Sonia Rodriguez

Sonia Rodriguez, who also goes by Sage Spirit, is a sound healer, movement facilitator and yoga teacher based in Encinitas, California, and the founder of Hawk and the Sage. She describes Encinitas as the city that supported her through her spiritual awakening and her own healing, and says that experience taught her to hold space for others who need healing too.

Her sound work uses crystal quartz singing bowls alongside other instruments to create a relaxing environment that supports a meditative state. She completed a 100-hour Foundations of Sound Healing Certification through the Soul of Yoga in 2019, then chose to pursue sound healing full-time. From March 2022 she collaborated with the Sacred Sound of the Soul, offering weekly sound healings with Crystal Tones Alchemy Bowls.

Movement is the other half of her practice. Sonia draws on 12 years as a dance teacher and works as a dance fitness instructor and movement facilitator. She earned her 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate through the Soul of Yoga Institute in 2022 and continues to study Gentle, Yin and Restorative Yoga. Since November 2022 she has taught dance, meditation and movement classes at the Soul of Yoga, from Dance Cardio World Rhythms to Meditation, Mantra & Movement. She also completed Foundations of Healing Touch through Healing Beyond Borders.

Sonia studies at the Spiritual Arts Institute in Encinitas, where she received her Metaphysicians Certificate after two years. She has meditated with the Divine Light for six years, a practice based on working with light rays that carry specific attributes to help bring change to one's aura and life, and she is working toward a Direct Divine Light Healing Certificate. She has also co-created the Flourish gathering of movement, sound and ceremony with fellow teachers Jen Carqueville and Jen Booker.

Across her work, Sonia aims to offer a safe and inviting environment that fosters connection to mind, body, spirit and soul, especially for people with the busiest minds.
