Craig Wayne Boyd is a country singer and songwriter, best known as the Season 7 winner of NBC's The Voice in 2014, where he competed on Blake Shelton's team. His site describes him as a country singer, songwriter and father, and he has built a career with what it calls an extremely loyal fan base.
Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in the suburb of Mesquite, Boyd grew up influenced by gospel and country music. According to Wikipedia, he played many instruments in his youth and served as his church's choir director. He moved to Nashville in 2004 to pursue country music, signed a publishing deal with EMI, and spent many years writing songs and touring before The Voice.
After his win, he played the Grand Ole Opry and toured. His debut single, "My Baby's Got a Smile On Her Face," debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. He later released music through his own imprint, Long Haul Records. More recent singles include "Let It Ride Let It Roll," a banjo-driven song about meeting life's ups and downs with a positive outlook.
Boyd lives in the Nashville area with his wife, Taylor, and their children. He has spoken in podcast interviews about fatherhood and the challenge of balancing a music career with raising kids. Horses have been part of his life since childhood in Texas. He has written about learning patience and trust from his Shetland pony, Coco, and has served as an ambassador for the "Seen Through Horses" campaign.
