Surrendering Everything to Krishna: The Path Beyond Control

Acyuta Gopi opens See Through episode 66 with a deceptively simple truth: surrender to Krishna is available to anyone, regardless of circumstance, vocation, or station in life. Yet the obstacle is rarely external. "Usually," Gopi explains, "the only thing that stops us is our own mind that mind tends to get in the way of our surrender and our sacrifice to our beloved dear most Supreme Being."

This framing—that the barrier is internal rather than structural—sets the tone for a deep exploration of what devotional surrender actually means. Over the course of the discussion, Gopi weaves together texts, personal experience from a recent pilgrimage to Vrindavan, and the classical story of Krishna stealing the garments of the unmarried gopis, building a case that true surrender is less about heroic renunciation and more about a shift in relationship to what we think we control.

Surrender as an Offering of Service

Gopi begins by establishing the context: the chapter being studied—"Stealing the Garments of the Unmarried Gopis" from Krishna Book—occurs during Margashirsha, the same month the live stream takes place. This alignment matters. In Gaudiya Vaishnavism, timing and attunement to the seasons and pastimes of Krishna are not ornamental; they are doorways. When we study and contemplate the divine play (lila) during its corresponding season, we enter into a resonance with the transcendent events themselves.

But Gopi's emphasis goes deeper than calendar alignment. He introduces what he calls the "mood of service" (seva bhava) as the foundation of genuine pilgrimage—whether to Vrindavan in body or to the Abode of Vrindavan in heart. "Even if you think I want to enter into Vrindavan in the mood of service, let me read aloud this Krishna book to my friends, that is service to the Holy Dham and to Shri Krishna," Gopi says. This reframes the spiritual journey: surrender is not about obtaining bliss or experience; it is about how you carry yourself in relation to what unfolds.

The nine processes of devotional service—hearing, chanting, remembering, and others—are tools for cultivating this mood. They are not ladder rungs to climb to some distant achievement. Rather, they are modes of presence. When you approach a holy place or sacred practice with the question "How can I serve?" rather than "What will I gain?" the entire quality of the encounter shifts.

When Krishna Takes What We Never Offered

Gopi makes a crucial distinction: "Sometimes we surrender everything to Krishna willingly and sometimes Krishna takes everything against whatever we thought—against all of our previously conceived notions of what we thought we were going to offer." This observation cuts to the heart of the matter. We arrive at spiritual practice with carefully constructed intentions. We decide what we will offer, under what terms, with what timeline. Then Krishna, in his mercy, dismantles the whole apparatus.

Gopi illustrates this from personal experience. His recent journey to Vrindavan was framed as a pilgrimage of seva and prayer. Krishna "fulfilled all three of those goals," Gopi recounts, but not necessarily as anticipated. He discovered that "lots of things are going to go wrong externally, internally; loads of things are going to go wrong." Yet it is precisely here that the mood of service becomes transformative. When externals crumble, if your foundation is "I am here to serve, not to enjoy," you do not collapse.

This teaching echoes throughout the Krishna Book narrative itself. The gopis are engaged in worship of Goddess Durga, praying for Krishna as their husband. They are not asking Krishna to grant them a vision or confirm their devotion; they are performing a specific ritual with a specific goal. Yet Krishna, ever the trickster and supreme lover, intervenes entirely outside their framework. He steals their garments while they bathe in the Yamuna—an act of violation that is, paradoxically, an act of supreme grace.

The Gopis and the Radical Vulnerability of Love

The pastime of Krishna stealing the gopis' garments is notoriously difficult to interpret for modern readers. Gopi addresses the apparent transgression head-on: the gopis were "naked due to remaining in the water" and Krishna demanded they come out unclothed. It is a boundary violation of stunning directness. Yet Gopi emphasizes that this is not about lust, and certainly not about Krishna as predator. Rather, it is Krishna's way of revealing something about the nature of love itself—that true intimacy requires a nakedness that has nothing to do with the body.

The gopis' worship of Durga was conditional: "Please, let Krishna be my husband." It was a petition. But Krishna's act of appearing as the Cowherd Boy who takes everything—their modesty, their clothing, their carefully maintained propriety—strips away the transactional layer. He is saying, without words: "I am already your beloved. This relationship cannot be negotiated or earned. You are already known to me, entirely."

The gopis' response is crucial. They do not flee in shame or rage. They accept the vulnerability. They submit. In that submission, a door opens: they experience Krishna not as a distant husband to be won through ritual, but as the Supreme Being who loves them with a knowledge so complete that all ordinary notions of modesty become irrelevant. "If I didn't have Shri Prabodhananda," Gopi notes, referencing the Gaudiya commentator who deeply appreciated this pastime, "if I didn't have these teachings... I might not have understood the depth."

Surrender Beyond Circumstance

Gopi returns repeatedly to a central theme: surrender is available to anyone because it is not about circumstances. A person might worry: "I have a job. I have obligations. I am not a renunciate living in an ashram. How can I surrender everything to Krishna?" But Gopi's teaching is that "there is nothing absolutely nothing stopping you from surrendering your whole heart and everything that you are to Krishna." The outer form changes. The inner orientation does not have to.

This teaching is grounded in a sophisticated understanding of what surrender actually is. It is not location-based. A Tulsi plant at home is Vrindavan. A picture of Tulsi is Vrindavan. The Abode of Vrindavan is not merely a geographical location; "it is always present within the mind and within the heart." When you read Krishna Book, when you chant the names, when you approach any action with the mood "I am here to serve the Lord and his devotees," you have entered Vrindavan.

This is radical democratization of spiritual access. You do not need permission, money, or exceptional circumstances. You need only to shift the frame from "What can I gain?" to "How can I serve?" and from "I will control the terms of my offering" to "I surrender my ideas about how this should go."

The Mercy of a Disrupted Plan

There is a gentle humor in Gopi's recount of his own experience. He arrived in Vrindavan with a plan to pray and serve. Krishna, in response, disrupted the plan—not with punishment, but with grace taking the form of circumstances that forced him to release his attachment to the original design. "Be careful what you wish for," Gopi says, with affection rather than warning. Krishna grants all three: service, prayer, and surrender. But surrender often looks like the dissolution of what we thought surrender would be.

This is the deepest teaching of the episode. Surrender is not a technique to be mastered. It is a gesture of trust offered repeatedly, in real time, to a force of reality and grace that is far larger than our comprehension. It is the willingness to have your plans disrupted, your ego deflated, your carefully constructed notions of "how this should go" revealed as small. And in that deflation lies liberation.

Where to go from here

For those wanting to engage more deeply with these teachings, explore the Gaudiya Vaishnava commentaries on Krishna Book, particularly the work of Srila Prabhupada. Consider studying the nine processes of devotional service—not as ladder rungs but as different doors into the same room of intimate relationship with the Divine. Most practically: identify one action in your daily life, and ask yourself whether you approach it from the mood "What will this give me?" or "How can I serve through this?" Notice the difference. Then return to that question tomorrow, and the day after. Surrender is not achieved; it is cultivated through repetition, failure, and the mercy of a Krishna who loves us enough to take away everything we thought we were offering.

[0:05] welcome har Krishna this is

[0:08] seethrough it is a podcast with myself a

[0:49] strength so let's see um just making

[0:53] sure that everything is

[0:56] working there there used to be a section

[1:00] where you you could send in comments now

[1:01] it's saying that comments are not

[1:03] supported on private videos this been a

[1:05] very interesting day um when I first

[1:07] started to go live it says um you do not

[1:09] have permission to go live I was like

[1:10] actually the only one with permission to

[1:12] go live on this channel it's my channel

[1:16] um and then I had to go and reboot and

[1:17] do all the things and so

[1:20] now just trying to make sure that uh we

[1:24] are

[1:25] able to go live and that we're able to

[1:30] have

[1:32] comments my question is why does this

[1:34] look like this is a private video and it

[1:35] should not

[1:37] be um so if if you're there and you're

[1:41] able to

[1:43] comment pleas please let me know um and

[1:47] if you're not able to comment also

[1:49] please let me know because I'd like to

[1:51] I'd like to figure that

[1:56] out and hopefully

[1:59] hopefully

[2:02] everyone will be there let's

[2:04] [Music]

[2:06] see aha now I see the chat okay

[2:10] wonderful

[2:12] um wonderful yes looks like everybody's

[2:16] here so welcome once again thank you for

[2:20] being here my name is autopi if you are

[2:22] new um welcome for the first time if you

[2:25] are a regular viewer which I do see some

[2:28] of you here thank you for being

[2:30] here um we also have a zoom room through

[2:35] patreon so if you are not a part of

[2:37] patreon and you would like to be a part

[2:39] of patreon to get access to the zoom

[2:41] room please you know write me in a

[2:43] comment after and we'll put the the

[2:45] patreon link in the description box but

[2:49] thank you for bearing with me and for

[2:50] being here with me and for staying with

[2:53] us through all the hiccups and and such

[2:55] and such the last time we were together

[2:59] um

[3:00] I was on my way to vavan to spend the

[3:04] last few days of ktic in in the

[3:08] beautiful wonderful playground of Sri

[3:10] Krishna known as

[3:12] reavan and so now it's been few weeks

[3:15] after that and I am back with all kinds

[3:20] of maybe realizations and Adventures to

[3:23] share um but I wanted to share them

[3:26] under the under the offices and under

[3:30] the headline of surrendering everything

[3:32] to

[3:33] Krishna and I wanted to get back into

[3:36] reading Krishna book which which is what

[3:38] we were doing

[3:39] before um I took this trip and before

[3:42] all of the festival season even during

[3:45] Goan Puja we spent several weeks um and

[3:49] several

[3:50] days really contemplating the Pastime of

[3:53] Goan Puja and so we skipped ahead a

[3:56] little bit within Krishna book from

[3:57] where we were in order to read the

[4:00] Pastime of Goan Puja during the festival

[4:03] time so now we're going to backtrack um

[4:05] which is really nice because we are

[4:07] still exactly in the time frame that we

[4:10] need to be

[4:11] in so the chapter that we're going to be

[4:13] reading

[4:14] today is chapter 22 from Krishna book

[4:17] which is stealing the garments of the

[4:20] unmarried gopy

[4:22] girls um this works

[4:24] because this happens in the month of

[4:26] marasa which is what we are in right now

[4:30] so there are many things that happen

[4:31] during this month and we'll talk about

[4:32] them in just a moment but I really want

[4:36] to impress upon us all the the theme of

[4:40] today's see-through topic which is

[4:43] surrendering everything to Krishna and

[4:45] just looking at how everyone from all

[4:49] walks and any walks of life can

[4:52] surrender everything to Krishna no

[4:55] matter who you are no matter what job

[4:57] you have no matter where you are no

[4:59] matter any of these things you can

[5:02] surrender everything to Krishna there is

[5:05] nothing absolutely nothing stopping you

[5:08] from surrendering your whole heart and

[5:10] everything that you are to Krishna

[5:12] usually um the only thing that stops US

[5:14] is our own

[5:16] mind that mind tends to get in the way

[5:19] of of our surrender and our sacrifice to

[5:23] our beloved dear most Supreme

[5:25] Bes so without further

[6:44] so I was reading and kind of flipping

[6:48] through the book uh

[6:50] Mah written by

[6:53] sharti and I was thinking about

[6:57] reavan and I was thinking about all all

[7:00] of the best things that are in Rovan and

[7:01] I

[7:02] thought in the in the in the mood and

[7:04] the style of indrum mahaj why don't we

[7:07] begin with a prayer to

[7:10] shavam from VAV

[7:15] mahita having retired from all my duties

[7:20] and being freed from all

[7:22] expectations when will I enter the Abode

[7:25] of Shri davan alone and pass my days

[7:28] discussing topics of Krishna the Lord of

[7:31] reaven and the topics of Shri Radha the

[7:34] goddess of

[7:37] reaven oh shame on me even though I am

[7:40] desirous to serve the Lotus feet of Shri

[7:43] vavan Chandra even though I have heard

[7:45] the statements of the great

[7:47] personalities and even though I have

[7:49] realized that all material objects are

[7:52] meant to ruin my

[7:54] self-interest I am unable to take

[7:56] shelter of Shri

[7:57] Ravin oh mother renav

[8:01] I have seen if I have seen you even once

[8:03] in my life if I have uttered the names

[8:06] of shishir Radha and Krishna even once

[8:09] in my life and if I have respectfully

[8:12] offered obeisances to those who have

[8:14] surrendered unto you then I am confident

[8:17] that you will certainly not neglect

[8:24] me all glories to the Abode of shavan

[8:27] which can give us all perfection

[8:30] and which can give us all

[8:37] Protection One day um we will enter into

[8:42] this land of reavan alone and pass our

[8:44] days discussing the topics of shha goind

[8:50] sh and you know I was just

[8:53] speaking with my dear friend Leela on on

[8:57] the the zoom portion right before this

[9:00] this live stream we were just kind of

[9:02] discussing

[9:03] that we can sometimes have it in our

[9:06] minds that we are entering into the

[9:07] Abode of bavan the geographical lo

[9:10] location like the actual the B of bav

[9:13] the physical location the place on the

[9:14] earth

[9:16] however the abod of vavan is always

[9:18] present within the mind and within the

[9:20] heart and so when we dive into these

[9:23] topics of Krishna Kata when we dive into

[9:25] Krishna book we are entering into the

[9:27] land of

[9:28] ravan um it is said in so many different

[9:31] places and Chu appreciating shav so many

[9:34] different places that if there is a

[9:38] Tulsi

[9:39] plant where the soil of the Tulsi meets

[9:42] the very branch of Tulsi Davy there is

[9:47] vavin so if you have a Tulsa plant at

[9:50] home there is vavin if you have a

[9:54] picture of Tulsi at home there is

[9:57] fraven it still counts she still accepts

[10:00] all of your

[10:02] worship um so today it's about

[10:05] surrendering everything to

[10:07] Krishna sometimes we surrender

[10:09] everything to Krishna

[10:11] willingly and sometimes Krishna takes

[10:16] everything um against whatever we

[10:19] thought you know against all of

[10:21] our previously conceived the Notions of

[10:25] what we thought we were going to offer

[10:27] of what we thought how surrender would

[10:29] is going to go any of these things

[10:31] Krishna decides I'm taking it you've

[10:34] called me I'm

[10:37] taking um I kind of feel as

[10:40] though I experienced this a little bit

[10:44] uh in

[10:45] ravan both a little bit and a lot of

[10:48] bit be be careful what you wish

[10:51] for um I had resolved that this last

[10:56] trip was going to be one of sa one of

[10:58] Prayer and one of surrender

[11:02] and Krishna fulfilled all three of those

[11:05] goals um it was a trip of

[11:09] sa and that is the best thing you can

[11:12] ever

[11:13] do if you ever think about going into

[11:17] the holy D even in your

[11:20] mind if you go within with a mood of I

[11:23] just want to do some

[11:25] sa you know there are nine processes of

[11:28] devotional service

[11:30] so hearing chanting remembering these

[11:32] are devotional

[11:34] services so even if you think I want to

[11:38] enter into reavan in the mood of service

[11:40] let me read aloud this Krishna book to

[11:42] my friends that is service to the holy D

[11:46] and to Shri

[11:48] Krishna so it is one of the best ways to

[11:51] get the mercy of the Holy D is to enter

[11:53] with a mood of service because then

[11:55] you're not just thinking you know what I

[11:57] want to enjoy all the things that are

[11:58] around here

[12:00] because I guarantee you lots of things

[12:01] are going to go

[12:02] wrong externally internally loads of

[12:05] things are going to go wrong um but when

[12:07] we are in the mood of look I don't know

[12:09] this wasn't for me I'm just here to

[12:11] serve it's so much easier to take all of

[12:13] the things that are inevitably going to

[12:15] go

[12:16] wrong um and then when we enter with a

[12:20] mood of surrender okay Lord I'm just

[12:23] following you you do what you do and I

[12:26] am just following close behind

[12:30] calling after you following the sound of

[12:32] your flute following the glimpse of that

[12:35] little peacock

[12:36] feather following your beautiful golden

[12:39] chutar as it as it as it flows behind

[12:41] you thinking oh wait there's my

[12:44] Krishna if I can just

[12:47] follow so this is kind of the mood of

[12:50] surrender and I was thinking you know

[12:52] what Lord do what you want I I had a

[12:56] conversation with my Lord nityananda

[12:58] have a beautiful deity of n it's very

[13:00] cute very handsome I had a conversation

[13:03] with him and I thought n you're in

[13:06] charge I am simply going wherever you

[13:09] want me to go so please Guide Me Guide

[13:12] this trip guide

[13:13] everything and um as many of you know I

[13:18] I went to a beautiful Temple of of

[13:21] daji with an incredible deity of daji he

[13:24] is s and a2t

[13:26] Tall um I'm going to say that again 7

[13:30] and A2 ft tall feet tall he's very

[13:36] big uh he's quite Majestic the bujari

[13:40] was saying that the way this deity of

[13:42] daji is is

[13:44] made um he looks closest to what balaram

[13:48] would have looked like very tall very

[13:51] Majestic very stately and and and stout

[13:55] you know he's he's he's a thick

[13:58] deity and he was commissioned by the

[14:01] great grandson of Shri Krishna

[14:03] VAB and as I was there we did a a big

[14:09] mahaan and when we came out from that

[14:12] Maha

[14:14] Kiran everybody that I was with and

[14:16] there was maybe 10 12 15 of us that were

[14:19] there there together everyone there

[14:21] together they came out they got their

[14:23] shoes and then I looked and mine were

[14:25] gone I said

[14:27] do okay okay

[14:30] sure and so I surrendered that pair and

[14:34] I happen to have gone to ravan with yet

[14:36] another pair had a backup pair of shoes

[14:39] because you know that's what you do you

[14:41] bring a backup pair so I bought a backup

[14:44] pair

[14:45] um and I was wearing those the next few

[14:48] days and then somehow or other just a

[14:51] few days later maybe two three days

[14:53] later I went to

[14:55] nandong the very childhood home of Shri

[14:58] Krishna Nandan

[14:59] and we did Kon and when I got to nandong

[15:03] I hid my shoes under one of my friend's

[15:07] shoes and around two other people's

[15:11] pairs of shoes um kind of not together

[15:14] just hid them

[15:16] around and when we came back from that

[15:19] very

[15:21] Kon my friend shoes that were on top of

[15:23] my shoes were still there the two other

[15:26] people's shoes were there mine were

[15:28] missing

[15:29] just mine um and so I kind of realized

[15:33] this is something intentional that

[15:35] Krishna is doing and specifically I I

[15:38] really kind of thought I was like

[15:39] DOI once again whenever I go and see you

[15:44] you know Krishna is one thing but

[15:45] whenever I went to go see balaram when

[15:48] he was there he decided no no I I am

[15:53] taking these

[15:55] shoes um but but what is it when when

[15:59] when our shoes are gone um vially we

[16:02] understand

[16:03] that by our feet is held so much

[16:06] Karma lifetimes of karma which is why

[16:11] when you touch someone's feet it is a

[16:13] very uh intense

[16:16] business it's it's not just oh yeah

[16:19] there's something that we do um there's

[16:21] actually a karmic exchange between you

[16:24] and the person whose feet you've touched

[16:27] um you have given them

[16:29] all of your Bad

[16:31] Karma and they have received it somehow

[16:34] or other and so many of our gurus and

[16:37] spiritual teachers you will see they

[16:40] often are very sick because they are

[16:43] constantly uh on the receiving end of so

[16:45] many people's Karma so be very careful

[16:49] um because yes it is a way of showing

[16:52] respect But please understand the

[16:54] gravity of what you are doing you are

[16:56] now giving

[16:57] somebody all of your your your negative

[17:02] Karma and these Saints and Pious people

[17:05] are

[17:06] so benevolent that they allow you to

[17:09] keep your good

[17:10] karma um they allow you to even take a

[17:13] portion of their Good

[17:14] Karma but they simply take all of the

[17:17] Bad

[17:18] Karma so please be careful um it it's

[17:21] not just like a fun thing to do like oh

[17:24] you know even even with babies we see it

[17:26] you know because they're so close to

[17:28] Krishna

[17:29] we we often think yes um but also there

[17:32] there is a little bit of a of a karmic

[17:35] exchange so please be

[17:39] mindful of each other um because this is

[17:42] the meaning of s s means that you know

[17:45] we don't just come together to take and

[17:46] take and get and get but now we become

[17:49] mindful of one another we become mindful

[17:52] of taking care of one another we become

[17:54] mindful of what we are sharing with one

[17:56] another we become mindful of what we are

[17:58] dumping on on to one

[18:00] another um so if you are any of those

[18:02] friends where you know you've become

[18:04] such a safe space that so many people

[18:06] come and they want to like offload all

[18:08] of the things but then we have to become

[18:10] mindful as a sa are we also enriching

[18:14] the lives of those close to us or have

[18:16] we simply come to dump um because even

[18:19] the sacred

[18:20] Rivers get a little burnt out even the

[18:24] sacred Rivers get a little tired and

[18:25] then they have to go to RAB and they

[18:27] journey to Pavan

[18:29] s and they they say let us cleanse

[18:32] ourselves of all of these

[18:34] burdens that they are so

[18:36] merciful that they are willing to take

[18:38] on all of these sacrifices just to

[18:40] please the Supreme

[18:43] Lord these great

[18:45] Souls even even entering into the ocean

[18:49] of sacred literatures like shrimat

[18:51] bhagavatam like Krishna book this

[18:54] cleanses us it is like taking a bath in

[18:57] any and all of the Sacred Rivers at once

[19:01] how incredibly merciful how incredibly

[19:03] merciful was shupad willing to take on

[19:07] any and all

[19:09] difficulties willing to accept all of

[19:11] the karma willing to accept it all and

[19:14] beg for more time from the Supreme Lord

[19:16] not for

[19:17] himself but because he believed that

[19:21] this message of Krishna Consciousness

[19:22] should go everywhere throughout the

[19:24] world and he believed that people would

[19:27] take it and he believed that there would

[19:29] be pure devotees that would Bloom forth

[19:34] from understanding this

[19:36] knowledge sh prad had that faith that

[19:40] somewhere there's at least one person

[19:42] who will be a pure devote who will take

[19:44] this Krishna Consciousness and will take

[19:46] it to its fullest

[19:48] potential he absolutely believed in the

[19:51] potential of every single one of

[19:56] us all glories to the revealer of

[20:00] shav as IND mahaj

[20:03] says it is said that we should enter

[20:05] into the mood of ravan following a brid

[20:08] Basi and so many people would ask sh

[20:10] prad which brid Basi should we follow

[20:13] and Sh prad I am that brid

[20:15] Basi we we have a BRI Basi that we can

[20:18] follow in the mood of sh prad gave us

[20:23] everything and we might think that he

[20:26] held back but the more that we dive into

[20:29] the teachings of Shila prad will'll see

[20:32] that he didn't hold anything back his

[20:34] Holiness Shila ginda Maharaj my family

[20:37] Guru would often say that there are so

[20:39] many mine there's a jewel mine in the

[20:42] bottom of the ocean of shap prad's

[20:44] teachings just like there are jewels in

[20:46] the bottom bottom of the O ocean but if

[20:49] you stay on the surface all you find is

[20:50] seashells you have to dive deeper and

[20:53] deeper down to the very bottom to find

[20:55] the Priceless jewels that are that are

[20:57] only heard

[21:00] about so with that said um we'll dive

[21:03] into chapter

[21:04] 22 of Krishna book this is stealing the

[21:08] garments of the unmarried gopy

[21:12] [Music]

[21:25] [Music]

[21:27] girls according to vidc civilization

[21:31] unmarried girls from 10 to 14 years of

[21:33] age are supposed to worship either Lord

[21:35] Shiva or goddess Durga in order to get a

[21:38] nice husband but the unmarried girls of

[21:41] reavan were already attracted by the

[21:43] beauty of Krishna they were however

[21:46] engaged in the worship of goddess Durga

[21:48] in the beginning of the heymont Season

[21:50] just prior to the winter season the

[21:53] first month of hey month

[21:54] is aayana October November and at that

[21:58] time time all the unmarried gopies of

[22:00] reavan began to worship goddess DGA with

[22:02] a vow they first ate

[22:06] Havana a kind of food prepared by

[22:08] boiling together mungall and rice

[22:10] without any spices or turmeric wo um

[22:14] it's very

[22:17] intense so they were eating unspicy

[22:20] according to VC injunction this kind of

[22:22] food is recommended to purify the body

[22:25] before one enacts a ritualistic ceremony

[22:28] all all the unmarried gopies in vavin

[22:30] used to daily worship goddess katani

[22:33] early in the morning after taking a bath

[22:34] in the river jamuna katani is another

[22:37] name for goddess Durga the goddess is

[22:40] worshiped by preparing a doll made of

[22:42] sand from the bank of the jamuna it is

[22:44] recommended in the viic scriptures that

[22:46] a deity be made from different kinds of

[22:48] material elements it can be painted so a

[22:52] picture made of metal made of jewels

[22:55] made of wood Earth or stone or can be

[22:59] conceived within the heart of the

[23:02] worshipper I like those kinds um because

[23:06] they don't depend on any artistic

[23:09] abilities uh they don't depend on any

[23:12] monetary

[23:13] values you can concentrate the heart on

[23:16] the form of your most worshipable deity

[23:20] at any time at any

[23:23] place the mayavati philosopher takes all

[23:25] these forms of the deity to be imaginary

[23:28] but actually they are accepted in the

[23:30] viic literatures to be identical with

[23:32] either the Supreme Lord or a respective

[23:35] demigod the unmarried gopies used to

[23:37] prepare the deity of goddess Dura and

[23:40] worship it with chandan pulp garlands

[23:43] incense lamps and all kinds of

[23:46] presentations fruits grain and twigs of

[23:49] plants after worshiping it is customary

[23:52] to pray for some benediction the

[23:54] unmarried girls used to pray with great

[23:56] Devotion to goddess katani addressing

[23:59] her as follows the Sanskrit of this

[24:02] prayer

[24:08] [Music]

[24:17] is oh Supreme external energy of the

[24:21] personality of godhead oh Supreme Mystic

[24:24] power oh Supreme controller of this

[24:27] material world oh goddess please be kind

[24:31] to us and arrange for our marriage with

[24:33] the son of nand Maharaj

[24:35] Krishna the vaishnavas generally do not

[24:38] worship any demigods sharam Das takur

[24:41] has strictly forbidden all worship of

[24:42] the demigods for anyone who wants to

[24:45] advance in pure devotional

[24:46] service yet the gopies who are Beyond

[24:49] Compare in their affection for Krishna

[24:52] were seen to worship

[24:53] Dura

[24:55] so you know we we see this

[24:58] admonition this admonishment from our

[25:01] previous aaras that you need to give up

[25:05] all other uh ideas of worship and simply

[25:09] surrender unto Shri Krishna and we can

[25:12] we can view it as a little bit strong

[25:14] especially if we've grown up or been

[25:17] around so many different cultures um

[25:20] that have as a very important

[25:25] culturalism goods sometimes we can get a

[25:29] little bit

[25:31] antagonistic as as vavas and we

[25:33] definitely shouldn't do that we should

[25:35] not

[25:37] um give up this kind of worship to the

[25:41] point of becoming disrespectful we

[25:43] should respect all of the demigods but

[25:47] sometimes you know we think why would

[25:49] nastor say this why should the propad

[25:51] saying this why would so many of our

[25:53] aaras or spiritual teachers say this um

[25:57] actually to properly perform the worship

[25:59] of any of these demig Gods is incredibly

[26:02] difficult it takes a great amount of

[26:03] wealth it takes a lot of uh rules and

[26:07] regulations it takes a lot of perfect

[26:10] Sanskrit pronunciation chanting which

[26:13] very very very very very few people can

[26:15] do today um it takes so much and if you

[26:20] do something

[26:21] wrong the

[26:23] consequences wind up being very

[26:26] severe however

[26:29] um thanks to the chanting of the Holy

[26:30] Name we can honor and respect everyone

[26:36] all of the demigods

[26:38] included and it will be stated later on

[26:41] that you know by watering the root of

[26:43] the tree every single part of the tree

[26:45] is nourished and satisfied and so with

[26:48] the chanting of the holy name every

[26:51] every wiu every ceremony can be made

[26:54] perfect so sometimes we'll see family

[26:56] members will say nope you know you must

[26:59] observe such a ritual such a such a

[27:01] tradition you must observe these things

[27:03] for the good of the

[27:04] family okay absolutely how do you

[27:07] reconcile both those things um you can

[27:10] do what you do for the sake of the

[27:11] family and chant har Krishna and in this

[27:14] way we can pray with all our hearts to

[27:17] these various personalities because they

[27:20] are personalities Indra Vu Agni sua

[27:25] these are

[27:27] personalities we can pray to them all

[27:30] goddess katani you are the internal

[27:33] potency of the Supreme personality of

[27:35] godhead oh my dearest goddess who better

[27:40] to help us get introduced to Krishna

[27:42] than you she is seeing his own

[27:46] sister I know you know you have you ever

[27:49] um seen somebody in a relationship and

[27:53] that the person that they're in the

[27:54] relationship with has a sibling

[27:56] everybody tries to get close cl to The

[27:58] Sibling right everybody tries to get

[28:01] close to the sibling to get close to the

[28:03] person that they're in the relationship

[28:04] with because they know if you getting

[28:06] good with the sibling somehow or other

[28:08] they'll speak up for you they will take

[28:10] up for you they will make sure that

[28:12] everything goes right in your

[28:13] relationship if things are going

[28:14] sideways then the The Sibling usually is

[28:16] like oh well they're not that bad I love

[28:18] them you know everybody wants to get

[28:20] close to the sibling so in this way we

[28:23] should all be wanting to get very close

[28:25] to subadra DVI we should all be wanting

[28:28] to get close to KI to dur

[28:33] toi Who is the very sister of the

[28:36] Supreme personality of

[28:38] godhead um and so if we are really

[28:42] trying to gain any kind of relationship

[28:44] with the Supreme person we can G we can

[28:47] gain an entrance to getting close to all

[28:49] of these personalities even through the

[28:50] chanting of the Holy Name we can let

[28:53] them know I may not be able to do

[28:56] anything perfectly

[28:58] in fact I probably cannot do anything

[29:02] perfectly but I can concentrate on you

[29:05] and with your mercy I Can chant the holy

[29:07] name and I can pray that you will be

[29:09] pleased by my chanting of the Holy

[29:12] Name my gurus my spiritual teachers have

[29:15] given me this Holy Name Hur Krishna Hur

[29:18] Krishna Krishna Krishna Hur Hur h

[29:24] h h Hur and they have told me this

[29:28] mahamantra can do anything it can do

[29:31] everything it can fulfill any desire it

[29:34] is the best of the forms of worship and

[29:38] so please accept my chanting of this har

[29:41] Krishna mahamantra it's all I've got

[29:44] it's all I've

[29:46] got so as we go through

[29:49] shatam because this prayer to is present

[29:53] within shrimad bhagavatam you can recite

[29:55] this prayer it is such a simple prayer

[29:58] and then we can chant the holy name

[30:00] because by the chanting of the Holy Name

[30:02] it makes everything perfect we can pray

[30:05] to regain her

[30:06] favor and she can somehow make all of

[30:09] our wildest dreams come

[30:15] true

[30:17] so the worshippers of demigod sometimes

[30:20] mention that the gopies woried goddess

[30:22] Durga but we must understand the purpose

[30:24] of the gopies generally people were

[30:27] worship goddess DGA for some material

[30:30] benediction here the gopies prayed to

[30:32] the goddess to become wives of Lord

[30:34] Krishna the purport is that if Krishna

[30:37] is the center of activity a devote can

[30:39] adopt any means to achieve that goal the

[30:42] gopies could adopt any means to satisfy

[30:44] or serve Krishna that was the Super

[30:47] excellent characteristic of the gopies

[30:49] they woried goddess Dura completely for

[30:51] one month in order to have Krishna as

[30:53] their husband every day they prayed for

[30:56] Krishna the son of nand Maharaj to

[30:58] become their husband early in the

[31:00] morning the gopies used to go to the

[31:02] bank of the of the Jima to take a bath

[31:04] they would assemble together and holding

[31:06] one another's hands loudly sing of the

[31:09] wonderful pastimes of Krishna it is an

[31:11] old system among Indian girls and women

[31:14] that when they take a bath in the river

[31:16] they Place their garments on the bank

[31:18] and dip into the water completely naked

[31:20] the portion of the river where the girls

[31:22] and women bathe was strictly prohibited

[31:24] to any male and this is still the system

[31:27] the Sue personality of godhead knowing

[31:29] the minds of the unmarried young gopies

[31:32] blessed them with their desired

[31:34] objective they had prayed for Krishna to

[31:36] become their husband and Krishna wanted

[31:38] to fulfill their

[31:39] desires at the end of the month Krishna

[31:42] along with his friends appeared on the

[31:44] scene another name of Krishna is

[31:47] yogeshwar or master of all Mystic Powers

[31:51] by practicing meditation the yogi can

[31:53] study the psychic movement of other men

[31:55] and certainly Krishna could understand

[31:57] the Des desire of the gopies appearing

[31:59] on the scene Krishna immediately

[32:02] collected all the garments of the gopies

[32:04] climbed up into a nearby tree and with a

[32:07] smiling face began to speak to them my

[32:10] dear girls he said please come here one

[32:14] after another and pray for your garments

[32:16] and then take them away I'm not joking

[32:19] with you I'm just telling the truth I

[32:21] have no desire to play any joke with you

[32:23] for you are tired from observing the

[32:25] regulative principles for one month by

[32:27] worshiping goddess kayani please do not

[32:30] come here all at once come alone I want

[32:34] to see each of you in your complete

[32:35] Beauty for all of you have thin waists I

[32:39] have requested you to come alone now

[32:41] please

[32:43] comply H interesting

[32:46] [Music]

[32:48] um the the the thought here is when we

[32:52] pray for

[32:54] surrender and then Krishna does what

[32:57] Krishna does and he takes all of the

[32:59] things in an ultimate show of

[33:02] surrender can we view can we view it in

[33:06] that Krishna is actually giving us what

[33:08] we prayed

[33:11] for we are chanting the Holy Name which

[33:14] is a call of

[33:16] surrender we are praying to surrender

[33:19] everything that we

[33:20] are into krishna's Divine will saying oh

[33:24] my Lord I no longer know what is best

[33:26] for me I want to follow your Divine will

[33:30] please show me

[33:32] yourself but in order to give us

[33:35] himself Krishna has to take away all the

[33:37] things that we think we hold

[33:40] dear um after losing two pair of shoes

[33:43] in veran I was kind of thinking Dai what

[33:47] is it that you

[33:48] want and I realized it doesn't want

[33:51] anything he was simply fulfilling my

[33:54] desire My Desire when I went into vavin

[33:57] was in a mood of surrender I want

[33:59] whatever you want DOI I want whatever

[34:02] you want

[34:04] Krishna and all of that karma from this

[34:10] lifetime and any previous ones was

[34:14] gone my Google photos was showing me

[34:17] memories from seven years ago and I was

[34:20] thinking every seven

[34:21] years you are basically in essence

[34:25] biologically a completely new person

[34:28] everything that you thought you were

[34:30] everything that you once were was

[34:34] gone it is a new era for all of us so

[34:38] when I was looking back at those

[34:39] memories from seven years ago I was

[34:41] thinking that person is now

[34:43] gone that person was sacrificed during

[34:46] Kik in reavan this is a new version of

[34:52] aopi and now the possibilities are

[34:56] endless what will I do with this new

[34:58] version of myself what will we do with

[35:01] this new version of ourselves we have

[35:03] passed this month of Kik we've passed

[35:07] into a new kind of a new year a new era

[35:10] you know so many people view devali as a

[35:13] new

[35:15] year after cik you know there is such a

[35:18] downtime of

[35:20] rest um the festivals start to taper off

[35:24] until the new year comes what will we do

[35:28] with this new version of ourselves as we

[35:30] are in a little bit of a hibernation

[35:32] mode we have the ability to ask

[35:35] ourselves now that we have surrendered

[35:38] and we are seeing the effects of that

[35:40] surrender in so many different

[35:42] ways you know some of us think oh my God

[35:45] I I went through this cartic praying for

[35:47] krishna's mercy and it seems like he's

[35:49] taking everything away he's not he's

[35:52] clearing out

[35:53] space he is clearing out space for new

[35:56] blessings

[35:57] I promise you that not only do I promise

[36:01] but Lord Brahma himself

[36:03] promises he is clearing out the way for

[36:06] all kinds of new

[36:09] benedictions um within the prayers of

[36:12] Lord Brahma within the 10th Kanto of

[36:14] shrimat

[36:16] bhagavatam this is chapter

[36:19] 14 and

[36:25] ha it is

[36:32] I'm going because Lord Brahma has a lot

[36:35] to say in in the in the in the 14th

[36:39] chapter of Kanto 10 um Lord Brahma has

[36:43] committed such a Folly he has kind of

[36:46] well not kind of he definitely stole the

[36:48] boys and cows um from Shri Krishna and

[36:53] actually it's kind of important that

[36:55] that we bring this up now

[36:57] uh

[36:59] because all of the the gopies were

[37:02] observing this vow to to have Krishna as

[37:05] their husband and it is stated that even

[37:08] Rani even though Rani has no need to

[37:14] perform such austerities she was

[37:16] performing these austerities just to

[37:18] become close to

[37:20] Krishna um and so when I was

[37:24] thinking about K which comes right after

[37:28] cik you know sometimes people are like

[37:30] oh my gosh um and as a as a young person

[37:33] growing up I would often observe Kay and

[37:36] I was thinking about all of the

[37:39] different times in my life when when I

[37:40] observed it I was

[37:41] thinking now at this new version of

[37:44] myself what do I want to focus on and I

[37:47] was thinking shimatani is constantly

[37:50] obsessed with just somehow getting

[37:53] closer and closer to

[37:55] Krishna that's it

[37:57] she just wants to get closer and closer

[37:59] to

[38:01] Krishna and in this mood she observes

[38:06] this FR again and

[38:08] again

[38:10] [Music]

[38:12] and does does it actually come true the

[38:15] answer is yes because

[38:18] um during the time when Lord Brahma

[38:21] steals all of the boys and the the

[38:23] calves from Shri Krishna Shri Krishna

[38:26] thinks I cannot go home without them and

[38:28] so what does he do he expands himself as

[38:30] all of the boys in the Cals for one

[38:32] whole year and I know we've spoken about

[38:34] this on see through

[38:35] before um but you know it's a wonderful

[38:37] recap for all of us who are new to this

[38:39] to this podcast um and so when Krishna

[38:43] expands for that full year yoga Maya DVI

[38:46] this internal potency of Sri Krishna the

[38:49] very potency that we are speaking of who

[38:51] is the same as

[38:52] kayi she inspires all of the leaders of

[38:57] the gopas all of the coward men of

[39:00] reavan that now you should get your

[39:03] daughters married to very eligible

[39:05] members of the of the gopa community you

[39:08] get them married to other gopas um but

[39:11] it just so happened that all of these

[39:12] other gopas were actually Krishna

[39:14] because he had expanded himself during

[39:16] that time so these prayers do not ever

[39:19] ever ever go in

[39:21] vain

[39:23] Krishna

[39:25] is within the the Pastime of shaki gopal

[39:29] in prad states that Krishna must make a

[39:34] situation whereby everyone is satisfied

[39:37] and

[39:38] happy so sometimes um even though we

[39:42] might think

[39:44] uh how how is Krishna supposed to

[39:48] supposed to make all of this

[39:51] possible somehow or

[39:53] other Krishna makes a situation whereby

[39:56] everyone is pleased least he must jiller

[39:59] prud says so when we think about it and

[40:02] we think as though you know okay I tried

[40:04] to do the surrender and now Krishna is

[40:07] ripping everything away from me that I

[40:09] know and I love um we can we can

[40:13] meditate on verse

[40:16] 8 from shatam so

[40:21] 1048 good Brahma says my dear Lord one

[40:25] who earnestly Waits for you to bestow

[40:28] your causeless mercy upon him all the

[40:31] while patiently suffering the reactions

[40:33] of his past misdeeds and offering you

[40:36] respectful obeisances within his heart

[40:39] words and body is surely eligible for

[40:42] Liberation for it has become his

[40:45] rightful

[40:47] claim so even though we might

[40:51] think I was just minding my own business

[40:53] and then Krishna took everything away

[40:55] from me yes

[40:57] we are simply suffering the past

[41:00] reactions of our of our

[41:03] misdeeds and all we have to do is keep

[41:06] the faith that krishna's Mercy is

[41:09] coming that is a childlike

[41:12] Faith um children if you promise them

[41:15] something they will keep the faith that

[41:17] it is

[41:18] coming my parent promised me so it must

[41:21] be true so many times Krishna has said

[41:24] no my mother has said so it must be true

[41:28] whatever mother Yeshua says Krishna says

[41:29] must be

[41:31] true so in this same way we can focus on

[41:35] what Lord Brahma has told us on what sha

[41:37] prad has told us and think we should

[41:40] know with absolute certainty it must be

[41:43] true so if Krishna has taken from us

[41:45] this carti His blessings must be

[41:49] coming it must be

[41:51] true and I'm a little excited to see

[41:54] what those blessings will be for all of

[41:55] us

[41:57] I am excited to see the blessings that

[41:59] will enter into your life

[42:01] miraculously they are

[42:03] coming and I know because you know as

[42:07] Krishna says declare it boldly Arjuna

[42:09] that my devote is never

[42:11] vanquished now Krishna somehow or other

[42:14] my Lord I Am redeclaring Lord brahma's

[42:17] words boldly we are waiting on your

[42:20] mercy constantly offering obeisance to

[42:23] you from within our hearts our minds our

[42:26] words

[42:28] now your caess mercy must be coming upon

[42:30] us it must be true because the

[42:34] statements of your devotees can never be

[42:36] proven false

[42:38] never the statements of the devotees of

[42:41] the Lord are

[42:42] infallible as infallible as our

[42:44] infallible Lord himself our Lord who is

[42:46] known as auta

[42:49] infallible they must be made

[42:52] infallible so I know and I am praying

[42:56] for every single one of you watching

[42:58] this this podcast either

[43:01] live or in in the replay I am absolutely

[43:05] praying that this statement is

[43:08] absolutely true for you and that not a

[43:10] day goes by from this moment where you

[43:13] do not see the Miracles and the

[43:15] blessings of Shri Krishna entering your

[43:17] life our Lord may have taken from you

[43:20] but he is only clearing out space so

[43:23] that he can shower you with unending

[43:25] Unlimited

[43:27] blessings he is making room for his

[43:30] Mercy in your

[43:31] life he is not taken from you he's

[43:34] making room for his Mercy in your life I

[43:37] promise and I pray that we all have a

[43:39] chance to see

[43:41] it through the tears through the

[43:44] heartache through the stinging of of

[43:47] going through that tapasa tapasia means

[43:49] heat tapa is heat it

[43:53] burns trust me I know I felt it

[43:57] this card I felt it I felt the heat

[44:00] cried Many Many

[44:02] Tears let it

[44:04] happen let the tears fall offer them

[44:08] surrender them bathe the Lotus feet of

[44:11] our Supreme bestie with those tears and

[44:14] then the next day we pick ourselves back

[44:15] up and we remind ourselves but I love

[44:20] Krishna there's no way I can leave my

[44:22] Krishna because I love Krishna his Mercy

[44:26] is coming krishna's Mercy is coming If

[44:30] We Can chant with that longing with that

[44:33] remembrance krishna's Mercy is coming

[44:35] krishna's Mercy is coming krishna's

[44:37] Mercy is coming then we will see every

[44:40] moment as an opportunity for the

[44:43] greatest

[44:45] blessings so let's see what happens with

[44:47] the gopies because krishna's Mercy is

[44:50] coming when the girls in the water heard

[44:53] such joking words from Krishna they

[44:55] began to look at at one another and

[44:57] smile they were very joyous to hear such

[44:59] a request from Krishna because they were

[45:01] already in love with him out of shyness

[45:03] they looked at one another but they

[45:05] could not come out of the water because

[45:06] they were naked due to remaining in the

[45:09] water for a long time they felt very

[45:11] cold and were shivering yet upon hearing

[45:14] the pleasing joking words of Govinda

[45:17] their minds were perturbed with great

[45:18] joy they told Krishna Dear Son of nand

[45:22] Maharaj please do not joke with us in

[45:24] that way it is completely unjust to us

[45:27] you are a very respectable boy because

[45:29] you are the son of nand Maharaj and you

[45:31] are very dear to us but you should not

[45:33] play this joke on us because now we are

[45:35] all shivering from the cold water kindly

[45:38] deliver our our garments immediately

[45:40] otherwise we shall suffer they then

[45:43] began to appeal to Krishna with great

[45:44] submission dear sham Sundar they said we

[45:48] are all your Eternal servitors whatever

[45:51] you order us to do we are obliged to

[45:53] perform without hesitation because we

[45:55] consider it our Rel religious duty but

[45:58] if you insist on putting this proposal

[46:00] to us which is impossible to perform

[46:02] then certainly we will have to go to

[46:04] nand mahaj and Lodge a complaint against

[46:06] you if nand mahaj does not take action

[46:09] then we will tell then we shall tell

[46:10] King KSA about your

[46:12] misbehavior so basically they tell

[46:14] Krishna we're going to tell um we we we

[46:17] will complain up to the greatest level

[46:21] possible upon hearing this appeal by the

[46:23] unmarried gopies Krishna answered my

[46:26] dear girls if you think that you are my

[46:29] eternal servitors and you are always

[46:31] ready to execute my order then my

[46:34] request is that with your smiling faces

[46:37] you please come here alone one after

[46:40] another and take your garments if you do

[46:43] not come here however and if you Lodge

[46:45] complaints with my father I shall not

[46:47] care anyway for I know my father is old

[46:49] and cannot take any action against me oh

[46:52] my God he's such a bad kid oh why is he

[46:54] so troublesome have we ever felt this in

[46:57] our lives Krishna why are you troubling

[47:00] me

[47:00] so oh I wish I wish I wish that I could

[47:04] just go and Lodge a complaint against

[47:06] you also Krishna tells them sure go

[47:10] ahead Lodge the complaints how are you

[47:12] going to get out of the water I have

[47:14] your

[47:15] clothes you you you are missing clothes

[47:18] and are completely naked so sure log

[47:21] your complaints I don't know how you're

[47:22] going to do that but be my

[47:24] guest uh and so all of the gopies are

[47:28] incredibly seemingly frustrated with

[47:30] this Krishna who troubles their

[47:33] lives and he does the same with our

[47:35] lives sometimes we get so frustrated

[47:37] with this Krishna oh you are troubling

[47:39] me but it is the sweetest trouble

[47:43] ever if Krishna did not come and make

[47:46] trouble in our lives and if we didn't

[47:47] know that it was Krishna doing

[47:50] it we'd feel completely

[47:53] lost um all of the hardships and in our

[47:56] lives would lose all

[47:58] meaning I know that I would have lost my

[48:03] mind had I not had spiritual literatur

[48:07] to tell me no this is krishna's doing do

[48:11] not worry dear

[48:13] Soul because I would not have had

[48:15] anywhere to turn I I would not have had

[48:17] any way to make sense of the things that

[48:19] happen in life if I didn't have Krishna

[48:22] if I didn't have sh prad if I didn't

[48:24] have Krishna book if I did not have Shad

[48:26] bhagavatam to tell me no dear friend see

[48:31] these hurdles as Krishna working in your

[48:35] life even if he is causing you some

[48:37] trouble it is the sweetest interaction

[48:40] that we could ever

[48:42] have somehow Krishna is making some

[48:45] Pastime within our lives and what we see

[48:47] by the way he interacts with all of the

[48:49] babasi is the way he makes pastimes in

[48:52] their lives is very dramatic and very

[48:55] intense

[48:57] when the gopies saw that Krishna was

[48:59] strong and determined they had no

[49:01] alternative but to abide by his

[49:03] order one after another they came out of

[49:07] the water but because they were

[49:09] completely naked they tried to cover

[49:11] their nakedness by placing their left

[49:13] hand over their pubic area in that

[49:15] posture they were all shivering their

[49:17] simple presentation was so pure that

[49:21] Lord Krishna immediately became pleased

[49:23] with

[49:24] them so what do we do when the Lord has

[49:27] taken everything from us our ideas of

[49:30] ourselves our ideas of our ego our ideas

[49:35] of our Prestige our ideas of our

[49:37] reputation our ideas of everything we

[49:40] thought we

[49:41] were metaphorically Krishna takes

[49:44] everything away from

[49:45] us sometimes literally Krishna takes

[49:48] everything away from us what do we do

[49:51] then we run before Krishna as we are and

[49:54] we say look I I'm

[49:57] yours what do you want I'm

[50:01] yours dropadi

[50:03] was in a a very intense situation where

[50:07] she was about to be

[50:08] disrobed her reputation was at stake

[50:11] this was a

[50:14] grievous like

[50:16] treacherous uh over overstep it was it

[50:21] was it

[50:23] was a complete egregious like

[50:27] molestation of everything that that she

[50:29] was she was the queen and now she was

[50:33] being called a servant and all kinds of

[50:36] cruel harsh names that should never be

[50:42] repeated and she had to throw up both

[50:44] hands

[50:45] Krishna K

[50:47] vinda save

[50:49] me and he did he absolutely did but

[50:53] somehow Krishna demands this

[50:58] surrender so you know we think ah I

[51:02] wouldn't mind Krishna can take what he

[51:03] wants um but Krishna knows paramatma

[51:08] knows exactly what to take how to take

[51:10] it what to do where it means a lot to

[51:14] us Krishna does not

[51:18] simply he does not

[51:21] simply you know his his view of

[51:23] surrender is not the same for

[51:24] everyone because he knows every soul is

[51:28] completely individual and has a

[51:30] completely individual relationship with

[51:32] him and so he knows what means surrender

[51:36] for every individualized soul so just

[51:39] when we think oh if he were to do what

[51:41] he did with the gopies no problem but

[51:44] his

[51:45] idea of surrender is to look inside the

[51:48] heart and say oh what is it exactly that

[51:52] means surrender for you and he takes

[51:54] that he takes that which we are holding

[51:55] holding back he takes that which we are

[51:58] hiding that that thing that only we

[52:01] really really know you know deep within

[52:04] the restes of our hearts and Minds

[52:06] Krishna is a expert thief and he looks

[52:09] through and he's so crooked you know so

[52:12] bent in three places his form is

[52:15] beautiful but it is so crooked so good

[52:17] for winding in between the Dark Shadows

[52:20] of the heart and then he finds that

[52:23] which we hold most dear which we are

[52:26] hiding and he says Ah got it give me

[52:32] this come to me without any of it any of

[52:35] our ego any of our reputation any of the

[52:37] things that we hold

[52:38] dear

[52:41] um every day

[52:44] I look

[52:47] at my own reflection

[52:51] and my hair is is a reminder of that

[52:56] surrender uh I look at it and I

[52:59] think huh um because you know uh I was I

[53:04] was very kind of happy and and and proud

[53:08] of my Whimsical half purple hair that

[53:12] was you know very cool and and Chic and

[53:15] stylish and all of the things and one

[53:18] day I thought

[53:22] um do I need it to be

[53:24] me

[53:26] do I need it to be

[53:29] me what would it be if I gave it all to

[53:32] Krishna what would it be if I gave it

[53:34] all topology all of the things that I

[53:36] thought were cool about

[53:39] myself all of the things that I thought

[53:41] were

[53:43] amazingly like you know elegant and all

[53:45] the things about

[53:47] myself what if I gave them all to

[53:50] Krishna and so one day on an supicious

[53:53] day I did and every day it was supposed

[53:57] to remind me that all of the things that

[54:00] I thought were cool about

[54:02] myself I have to give it to

[54:04] Krishna it is him alone that carries who

[54:09] I am what I think I am my reputation my

[54:12] my my outward appearance Elegance Beauty

[54:17] any of it it is Krishna

[54:20] alone it is a manifestation of my

[54:23] Govinda alone

[54:27] will he carry what I lack and preserve

[54:29] what I

[54:31] have

[54:32] absolutely he will every day he carries

[54:37] what I lack and he preserves what I have

[54:39] so um you know we might be reading this

[54:42] thinking yeah but you know him stealing

[54:44] the clothes of the gopies and all of

[54:46] these things it

[54:47] is Krishna decides on what the price of

[54:51] that surrender will

[54:53] be and even if we think but but I didn't

[54:56] pray

[54:57] that um Krishna says no no I want you to

[55:01] become very dear to me because when he

[55:03] takes from

[55:04] us he is under obligation now he says

[55:07] but I must repay

[55:09] you and sometimes as he's seen with the

[55:13] gopies he actually cannot repay them for

[55:16] what they have given him and so he says

[55:19] take me all of me I

[55:23] I with tears in his eyes is a little

[55:27] speechless about what the gopies have

[55:28] given him he

[55:31] says all you all I have is for you to be

[55:35] pleased with your own actions

[55:38] I who can make the Supreme Lord from

[55:41] whom all speech emate emanates

[55:44] speechless these

[55:46] gopies it is these gopies who say we

[55:49] have sacrificed

[55:50] everything homes

[55:53] husbands fathers in-laws fames in-laws

[55:56] our

[55:57] reputation everything that we have is at

[56:00] stake our our babies whatever it is we

[56:03] our very lives we have sacrificed it for

[56:05] you and what kind of lover are

[56:08] you and all all Krishna can do is kind

[56:11] of sit stunned with tears pouring forth

[56:13] from his eyes saying you're right you

[56:17] you've given me everything I

[56:19] how what can I give

[56:22] you because all they want is love for

[56:27] kishna and so he thinks I have to gain

[56:29] love for my very own

[56:31] self the only way he can repay them is

[56:35] to take on the beautiful form of sh

[56:39] Krishna Goa

[56:41] mahu and then give the love of the

[56:43] gopies to everyone EV anyone

[56:47] everywhere as the ultimate gesture of

[56:52] reciprocation he loses himself in The

[56:54] Madness of the the gop's

[56:57] love and then gives that love of God to

[57:03] everyone I I feel like you know as we

[57:05] get ready for Christmas

[57:08] Mau he's original Santa okay he comes

[57:11] bearing

[57:12] gifts he will arrive within the dark

[57:15] cave the chimney likee Cave of the heart

[57:18] bearing beiring the greatest gift of

[57:20] love of God

[57:23] and F on us and our very lives if we

[57:27] don't just take

[57:29] it just take

[57:31] it Krishna has already taking from us

[57:35] Krishna is demanding this

[57:37] surrender God will demand the surrender

[57:40] whether he want to give it or not God

[57:42] will take the surrender from us by force

[57:46] but when he does he will fill up our

[57:48] hearts with the greatest

[57:51] Miracles so their simple presentation

[57:54] was so pure that that Lord Krishna

[57:56] immediately became pleased with them all

[57:58] the unmarried gopies who prayed to

[58:00] kayani to have Krishna as their husband

[58:02] were thus satisfied a woman cannot be

[58:04] naked before any male except her husband

[58:07] the unmarried gopies desired Krishna as

[58:09] their husband and he fulfilled their

[58:11] desire in this way being pleased with

[58:14] them he took their garments on his

[58:16] shoulder and began to speak as follows

[58:18] my dear girls you have committed a great

[58:21] offense by going naked in the River Jam

[58:24] because of this the predominant deity of

[58:26] the G vun has become displeased with you

[58:30] please therefore touch your foreheads

[58:31] with your folded palms and bow down

[58:34] before the demigod veruna in order to be

[58:36] excused from this offensive act

[58:40] Lord so if you remember they came out

[58:43] really trying to cover themselves with

[58:44] their hands like that's all that they

[58:45] have left and now he's telling them no

[58:50] no no no no now you have to take it one

[58:52] step further you know because we think

[58:55] when Krishna starts to take the

[58:56] surrender we're like okay fine fine fine

[58:58] take it and then krishna's like uh no

[59:02] one step further you are not allowed to

[59:04] hold on to anything you're like oh come

[59:08] [Music]

[59:09] on you're like must you um he likes

[59:14] churned butter you know and that butter

[59:16] churning it's like really gotten the

[59:18] cream of the crop of the milk products

[59:22] you know it's it's really gotten all of

[59:24] the sweetness

[59:26] of all of the milk products and I feel

[59:27] like that's what he does with our lives

[59:29] and our surrender he is eager for the

[59:32] churn sweetness of our surrender and

[59:34] just when we think oh I'll hold on and

[59:36] then chrish says no no hey your

[59:39] obeisances both hands above your head

[59:41] you're like oh come

[59:45] on but this is our lives um when it

[59:48] happens in our lives we think krishna's

[59:52] really rung out the surrender from us

[59:54] and and just when we think okay I've

[59:56] held on to just one small morsel of

[59:58] something that I've had left and Krishna

[59:59] says no no no give it

[1:00:05] all oh the gopies were all simple souls

[1:00:07] and whatever Krishna said they took to

[1:00:09] be true in order to be freed from the

[1:00:11] wrath of vun as well as to fulfill the

[1:00:15] desire and end their vows and ultimately

[1:00:18] to pleas their worshipable lord sh

[1:00:20] Krishna they immediately abided by his

[1:00:22] order thus they became the greatest

[1:00:25] lovers of Krishna and his most obedient

[1:00:28] servitors nothing can compare with the

[1:00:31] Krishna consciousness of the gopies

[1:00:33] actually the gopies did not care for

[1:00:35] veruna or any other demigod they only

[1:00:38] wanted to satisfy Krishna Krishna became

[1:00:42] very ingratiated and satisfied by the

[1:00:44] simple dealings of the gopies and he

[1:00:47] immediately delivered their respective

[1:00:49] garments one after another although

[1:00:51] Krishna cheated the young unmarried

[1:00:53] gopies and made them stand stand naked

[1:00:55] before him and enjoyed joking words with

[1:00:58] them and although he treated them just

[1:01:00] like dolls and stole their garments they

[1:01:02] were still pleased with him and never

[1:01:04] lodged complaints against him this

[1:01:07] attitude of the gopies is described by

[1:01:09] Lord chananya Maha pru when he prays my

[1:01:11] dear Lord Krishna you may embrace me or

[1:01:14] trample me under your feet or you may

[1:01:16] make me brokenhearted by never being

[1:01:19] present before me whatever you like you

[1:01:22] can do because you have complete freedom

[1:01:24] to act but in spite of all your dealings

[1:01:26] you are my Lord eternally and I have no

[1:01:29] other worshipable object this is the

[1:01:32] attitude of the gopies toward

[1:01:34] Krishna Lord Krishna was pleased with

[1:01:37] them and since they all desired to have

[1:01:39] him as their husband he told them my

[1:01:42] dear well-behaved girls I know of your

[1:01:46] desire for me and why you worshiped

[1:01:47] goddess katani and I completely approve

[1:01:51] of Your Action anyone whose full

[1:01:54] consciousness is always absorbed in me

[1:01:56] even if in lust is

[1:01:59] elevated as a fried seed cannot

[1:02:02] fructify so any desire in connection

[1:02:05] with my loving service cannot produce

[1:02:07] any fruitive result as in ordinary Karma

[1:02:10] here is a statement in the

[1:02:17] Brahma everyone is bound by his fruitive

[1:02:20] activities but the but the devotees

[1:02:22] because they work completely for the

[1:02:24] satisfaction of the Lord suffer no

[1:02:26] reactions similarly the gopi's attitude

[1:02:29] toward Krishna although seemingly Lusty

[1:02:31] should not be considered to be like the

[1:02:33] Lusty desires of ordinary women the

[1:02:36] reason is explained by Krishna himself

[1:02:38] activities in devotional service to

[1:02:41] Krishna are transcendental to any

[1:02:44] fruitive result my dear gopies Krishna

[1:02:47] continued your desire to have me as your

[1:02:50] husband will be fulfilled because it is

[1:02:52] with this desire that you worshiped God

[1:02:55] is katani I promise you that during the

[1:02:58] next Autumn season you shall be able to

[1:03:00] meet with me and you shall enjoy me as

[1:03:02] your husband later Krishna and the

[1:03:05] company of his coward boyfriends took

[1:03:07] shelter of the shade of some trees and

[1:03:09] became very happy thus he addressed the

[1:03:12] inhabitants of reavan my dear Stoka

[1:03:15] Krishna my dear vuta my dear badra SAA

[1:03:20] my dear sudama my dear subal my dear

[1:03:23] Arjuna my dear Vish my dear rishab just

[1:03:27] look at these most fortunate trees of

[1:03:30] reavan they have dedicated their lives

[1:03:32] to the welfare of others individually

[1:03:36] they are tolerating all kinds of natural

[1:03:38] disturbances such as hurricanes torran

[1:03:40] of rain scorching heat and piercing cold

[1:03:44] but they are very careful to relieve our

[1:03:46] fatigue and give us shelter I dear

[1:03:48] friends I think they are glorified in

[1:03:50] this birth as trees they are so careful

[1:03:53] to give shelter to others that that they

[1:03:54] are like noble highly elevated

[1:03:57] charitable men who never deny charity to

[1:04:00] one who approaches them no one is denied

[1:04:02] Shelter by these trees they Supply

[1:04:05] various kinds of facilities to Human

[1:04:07] Society such as leaves flowers fruit

[1:04:11] shade Roots bark flavor extracts and

[1:04:15] fuel they are the perfect example of

[1:04:17] noble life they're like a noble person

[1:04:20] who has sacrificed everything possible

[1:04:22] his body mind activity intelligence and

[1:04:25] words for the welfare of all living

[1:04:29] entities

[1:04:32] thus the Supreme personality of godhead

[1:04:35] walked on the bank of the Juna touching

[1:04:39] the leaves of the trees and their fruits

[1:04:42] flowers and twigs and praising their

[1:04:45] glorious welfare

[1:04:48] activities that is all we can hope

[1:04:51] for that one day we may have just done

[1:04:55] our very best with whatever we have with

[1:04:59] whatever body we are

[1:05:02] in so that Krishna will praise us and

[1:05:06] then touch us place his hand over our

[1:05:09] lives as a show of

[1:05:12] gratitude look what my devote has done

[1:05:16] my devote is so Noble that he is willing

[1:05:19] to give me anything

[1:05:23] everything different people may accept

[1:05:25] certain welfare activities to be

[1:05:27] beneficial for Human Society according

[1:05:29] to their own views but the welfare

[1:05:31] activity that can be rendered to people

[1:05:33] in general for Eternal benefit is the

[1:05:36] spreading of the Krishna Consciousness

[1:05:39] movement everyone should be prepared to

[1:05:41] propagate this movement as instructed by

[1:05:44] Lord chetanya one should be humbler than

[1:05:46] the grass on the ground and more

[1:05:48] tolerant than the tree the Toleration of

[1:05:51] the tree is explained by Lord Krishna

[1:05:53] himself and those who are engaged in the

[1:05:55] preaching of Krishna Consciousness

[1:05:57] should learn lessons from the teachings

[1:05:59] of Lord Krishna and Lord chaitanya

[1:06:02] through their direct disciplic

[1:06:05] succession while passing through the

[1:06:07] forest of reavan on the bank of the

[1:06:08] jamuna Krishna sat down at a beautiful

[1:06:11] spot and allowed the cows to drink the

[1:06:13] cold and transparent water of the Guna

[1:06:16] being fatigued the coward boys Krishna

[1:06:20] and balaram also drank after seeing the

[1:06:23] young gopies B in the Juna Krishna

[1:06:26] passed the rest of the morning with the

[1:06:29] boys thus ends the bant purport of the

[1:06:32] 22 chapter of Krishna stealing the

[1:06:35] garments of the unmarried gopy

[1:06:38] girls all glories to

[1:06:42] shav all glories to the Culp of R trees

[1:06:45] of reaven which have been

[1:06:48] caressed by sh

[1:06:50] Krishna all glories to the dust of

[1:06:53] reavan which Shila prad says is non

[1:06:57] different than Krishna

[1:06:59] himself having been impressed with the

[1:07:02] Lotus feet of Sri

[1:07:04] Krishna all glory is to all of us who

[1:07:08] have come to take shelter of shav

[1:07:10] andam the very D that appears within the

[1:07:13] mind and the heart which has sprung

[1:07:16] forth from the words of our aaras are

[1:07:18] great

[1:07:19] teachers and all glory is to our desire

[1:07:23] to take shelter of the teachings of

[1:07:26] divinity of our Supreme dear most

[1:07:32] friend all glories to all of your

[1:07:34] surrender whether given willingly or

[1:07:37] unwillingly I offer my respectful obeses

[1:07:40] to that

[1:07:41] surrender as we tolerate let us remember

[1:07:45] that the Trees of reavan were also

[1:07:47] tolerating and chrishna

[1:07:50] knew so as you tolerate as things are

[1:07:53] happening to to you do not think Krishna

[1:07:56] doesn't

[1:07:57] know do not think that Krishna is blind

[1:08:00] or deaf to our our instances and what is

[1:08:03] happening in our life Krishna

[1:08:06] knows and make no mistake he's telling

[1:08:08] his friends oh my friends oh my dear

[1:08:12] gopies of reavan look at my devotee look

[1:08:16] what they are tolerating for my sake

[1:08:19] just for our sake look what they are

[1:08:22] doing look what they are under

[1:08:25] taking and then Krishna will caress our

[1:08:29] lives with his beautiful

[1:08:31] hand that hand which soothes every ache

[1:08:35] and

[1:08:37] pain that that hand which is soothing

[1:08:40] and makes every

[1:08:42] trouble feel like nothing more than a

[1:08:46] shower of flower petals just like he did

[1:08:49] for

[1:08:50] Goan because of the contact with the

[1:08:53] hand of Shri Krishna goon was in

[1:08:55] complete ecstasy for 7even days and felt

[1:08:58] the Thunderbolts of King Indra like no

[1:09:01] more than a shower of flower

[1:09:05] petals may it be the same for all of us

[1:09:08] and may sh krishna's lotuslike Palms

[1:09:10] give us all

[1:09:13] protection so

[1:09:15] friends let the tears

[1:09:18] flow um but also know that the blessings

[1:09:21] are coming just know Krishna is talking

[1:09:24] about you this surrender is catching his

[1:09:28] attention he's saying

[1:09:29] oh look what they've done for

[1:09:34] me I have I have caused trouble in their

[1:09:36] lives but look at how they've

[1:09:39] tolerated look at how they have given

[1:09:41] themselves to me look at how they have

[1:09:44] then given shade to so many different

[1:09:46] devotees in the form of this Krishna

[1:09:49] Consciousness they are an example for

[1:09:52] devotees everywhere just in the way that

[1:09:54] they have

[1:09:56] tolerated if you have tolerated and I

[1:09:59] know we all have

[1:10:00] tolerated please know Krishna sees your

[1:10:06] surrender and he is enamored with

[1:10:09] you Krishna sees everything that you are

[1:10:11] doing and he is so impressed with

[1:10:14] you may our Lord be impressed and

[1:10:16] pleased with every single one of

[1:10:20] us thank you devotees for making the

[1:10:23] Endeavor to be here

[1:10:47] time Krishna says time I

[1:10:50] am so if you you have all given me the

[1:10:53] greatest gift of

[1:11:18] see what they gave to Krishna

[1:11:21] um and we'll talk more about this

[1:11:23] wonderful

[1:11:24] surrender uh but until

[1:11:27] then I pray that all of us see the

[1:11:31] beautiful hand of Krishna caressing our

[1:11:33] lives and that we understand that this

[1:11:36] surrender is the key to catching

[1:11:38] krishna's

[1:11:39] attention Krishna has taken so much from

[1:11:42] every single one of us that he gives us

[1:11:45] himself in

[1:11:46] return and I pray that we see Krishna

[1:11:49] every

[1:11:52] day it it would be the the Perfection of

[1:11:54] our

[1:11:55] lives but krishna's already showing

[1:11:58] up and I was saying

[1:12:02] that once I pray for Krishna to show up

[1:12:04] in my life I was saying to my friend

[1:12:07] Leela can I then let Krishna Love

[1:12:12] Me or am I so stuck on on whatever I was

[1:12:16] holding on to I'm praying Krishna take

[1:12:19] everything and give me yourself and then

[1:12:20] when he shows up I'm like no not like

According to Gaudiya Vaishnava teaching, surrender to Krishna means shifting from a mindset of control and personal gain to one of service (seva). It is not about external renunciation but an internal reorientation where you approach life and spiritual practice asking 'How can I serve?' rather than 'What will I get?' This surrender is available to anyone, regardless of circumstance, job, or location.
Yes. The Abode of Vrindavan exists not only as a geographical location but within the heart and mind of a sincere practitioner. Studying Krishna Book, chanting the divine names, or maintaining a Tulsi plant at home with devotion are ways to enter into Vrindavan consciousness. What matters is the mood and intention you bring, not the physical location.
In the Gaudiya tradition, this is understood as Krishna's mercy. We often arrive at spiritual practice with conditions and expectations about how surrender should unfold. Krishna, being the Supreme Being who loves us completely, sometimes dissolves our plans to deepen our trust and remove obstacles we don't even recognize. This disruption is grace, not punishment.
The nine primary processes include hearing about Krishna (shravanam), chanting his names (kirtanam), remembering him (smaranam), serving his feet (pada-sevanam), worshipping him (archanam), praying to him (vandanam), serving him (dasyam), befriending him (sakhyam), and offering yourself to him completely (atma-nivedanam). These are not steps to be climbed but different gateways into intimate relationship with the Divine.
In this pastime, Krishna's act disrupts the gopis' carefully planned worship of Goddess Durga. By taking everything they could control—their modesty, their propriety, their planned offering—Krishna reveals that true love and intimacy require complete vulnerability. The gopis' acceptance of this nakedness represents the surrender of the ego's defenses and the willingness to be fully known.
Gopi teaches that there is nothing stopping you from surrendering your whole heart to Krishna no matter your job or circumstances. Approaching any action—work, family care, service to others—with the mood of seva (service to the Divine) transforms it into spiritual practice. Your intention and consciousness matter more than your external situation.
Rather than arriving with expectations about what you will experience or gain, entering with a mood of service means asking 'How can I serve the Divine and the community here?' This shift in orientation protects your practice if external circumstances go wrong—because your foundation is not in getting what you want, but in serving regardless of outcomes.
