The Inversion: Why Amma Refuses Personal Celebration

Picture thousands gathered at Amritapuri in Kerala—government ministers, the Vice President of India, spiritual teachers, and ordinary people who've traveled from across the world—all here for a birthday. But this isn't a concert honoring a saint. It's Vishwa Seva Dinam, the 73rd anniversary of Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi), and the occasion exists specifically to not be about her. Instead, it becomes a focal point for turning attention and resources outward. Amma, a living teacher whose embrace has become legendary across millions of lives, has made one request on every birthday of her life: that celebration move away from her and toward those forgotten by society.

This inversion—birthday as service opportunity rather than personal milestone—is the beating heart of Vishwa Seva Dinam (World Service Day). As one speaker at the 73rd celebration explained it: "Amma has never asked for anything on her birthday except that we turn our celebration outward towards those who are hungry, sick, lonely or forgotten. In Amma's eyes, a birthday is not a milestone to be admired but an opportunity to give."

From Spring to River: How Compassion Became Visible Infrastructure

To grasp the scale of what Amma has built across seven decades, the speakers at the celebration reached for a single image—the river. One addressed the gathering: "A river begins as a small spring and no one standing beside it can imagine the lands it will one day nourish. Amma's compassion began just as quietly. Today that spring has become a mighty river."

That river has a geography now. It flows through hospital corridors where patients receive dignity alongside medicine. It runs through classrooms where young minds are shaped to serve rather than merely succeed. It unites families on the verge of collapse and builds homes where families once had nothing. It moves through villages rebuilding after floods, earthquakes, and storms. The poetic metaphor maps onto concrete institutions—Amrita hospitals now operate across India, including a facility in Faridabad recently recognized as one of Asia's leading medical centers. Amrita educational initiatives serve students from early childhood through university. And beneath all of it: a network of more than 15,000 self-help groups, predominantly led by women, that function as vessels for economic empowerment at the local level.

The math of this river is instructive. When a woman becomes economically self-sufficient through these groups, she becomes an agent of change in her own community—educated children, stronger families, resistance to exploitation. The work crosses borders. The Vice President's remarks noted that flood-affected countries like Nepal have been "blessed and helped" by Amma's organizations. Nationality dissolves in the water. "Amma's compassion," one speaker said, "recognize[s] only one identity, and that is humanity."

The Moment That Seeds All the Rest

But statistics can't hold the reason any of this exists. Throughout the celebration, speakers returned to one recurring memory—a moment so consistent across millions of lives that it's become almost universal among Amma's devotees. A speaker articulated it: "Some days are marked on the calendar, others are marked in the heart. Amma's birthday belongs to the second kind. Every year as this day approaches, something quiet stirs in millions of homes across the world. People who have never met one another feel bound together by a simple memory, a single memory. The moment Amma held them, looked into their eyes, made them feel they were not alone."

It's that personal recognition—unconditional attention, the sense of being truly seen—that gives the river its emotional source. A devotee's embrace with Amma isn't theater. It's reported as an exchange of presence so profound that people spend years returning to it as a touchstone. That single moment of feeling not alone becomes, for many, the seed that later flowers into action. The institutions Amma has built are, in this sense, extensions of the same gesture: the recognition of the forgotten, the insistence that no human being is disposable.

Why India's Vice President Came to Celebrate Seva

The presence of the nation's highest political figures at a spiritual teacher's birthday is unusual enough to signal something. One speaker explained the deeper principle: "We are profoundly honored by the presence of the honorable vice president of India whose presence lends this celebration special dignity and affirms the timeless Indian ideal that service to humanity is service to God."

This isn't symbolic in the way most state visits are. What's being affirmed is a philosophy where the boundary between the spiritual and the political dissolves. Leadership, in this framework, isn't a separate order of being from devotion. "Leadership at its finest is also a form of [selfless service]," the speaker said, "and your presence reminds us that governance and compassion can walk hand in hand." In the classical Indian understanding, this is the teaching of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita—that selfless action (nishkama karma) is the highest form of service. Amma doesn't teach this as metaphor. She demonstrates it.

Another speaker made the comparison direct: "Krishna speaks of selfless action. Amma demonstrates selfless action through her life." A hospital bed, a schoolroom, a self-help group meeting in a village—these become the practical texts where ancient teaching becomes visible.

The Radical Simplicity of Love Without Return

What makes Vishwa Seva Dinam resonate across millions—drawing crowds that rival major festivals, commanding the attention of national leaders, generating institutional sprawl that touches millions of lives—is its refusal of transaction. Every institution Amma has built operates on one principle: "Love that asks for nothing in return."

This sounds simple until you live in a world where every gesture expects something back—a thank-you, recognition, reciprocation. In that context, Amma's institutions offer something almost alien: care without the weight of owing. A patient treated in an Amrita hospital doesn't owe gratitude. A child in an Amrita school doesn't owe loyalty. A woman in a self-help group isn't trapped in debt or dependency. The giving is clean.

The birthday celebration, therefore, isn't peripheral to this teaching. It's central. By refusing to accept personal tribute and instead using her birthday to focus energy on the unmet needs of others, Amma is making a statement about what spiritual maturity looks like. It's not about being honored or remembered. It's about the river continuing to flow toward the thirsty. After 73 years, that river still carries the same pure water.

Where to go from here

If you're curious about the institutions mentioned—Amrita hospitals, Amrita schools, or the self-help group network—Amma's official channels (amma.org and the social media links in the video description) offer entry points. The deeper invitation, though, is less about joining an organization and more about asking what Amma's philosophy proposes: What would it look like if my birthday, my talents, my resources were treated not as personal possessions to be celebrated but as invitations to serve? The 73rd Vishwa Seva Dinam was a public answer to that question. The question itself is yours to sit with.

[1:03:32] Some days are marked on the calendar,  others are marked in the heart.

[1:03:41] Amma's birthday belongs to the second kind.  Every year as this day approaches, something

[1:03:50] quiet stirs in millions of homes across the world.  People who have never met one another feel bound

[1:03:58] together by a simple memory, a single memory. The  moment Amma held them, looked into their eyes,

[1:04:08] made them feel they were not alone as Sri Amit  rightly pointed out yesterday. That's why this day

[1:04:17] is called Vishua Sava Dam. Ama has never asked for  anything on her birthday except that we turn our

[1:04:28] celebr celebration outward towards those who are  hungry, sick, lonely or forgotten. In Amma's eyes,

[1:04:38] a birthday is not a milestone to be admired but  an opportunity to give. A river begins as a small

[1:04:47] spring and no one standing beside it can imagine  the lands it will one day nourish am compassion

[1:04:55] began just as quietly today that spring has  become a mighty river. It flows through the

[1:05:03] hospital corridors where patients are treated  with dignity through classrooms where young

[1:05:09] minds are shaped to serve. Uniting families on  the verge of falling apart. Building new homes

[1:05:17] where families one had once had nothing. And  through villages rebuilding after the floods,

[1:05:23] earthquakes and the storms. Yet for all its  breath, the river still carries the same pure

[1:05:32] water. Love that asks for nothing in return.  Every institution Amma has built is at heart an

[1:05:42] invitation to each of us to become a little more  patient, a little more kind, a little more willing

[1:05:48] to share. Today, this gathering is graced by those  who shape the life of our nation and our state.

[1:46:49] Bharat Sri CP Radha Krishnan GI respected governor  of Kerala Arlayar GI respected chief minister Vidi

[1:46:59] Satishan GI revered swami G's distinguished  guests and my dear brothers and sisters

[1:47:07] Allah wkum namaskarum.

[1:47:13] Today I do not feel that I've simply come  to attend a birthday celebration. I feel

[1:47:18] I have come to a place where millions  of people have found hope, comfort and

[1:47:24] strength. The last time I came to Kerala was  during Onam. Every time I come to Keralum,

[1:47:31] I experience a special warmth in the people, in  the culture and of course in the extraordinary

[1:47:39] beauty of this land. But today as I come to  Amritapuri, that feeling is very very different.

[1:48:04] And perhaps that is because this is not  simply a place. This is the place from

[1:48:10] where young girl from simple fishing family  began a journey of compassion that would

[1:48:15] eventually touch millions of lives across the  world. When we normally celebrate a birthday,

[1:48:22] we celebrate one person's life. But when  we celebrate our beloved Amma's birthday,

[1:48:28] we are also celebrating the countless lives  that have been changed because of her life.

[1:48:36] Today here we are celebrating Sava, we  are celebrating Karuna and above all we

[1:48:43] are celebrating the extraordinary power of love.  That is why I consider it a privilege and also a

[1:48:51] blessing to be here today on the 73rd birthday of  her holiness Mata Amritan Dvi our beloved Amma.

[1:49:03] Amma's life is an inspiration and a powerful  reminder of what true service means. She was born

[1:49:11] here in humble circumstances with no privilege  and no resources. Yet through her compassion and

[1:49:19] selfless service, she has touched countless lives.  She has shown us that service does not begin with

[1:49:26] what we have. It begins with what we are willing  to give. And I found a deep resonance of Ahmad's

[1:49:35] mission with the vision of our honorable prime  minister Narendra Modi G. Their association

[1:49:41] with Amma spans over two decades from the time  when Modi G was the chief minister of Gujarat to

[1:49:49] recently when he inaugurated the Amriita hospital  in Faridabad which has become one of the Asia's

[1:49:55] largest healthc care facilities. Respecting the  spirit of Sava, our honorable prime minister also

[1:50:03] mentioned that Amma is a guiding light whose  compassion nurtures her devotees like mother

[1:50:11] nature nurtures her children. And I believe we are  truly blessed to have Amma among us. A heart full

[1:50:18] of love and two hands which are always willing to  serve. Amma has shown the world that spirituality

[1:50:26] is not separate from service. Spirituality finds  its highest expression when we serve another human

[1:50:34] being. What touches me most is the simplicity of  Amma's love. I feel honored and deeply privileged

[1:50:42] when I found the opportunity to lay in her arms  and the boundless love that I felt in that moment.

[1:50:49] I don't think that moment I have felt anywhere  else other than my own mother when I was there.

[1:50:55] So that is the power that she carries with  herself. There is no distinction of status,

[1:51:02] no distinction of wealth, nor religion, nor  nationality or any position before love and

[1:51:09] before Allah. We are all equal. I have heard many  accounts of Amma personally caring for people who

[1:51:16] are suffering and neglected including those who  are affected by diseases and other difficult

[1:51:22] circumstances. And all those stories remind us  what true compassion means by reaching those to

[1:51:29] whom society often forgets. And truly Amma's com  compassion cannot be measured by any statistics

[1:51:36] or any numbers. Just to have a glimpse of her SA  898 crores for free medical care more than 64 lakh

[1:51:47] patients treated at our Amita hospitals 50,000  homes across India and Sri Lanka have been built 1

[1:51:55] cr people are being fed every year 2.5 lakh women  empowered through 15,000 self-help groups and more

[1:52:03] than 100 crores towards Government of India's Nami  Ganga program from tsunami to Kerala floods covid

[1:52:12] to ward shabarimala temple wherever bharat has  faced suffering amma's hands have reached out in

[1:52:20] service it is my great honor to be here present  today and a memorable moment in my life and also

[1:52:28] I personally connect deeply to amma's teachings  because amma's vibrance finds a deep presence in

[1:52:35] my home state of Andhra Pradesh also where she  has reached the people of Andra through three

[1:52:41] S's sava, spirituality and sika. In Sava, the  mut has stood with our people during cyclones

[1:52:50] and floods extending relief and habilitation  in the true spirit of service. In spirituality,

[1:52:57] Amritapuri has long welcomed devotees from Andhra  Pradesh who have traveled towards Sabarimala who

[1:53:03] paused to seek Amma's blessings before continuing  their sacred journey. And in Sikshia when our

[1:53:10] chief minister Sri Nar Chandraabanaru envisioned  Amarawati as our new capital for the state of

[1:53:16] Andhra Pradesh, Amma has come forward early with  a commitment to establish the Amita Vishwa Vidya

[1:53:23] Pittam campus. We are very very grateful for  the love she has shown towards Andra and the

[1:53:29] students and the youngsters of Andhra Pradesh  also. And I have not only come here myself

[1:53:35] but I bring bounds of love on this divine day  for Amma also from the state of Andhra Pradesh

[1:53:43] and the work of Ma Amritanay Mat demonstrates  that service can take many forms. healthcare,

[1:53:51] education, disaster relief, poverty alleviation,  envir environmental initiatives and also community

[1:53:59] development. Amalaba bharatam and swatch bharat  related initiatives show that even cleanliness

[1:54:05] and social responsibility can also become forms  of spiritual service. the educational contribution

[1:54:13] where education is not only about creating  successful professionals but also disciplined,

[1:54:19] compassionate and responsible citizens. The  healthcare institutions demonstrate that advanced

[1:54:25] medical care and compassion can also go together.  Amma's message has a very deep connection with

[1:54:32] India's spiritual tradition. The principle that  the same divine presence exists in every single

[1:54:39] human being. As a devotey of Sri Krishna herself,  I see a beautiful connection with the Bhagavat

[1:54:45] Gita. Our duty is to perform our responsibilities  with devotion, compassion and a spirit of

[1:54:52] service. Krishna speaks of selfless action. Amma  demonstrates selfless action through her life.

[1:55:02] Her work shows how spiritual values can be  translated into practical service in the

[1:55:08] society. As someone serving in public life, taking  inspiration from Amma, I believe development must

[1:55:16] ultimately reach the common man, infrastructure,  connectivity. I'm the ministry of minister for

[1:55:23] civil aviation. So connectivity is a very  important it plays a very important role in

[1:55:28] the society and technology all these aspects have  meaning only when they improve the people's lives

[1:55:35] and create much better opportunities for them.  Amma's life gives us all the public service is a

[1:55:43] very important reminder in our lives. Positions  may give us responsibility but compassion gives

[1:55:50] that responsibility the true meaning. I feel truly  blessed to be here in this sacred place to receive

[1:55:56] Amma's love and blessings and to experience the  love of all the people that are gathered here on

[1:56:03] this 73rd birthday. My humble prayers are that  Ahmad's message of love, peace, compassion and

[1:56:11] selfless service continues to inspire millions  and millions across our country and across the

[1:56:18] world. Also this year's Vishwa Sevaadinam a day  of selfless service makes the central message of

[1:56:26] this celebration even more meaningful and I leave  one closing thought with all the youngsters that

[1:56:32] are here and all of them who are connected to  the diviness of beloved Amma across the world.

[1:56:38] The message that Allah is giving to all of us  especially the youngsters when we see another

[1:56:44] person's suffering as our own service stops  being an obligation and becomes an expression of

[1:56:51] love. Let us work with that attitude for a better  world for a better country and my humble prayers

[1:56:58] again to our beloved Dama and thanking her for  making me part of this sacred event. Thank you.

[2:04:05] Speaker of our Nyam Sabha, all other  dignitaries sitting here, namaskarum.

[2:04:13] Priya Sahodari Sodaran Maram Asham Sakala

[2:04:21] I will not take much of your time because  we are yet to listen to our honorable most

[2:04:31] respected Shri Radha Krishnan G vice president of  India. Certainly it is a privilege for me and all

[2:04:40] of us to be present on this very auspicious  occasion. We are in fact not celebrating the

[2:04:51] birthday of our in fact we are reminding ourselves  by celebrating this particular day that we all are

[2:05:05] for the people who are needed most for them we  have to work that is why today's day is called

[2:05:16] and celebrated as vishwa sava dinham vishwa sava  dasam. So this particular divas or dina is a sava

[2:05:28] divas that we will have to offer to the public.  We will have to work for the public. The life of

[2:05:37] amma is not to be told again and again. It is  to be experienced. It is to be understood and

[2:05:46] by that we get always the inspiration what she  has been doing throughout her life. Throughout

[2:05:56] her all the life she has done something for the  people something for the needy people. And that

[2:06:04] is why her life itself tells us that do something  for the people. It is not necessary that we live

[2:06:14] for ourselves. It is not necessary that we do  something for ourselves. It is necessary to do

[2:06:22] something for others. It is that we live for  others. That is how she has projected her life

[2:06:31] and she has inspired the many many lives in this  country and in the world. What we want? We want

[2:06:40] name all the time is the person who is to be who  will be guiding us. There are many persons within

[2:06:49] ourselves who can guide us. Allah has guided  us throughout her life. What is to be done? It

[2:06:58] is not only that she is in the health services,  health care services, she is in the education,

[2:07:07] she wherever some need arises, Allma is present  there. Whenever there is something happening

[2:07:15] wrong, Allah is there to guide us, to do us,  to tell us that this is to be done. I have a

[2:07:23] last time I remember when I was here I have been  telling the whole uh world that why amma is here.

[2:07:34] Bhagan Sri Krishna in the Bhagat Gita has guided  us has told us in fact he has promised us whenever

[2:07:45] there is adher on the so on in in the society on  the earth I will be coming there to rectify that

[2:08:04] I will be coming there. Samhawami Yogi, Yugi  I will come here and we all people we are not

[2:08:15] that intellectually high but we all find try to  find out where is the Sri Vishnu where is the

[2:08:23] Sri Krishna who is in our society because we find  wrongdoings everywhere which are to be noted when

[2:08:35] we come there and we try to find out Sri Vishnu.  It is not necessary to find Bhagan Sri Vishnu or

[2:08:43] Sri Krishna in our every day where he is there.  Amma is the form of Bhagan Sri Vishnu. She is on

[2:08:56] the earth to tell us to guide us what is being do  doing being done wrong by the people misguiding

[2:09:06] us telling us what is not required. Amma is here  to guide us. In fact she is the right person of

[2:09:18] sanatana to tell us this is to be done. Sanatana  is nothing to do with your rituals in your house.

[2:09:27] Sanatana is what is to be given to the people to  the society. That is the actual sanatana dharma

[2:09:34] and is doing very same thing and in that sense is  the aara of Vishnu telling us this is to be done.

[2:09:54] That is what we want to reward now and that is  the reason why we are we have gathered here to

[2:10:02] get ourself guided. Sanatana is not the rituals.  Sanatana is a sava of others. Sava paramod dharma.

[2:10:13] That is what we have been telling us. Sava  is for others. And that is exactly why we

[2:10:20] are here. We must understand the very purpose of  life of amma. And what is that purpose? Purple

[2:10:30] is purpose is to do sava for others. And that  is how we will be guided throughout our life.

[2:10:39] I only pray to the almighty that Allah  be with us for long long long long years

[2:10:46] so that we will be guided properly to do  sava of our society. That's what I want

[2:10:53] to say. Namaskaram my again pronams at  the feet of amma ashamasaka. Thank you

[2:11:03] Shri Rajendra Vishwanatar G Sri Chandrauram  Swami Radha Krishna Bharat Sri CPhakrishna

[2:11:38] Shri CP Radha Krishna Gamsaru. We now humbly  request the chief guest S. CP Radha Krishnan

[2:11:49] GI the honorable vice president of India to  kindly gather us gather address this gathering.

[2:12:28] Today we all blessed by God to have the  blessings of our amma. And uh on this

[2:12:40] day the dignitaries who are sharing the das  with me. Our honorable governor of Keralam

[2:12:49] and Tamil Nadu. Srian Rajendra Vishnat Arleer  GI our honorable chief minister of Keralam.

[2:13:00] Sriman Vidi Sadi Sanji our honorable Union  Minister of Civil Aviation. Srian Kinjarapu

[2:13:12] Raman Naidogaru our honorable Union Minister of  State for Petroleum and Natural Gas. Srian Sures

[2:13:21] Gorpiji. Our honorable speaker of Keralam Srian  Thuanjour Radha Krishna Agal, honorable ministers

[2:13:37] of Keralam government and honorable high court  judges, honorable deputy speaker, our honorable

[2:13:46] MPs Srian Sashidar Gi and NK Primeandran GI.  Our honorable MLAs, sami, devotees, volunteers,

[2:14:01] friends and

[2:14:16] I recall my association with Tama that is  Now three decades that is 30 years old. I

[2:14:30] when amma visited my hometown Turup 30 years  back I was the organizer for that program

[2:14:46] and we couldn't believe our own eyes  on that day. Amma started blessings

[2:14:54] to the devotees at about 6:00 in the evening.

[2:15:01] And it is ended the very  next day early morning 7:30

[2:15:08] more than 13 and a half hours Amma was sitting at

[2:15:14] one place and she was continuously  blessing the devotees throughout

[2:15:24] and today it is a profound privilege age and a  matter of immense happiness for me to be present

[2:15:33] here at Amiri for Visa Dinam on the occasion of  the 73rd birthday of our respected Amma. I pay my

[2:15:49] special respect to Amma and uh I always pray  that she should lead us for many more years.

[2:16:05] I still remember that whenever  we are meeting and taking the

[2:16:13] blessings of Allah, you are getting yourself  strengthened. There is no doubt about it.

[2:16:23] I remember when Amma has come to  Coyatu at the time I was a sitting

[2:16:29] MP and I took a dicha from AMA somebody  told me you please think about a flower

[2:16:44] all of a sudden I don't know I  have not think about the flower

[2:16:47] of jasmine or rose or something else very famous

[2:16:53] In Turukural there is one flower has been  mentioned that is anam. The name of the

[2:17:02] flower is anam that came to my mind  and I took the blessings of told me

[2:17:16] Nachu and

[2:17:20] I was uh wondered and still I couldn't believe  it how that Anicha Maler I have never seen it.

[2:17:31] It is there only inural but that name has  been told to me in my years by Allah and

[2:17:41] on that day I took the teachab from her that  helps me to keep my self discipline even today

[2:17:54] so I always offer my profound respects to  Allah whose entire life has been a message

[2:18:00] of love and selfless service. Amma's life  reminds us of a timeless truth of bat that

[2:18:10] is sava is the way of life of every barian. SA  is an expression of oneness with humanity. From

[2:18:24] Amma's childhood itself, Amma felt the sufferings  of people around her and responded with food,

[2:18:33] clothing, affection and compassion. When I was  talking to our chief minister Siman Sadi Sanji,

[2:18:42] he told me whenever he is meeting Amma,  Amma always talk about how to serve the

[2:18:49] people that to poorest among the poor in the  best way that shows her affection and love for

[2:18:59] the poor people and to uplift their living  standards. At the heart of this service was

[2:19:08] a profound spiritual understanding that all  beings share an essential divine one oneness.

[2:19:16] Amma has expressed this beautifully through the  example of the right hand soothing and inured

[2:19:24] left hand. See he has said that the right hand  does not ask why should I help the left hand.

[2:19:33] It helps because both are part of the same  body. This is the philosophy of Amma's Sava.

[2:19:44] Amma has given the world a very powerful  insight. She always speaks of two kinds of

[2:19:50] poverty. The first is poverty of food, clothing  and shelter. And the second is the poverty of

[2:19:57] love and compassion. We must certainly address  the first. There is no doubt about it. But only

[2:20:06] material prosperity cannot fill loneliness or  it cannot generate happiness. As followers of

[2:20:16] we must ensure that no person feels abandoned.  This is the deeper meaning of sava. The love and

[2:20:25] affection you are showing to the others that  is where the real social change takes place.

[2:20:33] One of the most inspiring dimensions of Mada  Amiranabiri M is the healthcare. Since 1998,

[2:20:43] charitable medical care worth over 890 cr 890 cr  has been provided in bar benefiting more than 64

[2:20:55] lakh patients. This is a remarkable achievement.  Amed hospital sat kochi. I still remember when

[2:21:06] Bajai gi then the prime minister of India came  to open the hospital and the day I reached from

[2:21:14] Delhi by air but somehow my reservation for  the train to coin has not been confirmed.

[2:21:26] When I entered the train, they said, "Sorry,  sir. Uh, somehow the EK has not been released.

[2:21:33] We will try to adjust." They couldn't  adjust till I reached. The whole night

[2:21:40] I traveled as a non-reserved passenger and  I took the blessings of Amma on that day.

[2:21:50] So I always remember the hospital opened  by our then prime minister Adelari Wajay

[2:22:01] and Amida hospitals at Kochi and Faridabad  which was opened by now the prime minister

[2:22:09] of India Siman Narendra Modi GI combine medical  excellence with affordability and compassion.

[2:22:20] I recall

[2:22:25] while inaugurating the Amida hospital at  Faridabad in August 2022, our honorable

[2:22:31] prime minister Shiman Narendra Modi said  about Amma. Amma is the embodiment of love,

[2:22:39] compassion, service and sacrifice. She is  the carrier of India's spiritual tradition.

[2:22:47] These are the words of our Narendra Modi Gi,  our honorable Narendra Modi G and also recited

[2:22:55] a sloa in Sanskrit which means I neither want the  riches of the kingdom nor do I seek the comforts

[2:23:03] of the heaven. My only desire is to remove the  pain and the sorrows of the suffering community.

[2:23:10] This is the great spirit of Allah. Our honorable  Pam stressed how our Indian society holds such

[2:23:19] thoughts and values and that is why service  and treatment become the consciousness of

[2:23:26] our society itself and Madaandayama is the  truly the pulse of such a great society.

[2:23:38] Under the guidance of respected Ahmad,  there are satellite charitable hospitals,

[2:23:43] mobile health buses, village health camps and  teley medicine initiatives reaching the remote

[2:23:52] and our isolated tribal communities. This is  particularly important for Bor because access

[2:24:00] to the quality health care must extend beyond our  cities. Today as part of businessam free surgery

[2:24:09] is also being provided to underprivileged and  the beneficiaries at Amida hospitals in Kochi

[2:24:15] and Paridabad. I congratulate all those who have  made this noble initiative possible. SEA is about

[2:24:24] creating opportunities for the future. More than  55,000 scholarships have been provided worldwide

[2:24:32] to help the children to continue their education.  Rehabilitated education is reaching the villages

[2:24:41] while after school tutoring, adult literacy and  vocational training are opening the new pathways

[2:24:49] for disadvantaged communities all over the country  and the globe. Another remarkable dimension of

[2:24:58] AMA's humanitarian mission is the empowerment  of women. The most uneducated or little educated

[2:25:07] woman being empowered through aminoi and about 2.5  lakh women from poor and vulnerable communities

[2:25:18] have been supported through startup capital  vocational training and micro finance with more

[2:25:25] than 15,000 self-help groups are functioning under  Rama. When a woman becomes economically empowered,

[2:25:34] the impact extends far beyond the individual  because she takes care the entire family.

[2:25:42] This is why Nariski is not simply about  participation. It is about empowerment,

[2:25:48] dignity, opportunity and leadership. What  began with the compassion of a young gale

[2:25:55] in a village has today grown into humanitarian  movement touching millions of lives in Barat and

[2:26:02] across the world and Mahada Aandi M has built over  50,000 homes for the homeless supported thousands

[2:26:12] of children through scholarships provided  pensions to more than one lakh improvised

[2:26:19] people and empowered more than 2.5 lakh woman  and the AMA service during the tsunami cannot

[2:26:29] be forgot by anyone whether it is Tamil Nadu  Keralam whether it is and Orisa whether it is

[2:26:36] Sri Lanka Amas SA is unificatable for those who  need the service at their most crucial period

[2:26:48] of their life. I believe the real greatness lies  in the human lives behind these numbers. This is

[2:26:55] why service must always be understood not merely  through statistics but through the transformation

[2:27:02] it is creating in humans lives. The true test  of SA often comes during times of crisis. The

[2:27:11] Madame Amin has repeatedly stood with the people  affected by the disasters. Today we have seen the

[2:27:20] flood affected country Nepal has been blessed and  helped by today on this das from the Indian Ocean

[2:27:33] tsunami to the Gujarat earthquake from the Uttaran  flood to the Kerala floods from the coid9 pandemic

[2:27:41] to the vanard landslides the organization of AMA  has extended relief, rehabilitation and long-term

[2:27:49] support. The M contributed 100 crore to the  government of India's Nami Gang program and has

[2:27:58] undertaken tree plantation cleaningless drives  and initiatives such sustainable rural living.

[2:28:07] The Amalabar Adam initiative conducts large  numbers of clean illness drives across the

[2:28:13] country including Sabriala and our Bomba holy  PMA river is also been cleaned. More than 10

[2:28:23] lakh trees have been planted worldwide as a part  of union UN billion tree campaign. Friends, the

[2:28:31] spirit that inspires our work is deeply connected  to the civilizational ethos of our mother bar.

[2:28:39] Our ancient wisdom teaches us the world is one  family. This is the way of our lives being led.

[2:28:55] No boundaries of cast, creed, color, language,

[2:29:05] water.

[2:29:08] water

[2:29:12] has no boundaries of cast, creed, language,

[2:29:23] region or nationality. It recognize only one  identity that is humanity. This is the nucleus

[2:29:34] of our philosophy of visa. This is the great  thinking of Amma. The world today faces multiple

[2:29:44] challenges. There are conflicts, humanitarian  crisis, natural disasters, displacement, poverty,

[2:29:54] loneliness and environmental challenges. In such  a world, humanity needs more than technological

[2:30:03] advancement. It needs compassionate advancement  too. I am pleased to note that as part of visa

[2:30:13] dam humanitarian initiatives worth 50 cr are  being launched that has been distributed by all

[2:30:20] the people sitting on the das. Friends, Barat is  now progressing towards the vision of Pixit Bar.

[2:30:28] Development requires infrastructure, technology,  investment, innovation and economical growth. But

[2:30:35] development must also have a human face and human  touch. While marching towards the attaining a

[2:30:41] vixit bar, we must ensure the modernity and our  civilizational values move together. The great

[2:30:52] ethics of our culture should be followed  and that is where Ahmad's contribution

[2:30:56] is immense because Basat B must be our  guiding mantra. We should also ensure

[2:31:06] that because vit is an inclusive  barat where no one is left behind.

[2:31:15] On this sacred occasion, I once again  offer my respectable pranam to amma

[2:31:22] and uh my appreciation to the mada its  and its volunteers, doctors, educators,

[2:31:32] researchers and every individual who  has dedicated time and energy to the

[2:31:37] service of the humanity. May this noble  moment continue touch millions of lives.

[2:31:43] Sava is the dharaka mantra. With this I say  amma is not only a spiritual amma is a miracle

[2:31:59] and amma's guidelines will guide us  to serve the society better with this

[2:32:08] amida chin. Long live mother. Long live Carol.

[2:32:49] Shri Vid Sadishan Governor Shri Rajendra Vishadra

[2:32:57] Samanar MP MLM

[2:33:26] of our most beloved. Thank you very much sir  for gracing us with your esteemed presence.

Vishwa Seva Dinam (World Service Day) is Amma's birthday celebration reimagined around a single principle: turning the occasion outward toward those who are hungry, sick, lonely, or forgotten. Rather than accepting personal tribute, Amma has made it clear her birthday is an opportunity to give, not to be given to. It's a public enactment of the spiritual principle of selfless service.
Amma's work includes Amrita hospitals (operating across India, including a leading medical center in Faridabad), educational programs from early childhood through university, and a network of over 15,000 self-help groups focused on women's economic empowerment. Her institutions also support disaster relief and village rebuilding across national borders, including Nepal.
Self-help groups are typically small circles of women who pool resources and knowledge to achieve economic independence. When a woman becomes economically empowered, she becomes an agent of change in her own family and community. Amma's network of 15,000+ such groups means the ripple effects of empowerment reach into villages across India.
The Vice President's attendance affirms an Indian spiritual principle: that service to humanity is service to God. His presence signals that governance and compassion can walk hand in hand, and that Amma's model of leadership—rooted in selfless action rather than power—offers a vision relevant to the nation itself.
The metaphor captures Amma's work over 73 years: what began as a quiet spring of compassion has become a mighty river flowing through hospitals, schools, homes, and villages. It's a way of describing how personal spiritual practice—rooted in the moment of being seen and loved—grows into systemic change that touches millions of lives.
Amma's work draws from the Hindu and Indian spiritual tradition, particularly the concept of seva (selfless service) and Krishna's teaching of nishkama karma (action without attachment to results). However, her institutions serve people across all faiths and nationalities, operating on the principle that 'humanity' is the only identity that matters.
