St. Paul & The Broken Bones

St. Paul & The Broken Bones is an eight-piece band founded in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2011. The lineup is Paul Janeway on lead vocals, Browan Lollar on guitars and vocals, Jesse Phillips on bass, Kevin Leon on drums and percussion, Al Gamble on organ and piano, Allen Branstetter on trumpet, Amari Ansari on saxophone and Chad Fisher on trombone.

The band made its recording debut in 2014 with Half the City, which includes the platinum hit "Call Me." The album established a sound that led to major festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella and Glastonbury. Critical praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, SPIN and NPR followed. The band has shared stages with Elton John, The Rolling Stones and Lizzo, and has toured as a headliner. Esquire called their show a "potent live show that knocks audiences on their ass."

With each record the group has moved beyond old-school soul. Young Sick Camellia (2018) brought in summertime funk and classic disco. The Alien Coast (2022) added synths, samples, shadowy psychedelia and experimental R&B. Their live sound blends rock & roll, soul, R&B, psychedelia and funk.
