Malte Marten Live

Malte Marten brings his Healing Frequencies Tour to Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo, Norway, for an evening of handpan music and sound healing. Malte plays handpan with his trio, and the concert is for anyone who wants a quiet, unhurried room in which to slow down, breathe and listen. It suits those who already use his music for sleep, meditation or focus, and those new to the handpan.

What to Expect

The handpan sits at the centre of the evening. Malte Marten is joined by Conrado Molina on percussion and voice, and by Bummela, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together they make a rich, spacious sound that is meant to feel intimate even in a large room.

The concert runs about two hours and is shaped from beginning to end. The music, the silence between pieces and the stories Malte shares are all part of one flowing experience. There is no pressure and no rush, and nothing is asked of you except to be there. The aim is to bring you out of the noise for a while, so that you leave with a little more space inside.

All venues on the tour are seated. Shows usually start at 8 pm, with doors opening around 75 minutes earlier.

About Malte Marten

Malte Marten is a handpan player at heart, and also a musician, teacher and composer. His path began in 2014, when he saw a video of the duo Hang Massive. He sold all the equipment he owned as a beatmaker and DJ to buy his first handpan, and later played on the streets of Berlin.

From 2015 to 2020 he toured with his former duo, Yatao. Teaching became a passion during those years, and the duo gave workshops and retreats and co-founded the YataoShop, a place for people to take their first steps with the instrument. In 2021 the duo's project ended and Malte began his solo work, funding his first solo studio album through crowdfunding. His videos on Instagram and YouTube have since reached listeners around the world.

His work rests on a simple idea: music can create space, space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself. He has said that what moves him most is hearing that his music has helped people through personal challenges.

The Trio

Conrado Molina plays percussion and also sings. Bummela works as a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Alongside Malte's handpan, their parts are carefully curated to hold the room gently from first note to last.

The Place

Kulturkirken Jakob is a cultural church venue in Oslo, and it is the Norwegian stop on this tour.

Before You Go

No experience with the handpan or with sound healing is needed. The handpan is a steel instrument played with the hands, with a warm, bell-like sound rich in overtones. Child tickets are available for ages 12 and up. Wheelchair spaces can also be arranged in advance through the tour's organisers.
