Born in February 1949, Helen LaKelly Hunt is the daughter of oil tycoon H. L. Hunt and has become a prominent activist and writer dedicated to advancing women's movements and transformative relationship work. She holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Methodist University (1979) and a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary in New York, where her doctoral research explored the intersection of theology and women's activism.
Hunt is the founder and president of The Sister Fund and co-founded several influential organizations including the Texas Women's Foundation, The New York Women's Foundation, Women's Funding Network, and Women Moving Millions. Her professional work began in earnest in 1985 with her involvement in the women's movement. Together with her husband Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., she co-founded Imago Relationships International, developing Imago Relationship Therapy and the concept of "conscious partnership." As co-author of the New York Times bestseller "Getting the Love You Want," which has sold over 4 million copies, Hunt has reached millions of readers. She is also the sole author of "And The Spirit Moved Them," "Faith and Feminism," and "Sister Wisdom." In 2001, she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to women's activism and social change.
