Albert Flynn DeSilver

Albert Flynn DeSilver is an internationally published poet, writer, speaker and workshop leader. He is the author of Writing as a Path to Awakening, published by Sounds True/Macmillan in 2017 and based on his workshops of the same name, and of the memoir Beamish Boy, which Kirkus Reviews named one of its best books of 2012. His book Singletrack Mind (2019) is described as a kinetic and contemplative meditation on mountain biking, nature and spirituality.

He has been writing and publishing books for 30 years, beginning with his Owl Press imprint in the 1990s, and served as Marin County, California's first Poet Laureate from 2008 to 2010. His work has appeared in more than 100 magazines and literary journals worldwide, including The New York Times, ZYZZYVA, Chicago Review and Poetry Kanto. He holds a BFA from the University of Colorado and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.

Albert has taught and spoken at the Esalen Institute, the Omega Institute, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight-LA and TEDx-Santa Cruz, and at writing conferences across the country. Today he works as a publisher, writing coach and consultant through DeSilver Publishing. His coaching draws on mindfulness meditation practices to build focus and creativity, along with reflection and consistent action. He lives in Northern California.
