Fiona, known as Fi, is a Nottingham-based yoga teacher who describes herself as a health and happiness advocate. She took her first yoga class in Australia in 2010, first looking to ease physical aches and tension. She was surprised to find it improved her inner well-being as well as her physical health.
After returning to the UK she completed a Drama & Theatre degree, then worked in hospitality, customer service and a logistics operations role. The long rotational day and night shifts took their toll on her health, and she decided to change direction. She completed 200 hours of teacher training at The Vikasa Yoga Academy in Koh Samui and graduated as an RYT Hatha yoga instructor, on a course recognised by Yoga Alliance.
Fi offers yoga as a welcoming, nurturing and empowering experience. She describes her classes as a modern take on a traditional practice, often combining strength, flexibility, balance, breath and posture. They include gentle meditation and relaxation, with a sense of playfulness. Options and modifications are always given, because she believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to yoga, and beginners are as welcome as advanced practitioners.
She teaches one-to-one private sessions, group classes in Nottingham and online sessions. She also offers corporate wellbeing, workshops and wellness gatherings, and hosts yoga retreats in the UK and Europe.
Worth Knowing
Fiona—known as Fi—is a Nottingham-based Hatha yoga teacher and meditation guide whose appeal rests on something rarely seen in contemporary yoga instruction: a genuine career pivot grounded in authentic burnout recovery. She discovered yoga in 2010 during a stint in Australia, initially chasing relief from physical tension, only to realize the practice was reorganizing her nervous system as much as her skeleton. After years in logistics and hospitality—work that hollowed her out through rotating night shifts—she committed to formal training at The Vikasa Yoga Academy in Koh Samui, completing 200 hours of RYT-certified Hatha yoga instruction. Her students respond to her because she teaches from lived experience of yoga's dual payoff: the strength and flexibility gains are real, but so is the quiet rewiring of anxiety and stress that happens through consistent breath work and body awareness. She positions herself as a health and happiness advocate, which resonates with practitioners fatigued by both corporate wellness platitudes and ashram-speak; she's neither a guru nor a corporate box-ticking consultant—she's someone who chose a completely different life because the old one was breaking her.
