Descrizione

The Heart of Buddhism: Sacred View Sacred World is an online Buddhist studies course in the Tibetan tradition, offered by Tara Mandala. It is Course Four of "The Heart of Buddhism: A Year of Study & Practice," taught by Dorje Lopön Charlotte Rotterdam and Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo. It suits students who want to bring Tibetan Buddhist teachings into ordinary daily life, and those following the full yearlong program who want to continue from the earlier courses.

What to Expect

The course explores three themes: the rise of the feminine in Tibetan Buddhism, how sacred view can change the way we meet daily life, and the householder path as a powerful way to integrate practice into everyday life. It meets online over about five to six weeks.

Within the yearlong program, each five-week course builds on the one before while standing alone as a complete teaching, so it may be taken individually. The program as a whole looks at the history, core teachings, and practices that guide practitioners in the Tibetan tradition in waking up to their innate compassion and wisdom.

About Dorje Lopön Charlotte Rotterdam

Dorje Lopön Charlotte Rotterdam is a senior teacher in Lama Tsultrim Allione's Tara Mandala community. She also leads other Tara Mandala programs, including the Skymind teachings on Machig Labdrön's wisdom, the yearlong Skymind path, and an eight-week exploration of the Enneagram and the Five Buddha Families. She also teaches in the Feeding Your Demons® program, which blends Tibetan wisdom with modern psychology.

About Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo

Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo is among the teachers of the wider Heart of Buddhism program. She also teaches Course Two, which focuses on the Eightfold Path and the Buddha's insights into suffering and liberation. In this course she joins Charlotte Rotterdam to explore the feminine in Tibetan Buddhism and the householder path.

Before You Go

This course is part of the Gateway series, which makes it a natural entry point to Tara Mandala's studies. No prerequisites are listed. Because each course in the series stands alone, you do not need to have taken the earlier three first, though those who have will find it continues the thread of the year. Sessions are held online, so all you need is a way to join from home.
