Luc Rombaut is a mindfulness trainer and coach based in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. He came to this work after a career in marketing and communications, including eight years as managing partner at the training company Itam. In 2006 he founded Aora together with Katleen Janssens. The name comes from the Spanish "ahora", meaning now: being attentively present in the moment and acting with focus. Since 2018 he has been training and coaching again under the Aora banner.
His main focus is Mindful@Work trainings. He trains and coaches people dealing with stress and burnout, and those looking for more resilience or for what really matters in their lives. He has worked with organisations such as Telenet, SDWorx, Euroclear, ING, Fuji, Solvay and the Flemish Parliament. His sessions can take place on site or online.
Luc also coaches people who have difficulties with alcohol or other drugs, and advises companies on their alcohol and drug policy. He has directed the prevention organisation Drugstories for about twenty years. It works with a team of experts by experience. He describes himself as an expert by experience with alcohol and psychedelic drugs, and he works closely with doctors and psychologists, who refer clients to each other. He is a supporter of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
His background includes about 25 years of hatha yoga and meditation, and around 15 years as a mindfulness trainer in companies. His training includes mindfulness teacher training (IAM), Integral Coaching Professional (recognised by ICF), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Buddhist psychology, motivational interviewing and group dynamics. He is currently training in body-oriented psychotherapy. He also holds master's degrees in Romance Languages and Literature (University of Antwerp) and in Marketing (Vlerick Management School). He lists annual vipassana retreats and a four-day vision quest in the Peruvian jungle among his experiences.
