Lynn Fraser is a meditation teacher and a senior teacher in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation tradition. She is the founder of the Stillpoint Method of Healing Trauma. She lives near family, ocean and forest in Nova Scotia, Canada.
She started Stillpoint after decades of teaching meditation and facilitating private somatic inquiry. She saw that many people are looking for a gentle process in a safe environment, one that allows open, clear seeing and the releasing of patterns of suffering. Her work centres on Somatic Mindfulness Inquiry, which is rooted in eastern meditation practice and philosophy: knowing our basic goodness, the mindbody connection, and awareness. She is clear that it is not therapy, though it can have a therapeutic effect. The aim is to help people heal trauma and build a resilient nervous system by learning to witness sensation and thought from a base of safety.
Her approach grows partly from her own experience. After being physically assaulted while cycling to work, she began a long journey with PTSD and healing, and she has written about how kindness, compassion and patience with herself became the key. She has offered free daily online practice since December 2015, and her community class has run since 2018. She has been meditating for more than thirty years and teaching for nearly as long.
Lynn also founded the Radical Recovery Summit, which looks at healing trauma and addiction through a social justice lens. She has interviewed leaders in the field there, including Gabor Maté, Deb Dana, Prentis Hemphill, Stephen Porges, Rick Hanson and Resmaa Menakem. She has been a guest on podcasts and summits including The Trauma Therapist Podcast, Avaiya University, Therapy Chat and Not Another Anxiety Show. Each year she donates a share of her sales to social justice and humanitarian organizations.
Rick Hanson has said of her, "Lynn's the real deal."
