Dianne Bondy is a social justice activist, author, accessible yoga teacher and leader of the Yoga For All movement. Her approach invites anyone to practice, regardless of shape, size, ethnicity or level of ability. She is an E-RYT 500 and YACEP, and she is known for educating yoga instructors around the world on how to make their classes welcoming to all kinds of practitioners. She says the same teachings can be applied to any movement modality or class.
Dianne has been immersed in yoga, fitness and movement since the late 1980s, when she first began sharing movement practices with friends. She later owned a yoga studio for a decade, and she has spent more than thirty years advocating for greater accessibility in yoga spaces. She describes movement as a way of investing in ourselves and our overall well-being, not of conforming to societal standards of beauty. On her YouTube channel she describes herself as specializing in yoga for bigger bodies and every body, exploring yoga, culture and diversity.
She is the author of Yoga for Everyone: 50 Poses for Every Type of Body (DK Publishing, Penguin Random House), which appeared on the New York Times bestsellers list. She also co-wrote Yoga Where You Are: Customize Your Practice for Your Body & Your Life with Kat Heagberg. Her writing appears in Yoga and Body Image Volume 1, Yoga Renegades and Yes Yoga Has Curves. She is a frequent contributor to Yoga International, DoYou, Yoga Girl and Omstars, and has been featured in The Guardian, Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, Mashable and People.
For more than twenty years Dianne has led conferences, workshops, training courses and events for universities, professional associations, medical professionals, corporations and yoga organizations. Her topics include disordered eating, accessible yoga, entrepreneurship and self-empowerment. She has spoken on yoga, race and diversity at Princeton, Duke, the University at Buffalo and UC Berkeley. Her work toward diversity in yoga has also been recognized through her involvement with Pennington's, Gaiam and the Yoga & Body Image Coalition. She teaches yoga teacher trainings under the title The Path to Yoga Justice and Equity.
