HuDost

HuDost is an electric-folk, Americana and world rock ensemble that tours internationally. Their albums have reached the Billboard and Folk charts, placing in the top 5 in Canada and the top 10 in the USA.

The core of the group is two musicians: Moksha Sommer, from Montréal, and Jemal Wade Hines, from Kentucky. Their music weaves folk, world and rock into a blend that brings both tears and laughter to listeners. It draws on pop and rock as well as traditional Sufi music, Bulgarian, Croatian, Macedonian and Balkan folk music, and songs in Farsi, Turkish and Arabic. It speaks to the nameless longing that lives somewhere in all our hearts, and it invites celebration.

Since 2015, Sommer and Hines have also worked as advocates, serving as Kentucky Congressional District Representatives for ONE, a non-profit organization working to end extreme poverty and, specifically, the sexism of poverty.
