Informazioni su questo evento

Descrizione

An Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert is a live evening with the bestselling American author at Sunset Cultural Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. It is presented by Sunset Center as part of Elizabeth Gilbert's tour, and it suits readers of her memoirs and novels, as well as anyone drawn to the reflective, spiritually curious thread that runs through her writing on travel, devotion, creativity and personal change.

What to Expect

The evening begins at 7:00 pm and is listed as a stop on Elizabeth Gilbert's tour. It is a gathering built around the author herself, in a theater setting on the Monterey Peninsula, rather than a retreat or a practice session. Anyone looking for a quiet, contemplative night out in Carmel-by-the-Sea, shaped by one of the best-known voices in contemporary memoir, will find the shape of it here.

About Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert is an American author and journalist. Her books include the memoirs Eat, Pray, Love, Committed, Big Magic and All the Way to the River, the novels Stern Men, The Signature of All Things and City of Girls, the biography The Last American Man, and the story collection Pilgrims.

Her career began in magazines. Esquire published her short story "Pilgrims" in 1993, and steady work for national magazines followed. Her first book, the story collection Pilgrims, won the Pushcart Prize. The Last American Man, her account of the naturalist Eustace Conway, was nominated for the National Book Award. She has also republished At Home on the Range, a 1947 cookbook by her great-grandmother, Margaret Yardley Potter.

Eat, Pray, Love, published in 2006, chronicled a year of travel in Italy, India and Indonesia. It remains the book most readers know her for, and it is the reason many people first came to her work.

The Setting

The event takes place at Sunset Cultural Center, on San Carlos Street in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The village sits on the central California coast, and the center is one of its main venues for live performances and speakers. An evening start means you can plan a relaxed dinner in town beforehand, and the center's own website is the place to check for venue details before you travel.
