:59] sign up by midnight tonight Pacific

[1:16:00] time. We like to do this as a little act

[1:16:02] extra act of generosity for those who

[1:16:05] choose to move forward right away. And

[1:16:06] this is actually two archived audio

[1:16:08] tracks from Khloe called Sheer Joy and

[1:16:10] Freedom. Share more about those. That's

[1:16:12] special bonus for [laughter]

[1:16:15] >> I love those two. I I think particularly

[1:16:17] why we felt to choose them for this

[1:16:19] particular purpose is because they're

[1:16:21] quite anthemic. Uh and so you'll find

[1:16:24] they've got a lot of voices. Um, so I I

[1:16:26] I love recording with lots of voices and

[1:16:29] um I have this image of choirs like

[1:16:32] murmmorations of birds. Do you know that

[1:16:34] feeling of just choirs learning to

[1:16:37] behave like murmmorations of birds? So

[1:16:40] that's how I like to write music and so

[1:16:42] see what you think. Um they're very

[1:16:44] they're really fun for dancing to but

[1:16:45] also for singing with uh as well. So

[1:16:48] enjoy those. Yeah.

[1:16:49] >> Fantastic. Well, we've it's going to be

[1:16:52] an amazing program. We've kept the

[1:16:53] investment very accessible. is just

[1:16:55] three payments of $128. So, you save 10%

[1:16:58] when you pay in full with one payment of

[1:16:59] $3.49. The course is going to start

[1:17:02] October 21st and run Wednesdays at 9:00

[1:17:04] a.m. Pacific, noon Eastern, but and that

[1:17:06] also works very well for England and

[1:17:08] Europe. But even if you can't make the

[1:17:10] live times, you can still get the full

[1:17:11] value with the recordings, the

[1:17:12] transcripts in the community as well.

[1:17:14] There's some great testimonials on the

[1:17:16] page. People adore uh Khloe and her

[1:17:19] teaching and the way she empowers people

[1:17:21] and helps them open up. There's Nobel

[1:17:23] Peace Prize nominees who endorse her. So

[1:17:26] many people love Khloe and her work. So

[1:17:28] you are in very good hands and you get

[1:17:30] to have the liberation of all the

[1:17:33] practices that she has developed and

[1:17:35] cultivated over the years. So again,

[1:17:38] it's called medicine songs foryous

[1:17:40] soul.com. medicine songs foryous

[1:17:42] soul.com and the program is medicine

[1:17:44] songs for your soul's expression. Awaken

[1:17:46] the healing power of your voice to

[1:17:47] release emotional blocks and liberate

[1:17:49] your authentic self.

[1:17:51] So, Chloe, uh, anything that's still on

[1:17:53] your heart you want to share with folks

[1:17:55] who are still considering whether to

[1:17:56] join you for the program?

[1:17:58] >> Well, just these words, Stephen. Um, and

[1:18:03] this is just called the house of song

[1:18:05] and it's just called I am a musician

[1:18:09] ship.

[1:18:11] The tongue is the rudder of the voice.

[1:18:15] The voice is the messenger of the heart.

[1:18:19] The heart is the music of the soul. The

[1:18:23] soul is the presence of the spirit. The

[1:18:27] spirit is the ground of consciousness.

[1:18:32] Sound

[1:18:33] is the unifier of the body, the soul,

[1:18:38] and the spirit.

[1:18:42] >> Gorgeous.

[1:18:44] Thank you, Chloe. Thank you all for

[1:18:46] joining and we look forward to many of

[1:18:48] you in the upcoming program and you I'm

[1:18:50] sure you will be very blessed if you

[1:18:52] choose to do so. As again it's all

In the livestream, Goodchild defined a medicine song as a healing prescription from the soul. It is sound that arises from inner listening and is shaped by breath, tone, and vibration rather than by a set melody or performance standard.
No singing experience is needed, according to the livestream description. You only need to bring your voice, your curiosity, and a willingness to listen to yourself in a new way.
Goodchild's practice, called Feel the Healing Medicine in Your Voice, moves from inner listening into natural vocal expression, then to listening closely to the quality of silence the sound leaves behind. Participants notice shifts in body, emotions, and awareness at each stage.
She traced the word through Latin to roots meaning the healing art and the physician, and to a root meaning to heal. She uses that history to argue that living and expressing your life as a healing art can itself be medicine.
The Naked Voice is the voice work Goodchild founded, which she said began in 1990. It grew from experiential research in which she asked people how they felt about their own voice and gave space for their responses.
Goodchild frames this practice as presence rather than performance. Instead of judging a sound against how it should sound, the focus is on what changes in the body and awareness as the sound moves and after it stops.
The livestream suggests it can, since voice is closely tied to a person's history of being heard or silenced. The pauses and silent listening in the three-part practice are designed to let those responses be noticed rather than pushed through.
