Descrizione

Trauma Sensitive Yoga for Female Survivors is a free, gentle yoga class for women who have survived trauma, offered in person by YogaSong and Victim Services Inc. It is led by Rachel Allen, a Registered Yoga Teacher who works from a trauma informed framework. The class is built as an accepting space, and everyone is warmly welcomed.

What to Expect

This is a one-hour trauma sensitive yoga (TSY) class, held in the early afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The practice is gentle, and choices and options are offered throughout, so you decide what feels right in your own body from moment to moment.

The focus is on tools and supports for nervous system integration, and on carrying the practice off the mat and into daily life. The aim is not to perform poses but to build a steady, usable relationship with your own sensations and your breath.

No experience is necessary. If you have never done yoga, you are as welcome as someone with years of practice.

About Rachel Allen

Rachel Allen is a Certified Music Practitioner, Sound Healer, Reiki Master and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher who works from a trauma informed, social justice framework. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology and is based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, serving the greater Pittsburgh region and working with individuals and organizations virtually.

Her work merges music, yoga and community, and is aimed at creating healthy, diverse and joyful communities. Her yoga classes are usually theme-based, drawing together yogic philosophy, breathwork, asana, live music and meditation. She also leads community singing and sound healing, using chant, mantra and free movement, some of it her own compositions and some drawn from her years of group singing across cultures and from the Yogic tradition.

Before You Go

Pre-registration is required for everyone. Because this is a protected space, the location is not published. It is shared privately, on request, with those who register through Victim Services Inc.

You are welcome to invite people you know who could benefit from this service and support. They will also need to pre-register.

There is no cost to attend, and no prior yoga experience is needed. Come as you are, and take the options that serve you.
